"Claude"

Claude was so focused on what he did that he could not hear the people behind him calling for his attention until a rolled paper hit him in the head.

He turned around and was surprised to see his father and Professor Levin looking so serious at him, "Father, Professor, did you call for me?"

Levin sighed in disbelief, "Claude we've been calling you for ages yet you did not respond at all."

"Claude, I know you're eager to find out about the item but you still need to take care of yourself and at least rest," Alex said

"Father, I'm fine." He replied as he stretches his arm wide, "I took a quick nap earlier."

Alex sighed seeing the boy determination in his work, it pleased him that his son was so focused but worried about his health. He looked around and notice he has not even touched the food that Martha has prepared for him, piles of food have piled up on one of his desks as the people in the lab also brought him some snack.

"Claude, you've been working on this for 3 days straight. You've missed two days of school already." Alex said

Claude looked confuse and checked his phone out, he was shocked to find out he had indeed missed two days of school plus it was late as well. "Father, I-I'm sorry..."

Alex sighed as he rubs the boy's head. "I know you wish to find the truth as soon as possible but what you're doing to yourself right now isn't good. You might end up in bed rather being able to work on it daily."

"Claude, have a break. Focus on the school ranking for now. I'll continue on the research, you can come and check on thing after school but you can't stay here all night. You need to rest as well." Levin said

Claude did what Alex and Levin asked and packed his staff, he also carried with him all the food that everyone has prepared for him. On his way out, he was devouring the food in one bite since he has not eaten for a few days.

"Levin, what should I do with him?" Alex sighed seeing the boy's awful state

"His your son not mine," Levin said

That evening before Alex went to his room, he went and check Claude in his room. When he entered his room, the boy was already fast asleep and did not even wash nor change his clothes. At least he finished all the food everyone gave him and the food Martha prepared. He picked all the plastic on the floor as he tidied things. Afterward, he covered the boy with his blanket.

The next day, it was already the three days of the school ranking. Most of the student already gain a higher rank from challenging other students and also competing in the class ranking. Everyone was dress in there combat uniform for the events.

When Claude step inside the room, everyone was shocked to see him. The fact he was gone for two days and have missed the beginning of the ranking.

"Claude, what happened?" Leo asked

"I have business that needed to be handled urgently." He replied

"Well, you've missed the beginning of the ranking. Also, the result for last week test will be posted soon. Want to check it out together." he asked

Since it was the Ranking week, they didn't have class at all but needed to be present during there exam and events. While loads of students were all crowding at the board waiting for the result, Claude was watching Leo from behind as he enjoyed his yogurt.

Once the result appeared, everyone started searching for their names and whether they passed or not. Not only that, but they also search for their name if whether they made it to the top 10 of the year.

Whilst Leo finished searching for his name, he was frozen for a moment when he saw whose name was on the number one list. He could not believe it as he turned around and face the man. How is it possible he was top 1 when he have missed quite a lot of the lesson and everyone mentioned he just slept during the test.

Leo walked towards Claude, "Congratulation."

"For what?" he asked

"Your number one in the year," he replied

"Is that a big deal?" he added

Leo was totally speechless, did he not know how important this ranking is. Does he not care what the result of the ranking can do for his life. "We-Well, the fact your top in our year means your very smart."

"Everyone can pass that test, it was basic logic," he replied as he walked ahead after knowing the result.

Leo ponders for a moment on what Claude said, the fact he was right. The exam was actually basic logic they just made it confusing and hard to understand which cause quite a lot of students to fail. When he realized that Claude has walked away, he quickly runs to caught up to him.

Inside the Chairman Office, a man was busy reading to his documents when he received an unexpected call.

"Grandfather what wrong?" he asked

"Tell me, boy, how did he do?" the person on the other end excitedly asked

"Of course, He top his year but he won't care about it," he replied

The Elder man laughed in delight from hearing the news, "That's good, at least one of our family top the year. You two better show up this weekend."

"We shall grandfather if you excuse me. I have loads of documents that needed to be check," he explained

"Fine, fine..." The Elder man said before he ended the call.

After ending the call, Alex sighed in relief as well. He was worried for a second that Claude might not do well but he did not doubt him for a second. He was a genius at a young age, of course, the exam was just basic for him.
