Episode 1: The Ending of Beginning

Hi everyone my name is Claire. I'm 18 years old. I'll stay in a famous boarding school in my country. Well, this year should be a very bombastic year for me cause I'm going to finish high school but since the COVID-19 cases keep increasing all over the world, I'm going to finish my senior year in 2021. How sad it could be right? Well, it was not that bad actually. Something must be better for me, right?

.

.

.

Well, that's quite true. Bahahaha

I got some people whom I call a friend because they always are there for me when I need them.... but sometimes not. When we all stick together, people call us minions. Why? Because they said that I am Gru and the rest are my minions. I'm not discriminating them by their high or what but they're just too small and I am way too tall.

The first person is Iris. She was an outstanding girl. At my school, we both got to play an important role in Student Council management. It was fun to befriend her as she was a funny and very easy-going girl. We often get into a fight and we easily makeup and never keep it with each other for too long. But there were also times when I could not cope up with her behavior and It was when we're going to sit for any examination.

.

.

.

"Claire, I'm done. I'm going to fail this exam." Iris put down her head on the table.

"Hey, if you're going to fail, I'm getting myself expelled from the school." I raised my voice a bit.

"You're way smarter than me Claire." Her words make me feel uneasy.

"You little s***. Don't you realize you're way smarter than me? Crazy bit**." I start cursing.

"You want to bet? I'll bet that I will fail without any dignity this time." She smirks at me.

"Shut the fu** up. I'll bet I will fail worse than that."

And when the result comes out, of course, she gets results way better than me. We often get mad with each other and end up quarreling for some hours. Every day, I will greet her with smiles and words like 'Good morning Sunshine'. And there is one day when I was having a toothache and I was forgotten to say anything because I thought that I should say necessary things only and she turns up mad at me for the rest of the day. How we make up? That night, I look at her and she looks at me. We smile and laugh. I realized that there will be no friendship without any fight.

The next person is Skylee. She was friendly and she never gets mad easily. She usually talks less with others but when we're just with us, she will laugh and talk like herself. I don't have much problem with Skylee as I did with Iris. She often makes me laugh and my favorite part was when she talks about her favorite man who is a prince and she falls in love with him.

.

.

.

"Guys, oh my god. He posts a new picture on Instagram. I'm going to die." Skylee turns red immediately.

"You're madly in love with him. Hey, get to yourself Skylee. He is a prince. You're just a girl from nowhere." Iris speaks up her opinion.

"I'm ready to be his mistress." She said proudly.

"Eu." Both I and Iris spoke at the same time.

"If I'm going to marry him one day, all of you will get a flight ticket to our wedding." Skylee was blushing.

"I'll give you a house if you marry him." Iris was being bold.

"Ok. Don't regret your words."

That was how our friendship going all day long. My last best friend was Adeline. She was way smarter than us. She even won a gold medal for the Olympiad but she keeps it low by saying she got nothing. Adeline was gifted to me. She sleeps but she got a good result in the exam. But sometimes not. She once slept and she failed a test. She was indeed studying. Something that keeps bothering me about her was her perfectionist problem. She was my assistant in the Student Council and she keeps the messy me organize in her way.

.

.

.

"Claire, I don't like its blue sky. Change to white." Adeline's words make me shock

"What? This is the third time we change the color. What should I say to Lyra?" I'm asking her.

"Just tell the color does not suit our concept." She smiles.

"But we do not have any concept at all," I argue.

"That's it. The concept is free. So, freedom means white." She was proud of her theory.

Yeah, that is my friend Adeline. We enjoy our friendship as well as life in the school. I'm attending a school where all of us was a girl. No boys were allowed inside here. Strictly no dating is allowed also. But who knows right? This was only words. We decide if we want to follow it or not. I also got some more friends. Well, I'm quite famous among the students here except for the freshman. They saw me as a very fierce person but I was not. I'm just being too straight with my job. As a student council member, we have our dormitory in school. I was very tired every day as I find solving others' problems was very hard until one day, I thought that God wants me to realize something and that God opens up my heart and eyes about something. About love.

.

.

.

"Ok girls. Could anybody here define love?" Ask the English teacher, Miss Aileen.

"Love is as pure as a white cloth. How long the relationship is depending on both sides' situation."

"Love is the willing of someone to sacrifice for his or her partner."

"Love cannot be defined. It is infinity."

"Good. Claire, how about you? What do you think love is all about?" Miss Aileen's questions startled me up.

"Hah? Love? I don't know miss. I've never been in love before." I answered it spontaneously.

"At least. Your definition. It's ok." Miss Aileen ask me again.

