18 Mysterious Item

"Young Master, welcome home," Walden said as he opened the back door of the car for Claude.

"Thanks, Walden," he replied

On their way home, Claude suddenly received an unexpected call. "Clan Leader?"

The man on the other end frowned, "What did you call me?"

"Elder Grandfather, what can I do for you?" he giggled

"My good boy, when are you planning to visit me. You've finally return yet you haven't visited me yet..."

Claude continued to smile whilst listening to the old man ranting to him, he hasn't seen the old man for almost a year now. He only visits him during his birthday but he does not stay long for he does not enjoy attending such a gathering with his family.

"Elder Grandfather, I'll visit you with father next weekend," he said

"Why can't go visit me tomorrow? Do you have something more important things to do than visit me?" he furiously said

"Elder Grandfather, I have school tomorrow. Also, it's the start of the School Ranking," he replied

It surprises the old man on the other end, he did not know that Claude decided to attended school. The fact he is already so gifted school is unnecessary for him, "Which academy did you attend to?"

"Oh- Grandfather, of course, our own academy First High." he laughed

"That good you decide to attend our academy." he sighed, "Finally our family will rank 1 again, your cousins are so weak that they even lose to a nobody. To think even the other sub-clans are better than them."

"Elder Grandfather, I don't plan to join the Academy Ranking. I actually don't wish to take part at all but father insisted on me joining," he replied

"What?" he paused for a moment, "Claude why?"

"Elder Grandfather it too bothersome..." He replied

The old man at the other end sighed, and he became quiet for a moment, he understands completely the reason he does not want to compete. If he does not even attend such family gatherings what more will he try for a School Event? "Fine, but promise me you'll visit me."

"I shall see you..." Claude said as he hung the phone down.

"The Elder Master?" Walden asked

"Yes, he wishes for me to visit him," he replied

"He has missed you, Young Master, he has pestered your father annoying him, asking him to ask you to come home." He added

"Father must have a hard time with Elder Grandfather." Claude giggled

"He did." He laughed, "He constantly visits unexpectedly surprising the Master."

As they arrived at the Academy gate, Claude smile seeing the familiar place. He was so happy that he was finally home. "Drop me off by the corner, I'll visit the lab."

Walden drop Claude by the corner, "Then I'll bring your staff to your room Young Master."

"Thanks, bring the food to the kitchen. You and Martha can eat them," he replied

Claude then walked to the lab, inside some of the research team were still present despite it was late already.

"Claude." They all welcomed him.

He smiled seeing everyone rushing towards him, "Everyone, it's been a long time."

"Claude you've grown, your almost as tall as me."

"Claude you look so handsome."

"Everyone thanks you, it's late already why are you all still here?" he asked

"Because of this?" Levin said as he walked towards them handing over the tablet to Claude.

"What this?" Claude asked as he checked what's on the screen. Claude's eyes widen as he saw the information on the screen, he was completely dumbfounded and became speechless for a moment. "Where did they find this?"

"We don't know, we're trying to find out more but are clueless for now." he sighed, "It arrived a few hours after you left. Alex went to the Imperial Head Research Facility hoping to find the answer and some help."

"So where is it right now?" he asked

"Back in Imperial, Alex brought it with him." he said, " We don't know what the item can do but we know it can wipe out a whole city. We already checked it energy reading and it was too high that the machine could not handle it."

"Who brought the item?" he asked

"We don't know, it was sent by a delivery boy. We already questioned him and the company they said no records of the sender were recorded," he replied

"Everyone give me the data you found, Professor Levin calls father to bring the item back. But tell him not to leak any information about it, the less the people know about it the better," he said

Everyone quickly did what Claude said, they all gather all the research files they've worked for the past 24 hours.

"Claude do you know what the item can do?" Levin curiously asked seeing Claude worried expression.

"Professor, I may just found the reason what happened to the small city in M City. I just hope I'm wrong," he replied.

Levin quickly called Alex, it was the first time he saw Claude with such worried expression. He has always been calm and aloof. "Alex where are you?"

"I'm still here in the Capital why?"

"Have you showed them the item?" he asked

"Not yet, why is something wrong?"

"Come back, forget about it. Claude just arrived he said not to let anyone know about it," he replied

"What do you mean?" he asked

"I don't know and stop asking too many questions. All I know is that the mysterious item is no good," he replied

"Did Claude say something."

"He didn't but his expression earlier said it all," he replied

"I'll head home now," he said
