Next day , Yami was called to the head commander's tent was confused and surprised because the person was someone else.

Jiraya was the head commander to stop Suna's invasion but right now in front of him stood a white silver haired man with kind expression on his face. Yami recognized this dude because he was Konoha's White Fang Hatake Sakumo.

Anyway Yami was in too low position to ask for the details of such matters as on paper he was a genin which meant cannon fodder. Yami could guess that orders would have been deployed in past days and Minato must have shifted Sakumo here instantly from the far Amegakure from here.

" Greetings Sakumo san. I am honored to meet Konoha's White Fang ." Yami bowed and knelt down on one knee. He was not lying ..

Sakumo did not reply and just continued to stare at Yami for a while before nodding once with a smile on his face. " Hmm.. You are really cut above others Yami kun. I have summoned you today for an important matter which is to inform you that your exploits during the previous mission have been recognized by the village and according to emergency war rules, you are hereby promoted to Tokubetsu Jonin rank. Haha.. kid, you are the youngest Tokubetsu Jonin in our village's history. "

Yami did not change his expression but inwardly he was extremely stunned because he had only expected a chunin rank. As it was only his first mission and Tokubetsu Jonin was out of his expectations.

Sakumo nodded once more in approval because the young kid before him already had more control over his emotions than some veteran ninja.

After rejoicing for a few seconds inwardly Yami let out a small smile. " Thank you . " Yami just said these two words in response.

Sakumo stood up and handed a standard Konoha jonin vest to Yami . Yami stood up too and accepted it with both his hands. Now he could accept some difficult missions which may involve surprise encounters with multiple enemies. That would be great chance for collecting kill points. He can kill them without worry when nobody is watching him and display his full abilities.

" Kid, you have two choices with you now. One is to remain a neutral ninja and other is to join my personal squad until you are here in the battlefield with Suna. Now you can make your choice carefully. Just be fast because I don't have a lot of time right now."

Yami thought for a second before agreeing to join Sakumo's personal squad. It will be beneficial for him. Now he would only accept missions personally from Sakumo in near future which will be more dangerous ones but Yami welcomed the chance to fight multiple enemies instead. In next two days the large scale battle will commence and if Yami did not have a specific mission to complete then he would be deployed as one of the small commanding force in the battlefield which was also good for Yami because he could easily fight more enemies that way.

After few minutes , Yami exited Sakumo's tent with a smile because he was really happy with the unexpected development.

They had submitted the deed bodies to the mission center in the base camp so Yami could collect the money. During war for each enemy killed there was also separate money reward given by the village to encourage their ninja . The amount was lesser than real bounties but it was still not that bad.

Their B rank mission was scrapped and jumped to A rank because they had encountered a squad led by jonin class enemies. Naturally the reward increased too.

All in all , Yami made more than 9 million ryo from this one mission only. Ninja was really a profitable profession as long as one was strong enough to not get injured during the mission and waste money on treatment. Yami was too happy today as nothing but good news reached his ears back to back.

He suppressed his excitement and decided to head towards the items center because he could receive some free weapons which were his quota and some which he got from promotion. Yami naturally wanted a chakra metal short sword now because he had copied the Hatake KENJUTSU. It was a very interesting technique because the user had to use extremely well controlled lightning chakra to stimulate his motor muscles and gain super reflexes and speed.
