10 ACHT

The event was then over. I had a significant epiphany today, and I believe I drank too much. People in the House of Commons offered me drinks, and I could not refuse; they were also older, and it is common courtesy to accept drinks, food and offers from older people.

I cannot tell them that I have a low tolerance for alcohol; it is embarrassing. I am limping to the front line, waiting for the car that picked me up earlier; this is the worst part. I realized back then that we could not be together because I am the low-born and he comes from an elite family, but today I feel like a meteorite hit me; our gap has widened even more.

Why are you such a fool to think that everything will go your way just because you are wearing fancy clothes and now have things you could not afford before? I am the worst; I am such a moron. I am inebriated and screwed up; why is that driver taking so long? I had the sensation that the ground was rising as I walked. I also realized I would fall until an arm grabbed my arm and helped me up.

"What's a beautiful lady doing out here? Were you dumped by your date? Or were you waiting for someone to accompany you?" I looked at the man; if I am not mistaken, it is Gunnar Kieber, if I am not mistaken due to my inebriation. He works as the Lord Speaker of the House of Lords, Caspar Bechtold's secretary. "Did you?"

He is a jerk whose head has suddenly grown larger since being promoted to a secretary. "No thanks, Mister Kieber. I can manage," I protested, having heard a dirty rumor about him trying to get every girl to bed after getting drunk. "You know, I like girls like you, you know Miss Mei Chen, you got my attention ever since that conference, you have that look on your face that you want a man to bed, but you are also the type to resist," I said.

My ego exploded, and I smacked him across the face. How dare he pass judgment on me? He does not even know who I am. "This is going to be interesting. I am taking you home," he says as another man wraps his arm around my waist. "Where do you think you are going to take her?" Kieber's face turned stoned. Is there a problem?

Wait a minute, that voice sounds familiar. When I looked up, I saw the man causing my anguish. He was dressed in a black suit with a maroon necktie; just being in his presence made me melt. I am hoping the alcohol will make my cheeks look less red. I need to get out of here as soon as possible.

These men are causing havoc in my life, and I have had enough. Kieber bowed and said, "My Rightful Noble Lord. I was taking the Honorable Speaker's Secretary home because it appears that her designated driver will be picking her up any minute now; everyone had barely left; I was just worried, that is all." He reasoned that he would undoubtedly side with this man and allow me to sleep with him. "Is that part of your job description?" He asked, puzzled.

"As far as I know, you're just a secretary, nothing more, right?" Is he on my side? What a kooky jerk! "No, my Noble Lord," he replied, not looking up.

"You may depart; I will take her home," he said as he bowed again and walked to his designated car. "Do you think I will let you go and spend the night at his place?" I have calmed down now. What on earth am I thinking? I shook my head; he then assisted me and drove away.

My designated driver then approached us, but he bowed and left when he saw the Noble Lord. It was a peaceful drive until I asked him, "Do you know where my house is? I can give you directions," I said nervously, not stumbling over my words. "As far as I know, you live in a private community. Is it Yvory Cliff Ville?" Is he expecting me to live in a high-priced neighborhood? My head shook.

"Crimson Sanctum Subdivisions?" He asked again, shaking my head. Is he under the impression that I am wealthy? "How about Malachite Trinket Homes?" I have had enough of him, and he is making me feel like a peasant.

"It is in Yllustrious Summit Ville, My Noble Lord, please turn right at the next intersection," he typed into the car's command center. I believe it was the GPS. "Does your family know you're taking me home? After all, it's your inauguration sort of coronation day."

"Who says I am taking you home? I am just preventing a citizen from being bedded by an unknown person, right?" he retorted. "You are correct, My Noble Lord." Excellent! What did I expect? Mei, you are a moron!

He dropped me off in front of my house after a few minutes of quiet driving. I got out of his car. I would like to make at least one offer to him. Even if I am awake, let us pretend the alcohol took over my system and offer him tea or something. I cut him off just as he was about to say goodbye.

"Pardon, My Noble Lord, but may I offer you a cup of tea inside my humble home?" I asked inadvertently. He smiled as he awaited the offer. "Thank you for your offer," he said. I then led him to my house, which relieved me because I had cleaned up.

"Pardon me for a moment, My Noble Lord; I'll change into proper clothes; it's still a little strange serving you in these clothes, and I don't mean to keep you waiting," I said awkwardly. "If you want to change, I prefer you wear comfortable clothes like when I'm not here, and wash up as well; after all, it's your home, even though I'm now the Noble Lord; it's your abode, after all."

"No, My Noble Lord, it is common courtesy to look presentable in front of Nobles as always." I looked down at my feet. "Are you going to defy me?"

"Not at all, My Noble Lord! Pardon me," When did he become so arrogant? Relax, Mei; he is your Noble Lord; he can expel you at any time. I went to my dressing area, what a coincidence! I just bought a new pair of long sleeves plain maroon loungewear set casual comfy two-piece tracksuit. "This looks great."

I looked in the mirror and saw how messed up my face was; my makeup was everywhere. I obeyed Theodore's orders to wash up, quickly taking a bath, then doing my skincare routine; I should hurry; he might think I am taking too long. I put on my tracksuit and went to the kitchen.

I made Chamomile tea and was about to serve it when I noticed the living room was empty. "Huh? What happened to him?" I stated that he was nowhere to be found; had he already left? "Oh, you are done?" As he whispered through my ears, a tingling sensation ran down my spine.

"I prepared Chamomile Tea, My Lord," he said as he sat comfortably on the couch, and I sat in front of him, placing the teas on the table. Chamomile tea is best known for promoting sleep. When you drink alcohol, however, you must sleep. He drank the tea quietly. "Allow me to lead you to your sleeping quarters. You're still a heavy drinker, right?"

Drinking chamomile tea will assist you in falling asleep. Terpenoids and flavonoids, which are active compounds in chamomile, benefit. Muscle spasms, anxiety, stomach cramps, and diarrhea will also be addressed. Essentially, chamomile tea is one of the best hangovers cures available.

"No need- It's this way, My Noble Lord," he said as he tucked me into bed. "Pardon me for being rude, but let's just pretend that the alcohol really took over my system, I just want to ask you. Even if you're the Noble Lord, and I know you're smart, you'll just reason it out because you're doing your duty. But why does it appear to me that everything you do contradicts your duty? " I was expecting a sermon like he used to give, but instead, I looked up at him.

"You know what, before I was The Rightful Noble Lord Theodore Schwarzburg, I was plain-old Theodore Huber, you know that right, Mei?" he said with a reassuring smile. "Simply put, I was a man before I became The Rightful Noble Lord. So do not worry." I felt his hand brush across my eyes, causing them to close; he caressed my face; I felt him close; what will he do? I felt a soft peck on my brow.

"Theodore-" I did not finish my sentence because my world went black, and I soon fell asleep. "Sleep well, Mei," he mumbled.
