39 Chapter 39

The fights at all the battle fronts except Pakura's group were intense. Fugaku and his squad were chasing Pakura's group but it would be a while before they could catch up. It was difficult to chase a group of elite ninja when they solely focused on escaping.

Now two hours had passed since Yami left Fugaku's group. Jiraya was having great trouble battling with Rasa and Shukaku's Jinchuriki alone. Precisely he was not alone because he had the help of two little old toad sages from Mount Myoboku who helped him to continuously maintain Sage mode.

Sand Coffin.

Rasa wanted to trap Jiraya as he he controlled the huge amount of sand near Jiraya with his hand but failed when Jiraya used Body Flicker to escape.

Rasa canceled his jutsu and used another jutsu called Sand waves. He touched the ground with both palms and sent huge chakra into it. The sand started moving like water waves and charged towards Jiraya who immediately used several Earth walls to block the sand while blocking the heavy tail attack from the jinchuriki who had transformed into half assed Shukaku's form. Only half of his face looked like a tanuki and yellow eyelid flashed menacingly while a huge tail sprouted from his back which was made up of thick sand.

Jiraya's body was enhanced greatly while using sage mode but he was still sent flying more than fifty meters away after blocking the huge tail.

Cough Cough.

Jiraya stood up with no injuries but coughed some sand which filled his mouth.

" Jiraya boy, let's use our genjutsu on the jinchuriki first. " Fukasaku the male green toad sage advised Jiraya as he stuck on Jiraya's right shoulder.

" No Fukasaku sama.. that technique needs time to build up sage chakra and Rasa wont give us that.. Shit.. look it comes.. "

Jiraya cursed as he formed many earth walls again to block the huge sand waves coming at him.

" Damn.. this is getting nowhere.. " Jiraya clicked his tongue in annoyance as he broke a sweat feeling danger from his two opponents.

" White blade"

Sakumo whispered as a huge white chakra blade shot out towards Chiyo's puppets from his short sword.

Chiyo did not panic and manipulated her ten puppets skillfully using chakra strings. Suddenly two big puppets opened their mouth and a thick green chakra shield appeared which blocked the white blade for a second before breaking into pieces.

Chiyo and her puppets managed to dodge in time and suffered no harm.

" Damn you White Fang. "

Chiyo cursed loudly as he her old wrinkled twisted with anger. She manipulated three puppets who shot thousands of small and thick poisoned needles at Sakumo.

Sakumo barely managed to dodge in time as he used lightning chakra to stimulate his body before using body Flicker.

' This old lady is too troublesome to deal with ' Sakumo sighed inside his mind while panting for air as he had lost great amount of stamina from constant battle with Chiyo for more than three hours now.

" Water Dragon Bullet "

Sakumo formed hand signs at crazy speed and spewed huge dragon shaped water bullets from his mouth. The chakra was too dense and the B rank jutsu had close to A rank jutsu's power in it.

Chiyo's face changed as she was surprised by instant escape and counter attack of Sakumo.

' This man must not be left alive. He has become more stronger than the time when I faced him during previous war. Damn.. White Fang , how dare you kill my son and daughter in law. Poor Sasori.. my grandson. '

Chiyo shed a silent tear as he remembered her grandson who had deflected from the village already and manipulated a big puppet. It opened its stomach and swallowed the water bullets like they were food. The stomach closed and nothing happened.

Sakumo looked speechless at this scene because he knew the power of his jutsu well. He sighed heavily because this old lady had too many strange tricks. Sakumo's chakra was only about one fourth remaining now so he had no choice but to solely rely on his refined Hatake kenjutsu to fight at close range.

Chiyo instantly became alert as she caught Sakumo's fast movements which were fast enough to even confuse her experienced eye. She skillfully controlled her puppets and started blocking and attacking at the same time.

The fight continued for another hour before both sides retreated for the night and would again face tomorrow. Night surprise attacks occurred and some supply bases of Suna and Konoha were destroyed.. that's all.
