1 The Faust Family

Chapter 1: The Faust Family

Sitting on a wheelchair, was a young man with blonde hair and a pair of strikingly vivid blue eyes that resembles the deep oceans themselves. His handsome and sharp features would have made him look like an elf if only he has a pair of pointed ears.

This young man was none other than Aiden Faust, who was the Faust Family's good-for-nothing young master. Labeled as trash, crippled, garbage, any words as long as it means the lowest of the low.

The Faust Family is one of the four major families in the capital city of the Kingdom of Therondia, Theron. It is said that each family represents one of the four basic elements which are namely: Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth. The Faust Family are experts in the element of Water.

Aiden is one of the sons of the current patriarch of the Aiden family, his mother is the third concubine. He also has a twin sister named Aina Faust who was treated differently. The only reason is that Aina is born with the unique ability to control Ice, a sub-element of Water.

Their mother died after giving birth to the twins so they never get to meet her. Aina is also the reason why he is still alive and being taken care of. As Aina is valued highly by the current patriarch, they had decided to keep him in the family as requested by Aina.

Speaking of Aina, a beautiful woman with light blue hair walks towards Aiden who was peacefully sitting in the garden. The woman is wearing a piece of dress that does not restrict her movements.

"It's time, brother." The woman stood behind him, as she also enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of the garden.

Aiden nodded his head; he closed his eyes for a few more minutes. Aina just stood there silently, waiting for him. If others outside the family were to see this, then they would have been shocked. As the Frozen Fairy Aina waited for someone, and that someone is a man.

Aina has a rather bad reputation in the city, she is known as a man-hater and was cold to everyone around her. Be it a woman or a man, even to their parents, she is like this. Everyone says that it has something to do with her unique ability to control ice, as it slowly shapes her personality as she slowly becomes like her element. Ice Cold.

After a few minutes of waiting, Aiden finally opened his eyes as he looked at Aina, "Let's go."

Aina nodded as she pushed his wheelchair and brought him to a room. On the way, they meet servants and guards of the family. They greeted the pair of siblings as they whispered to each other not knowing that they can be clearly heard.

"Lady Aina is taking care of that trash again. It is really hard to believe that they are twins. The difference is too huge."

"I heard that lady Aina is going to be accepted as a student at Rudorths Academy. She is also the youngest to pass the entrance exam."

"The king even praised her potential as being the highest in her generation. Even his majesty's son, Crown Prince Elijah has not received such praise."

"Is it true that the Crown Prince propose marriage to lady Aina? But was rejected?"

"Shhhh! Don't say it so casually, it has become a sore spot for his highness ever since then."

Their voices gradually fade as the two arrived at their destination.

A big room specifically built by the patriarch for Aina. Due to some reason, Aina requested to have a sealed training room, the patriarch misunderstood it as her keeping her training a secret. Either way, she did not bother to correct the misunderstanding as it was actually much more convenient than the excuse, she had prepared.

After entering the room, Aina turned on the magic array that isolates the inside from the outside. After it was activated, the cold and indifferent expression on Aina's face disappeared as a pout replaces it.

Aiden just smiled at this as the Frozen Fairy the outside knows is just a spoiled sister in front of him.

"What is it now, Aina."

"Hmph!" Aina snorted as she turned her head to the side, not meeting his eyes.

Aiden sighed as he thought, 'here we go again.'

"Ai-chan."

And almost immediately, came Aina's reply.

"YES?" her voice was soft and gentle, there was also a hint of sweetness that no one would associate with her cold and indifferent persona outside of this room.

"You're early today. Did something happen?" Aiden looks at his twin sister. They might not have many similarities, but one would think that their eyes are made of the same material as they are perfectly the same.

Hearing his question, Aina got flustered, "I-I just… uh want to train with you today early. So I decided to come home earlier."

Even though Aina is a girl and will not be inheriting the family from their father, not because she is not worthy but just because of some stupid beliefs that men are generally better than women.

"Hmmm… I can see that you have advanced a level again. This brings you two levels below the Jason."

Jason is the patriarch's firstborn son and will also be the patriarch in the future. As he is three years older than Aiden and Aina, he is already at the 9th level Intermediate Mage. Can already be considered a genius compared to average people.

Aina nodded, "Although it was hard, I was able to reach the 7th level of Intermediate Mage. But this is still not enough." Aina stared at her hands as she clenched them.

Aiden sighed seeing this, he never wanted her to become like this. But it seems like the more she spends her time outside, the more she takes on this path. Though he would still support her no matter what. After all, she's the only reason why he's not having a hard time living.

"Ai-chan, relax a little will you. You're still too young to be this serious. Have some fun with your friends sometimes, don't spend all your time in training."

Aina lowered her head, but Aiden knows that she will not listen to him if it concerns her training with him no matter what. There was a situation like this in the past where the patriarch forbids her from seeing Aiden.

The result was something no one in the family will ever forget, almost half of the family courtyard was frozen with some servants even almost dying due to the temperature. She only calmed down after she spent a week with Aiden. And after that, no one dared to stop her from seeing Aiden as they also become much more careful in taking care of Aiden.

"But that damn Charlotte will take you away from me," Aina mumbles but it was still heard by Aiden.

"Oh! So that's why you were early today." Aiden realized the reason why Aina was early today and that's because his only friend Charlotte, visited him earlier. Though she had already left by the time Aina arrived.

The relationship between Aina and Charlotte is a little bit, competitive. Charlotte wants to become Aiden's apprentice whereas Aina does not want to share him with others, not that she said that personally but everyone with eyes knows how overprotective she is.

Charlotte is the second daughter and youngest child of the King of Therondia. She is his favorite child because of her straightforward and lovely personality. She is the only one of her siblings that do not want to compete for the throne and is instead more interested in competing with Aina.

The Therondia Family are experts in the Fire element, which makes sense since Aina and Charlotte seem to be highly incompatible with each other. Just like Aina, Charlotte was also born with the unique ability to control one of fire's sub-element, Lightning.

A destructive element that only a few people could control. Charlotte was born with the ability to control this element, though not at the level where she can control it to destroy a whole city, she is powerful enough to obliterate a whole tree into dust if she goes all out.

Though they all call it sub-elements, for Aiden, they are of different elements entirely. Though they are in the same phase, this world seems to have incomplete knowledge regarding magic so Aiden is not so free to change their views of magic.

He will only be sharing it with the people who are important to him. He hadn't told Aina and Charlotte yet since they are still not ready to know this. Knowing it will only hinder their growth and it is better this way.

From what he had found out about this continent, only four of the six phases are known, and only one of each phase is well developed while their pairs are basically unknown.

Instead of being a pair, the other one is called the sub-element of each of the four basic elements. These so-called sub-elements are Ice, Lightning, Wood, and Metal.

This world's magic is still in the middle of development so there would be not much war. Aside from the usual fight for territory, at least mages will not be too involved in wars. Hopefully.

To be reincarnated in this world, Aiden just wished that he could achieve the peaceful life he had been dreaming of.