"Love is maybe just a word to show someone you love them?" Miss Aileen sigh.

"Ok class, since Claire does not know what does love means, let me tell you. Love is defined as pure. There is no discrimination toward love. You can love someone regardless of who they are, what race they are, what color even what gender they are. Love is love." The whole class clap for Miss Aileen but not me.

I am clueless about what love. How can you love someone? How can you love them even though your family hates your partner? How can you love someone of the same gender? How can love happen? How can you say you love someone when you're meeting them for the first time?

"Claire, let's go. Lyra is going to nag if we come in late for the meeting." Iris grabs my hand.

"Coming." I close my laptop and walk away with her.

-Student Council Meeting Room-

I was not focusing at all. I still thinking about what Miss Aileen told us earlier. Then, Lyra's voice calling my name make me wake up from my daydream.

"Hey Claire, are you ok? Why you look left out?" Ask Lyra, The School President.

"I'm ok. What was it again?" I'm asking her.

"You're in charge of the event place. Make sure everything organizes and all of them pay the deposit before we start everything." Lyra's order makes me snap out of the dream.

"Am I going to do it alone?" I'm asking her again.

"No Claire. You're going to work with Ivy. She was not here today. Try to reach her out later."

"Ok." I smile and she continues explaining.

I reach Iris on my right and when I'm about to ask her, she explains everything to me.

"We're going to organize a program with the prince school next door. We will be having a ball and so on. You're going to partner up with their Social Affairs Student Council Representatives, Aidan. Isn't that amazing?" Iris was being excited.

"What the hell? I don't even know him. Why should I dance with him? No. Lyra, objection. I'm not going to dance with him." I get up from my seat.

"Claire, like what I said just now, you just need to accompany him and share tips or anything in your fields. I don't ask you to dance with him. But if you insist, you can. But for now, he is your partner." Lyra insists.

I could not help but just accept the fact for now. I walk back to my room gloomy. I enter the room and could not see anyone around. I put myself on the back. One room consists of 4 student council members. I have a very active roommate. What do I mean by active? They are as busy as bees. The first one is Andrea. She is a very active student. Football, baseball, and even hockey. She plays every sport. She is very contra to me. One thing I don't like about her is sometimes she keeps telling me something hard for me to understand.

.

.

.

"Claire, you look good in white," Andrea said as she looks at me wearing the white new dress.

"Thank you, Andrea. My cousin bought it for me as a gift." I smile as I look at the mirror.

"You look like a ghost." Her words crack me up.

"What? Does that mean I'm ugly?" I ask her as my voice is rising.

"No. I mean people usually use white to symbolize death. It happened to suits you well which means you beautiful." Her words make me dizzy.

"So, am I beautiful or not?" I'm asking her again.

"You look beautiful as a living corpse." I had enough with her words.

That is how weird she could be. My next roommate is Aubrey. She is way busier than any of us here. She is more important then me. She works from night to morning. She looks really tired and often fainted out in front of the door before she even manages to go to her bed. She is perfect but she got a very bad habit that I dislike. She likes to tease me.

.

.

.

"Hey, Aubrey can you lend me a hand?" I ask her as I was busy with some laundry.

"Don't you get your own hands?" She said while sipping some water from the cup.

"Ergh, I'm quite busy and my hands too. Can you help me please?" I beg her.

"Beg me again and I'll help you." She smirks.

"Please Aubrey I'm begging you." I started to beg her.

"Claire, nothing we can achieve in this world without trying. Good luck." She walks away leaving me with the laundry.

She calls that love. I don't get it at all. And my last roommate is Ivy. She is the second most famous girl in school. Well, the first place is me and she placed second. In terms of look, she ranks in the top 10. In the term of a girl crush, she ranks second after Riera. She takes care of me like her sister and I sometimes get annoyed over it and sometimes I feel safe with it. She is also my study partner. She a perfect friend except for one thing. She got too many fans.

.

.

.

"Claire I'm sorry for being late." She looks tired as she arrived there.

"It's okay. You just late for 1 day and 3 hours." I smile as I look at her.

"Claire I'm sorry. I forgot that I got a club meeting yesterday and just now they asked me to be the model for the school magazine." She trying her best to explain.

"It's okay. I'm used to it. Shall we start discussing now?" I smile and open up my book.

"Yes. Let's continue." She smiles but her smile faded as she saw some kids coming inside the study room.

"Big sister Ivy, we need your help." A cute girl coming inside crying.

"Why did you cry? What happened?" Ivy seems concerned but not me.

"Her pants were stuck on the tree." Her friend's words leave me a shock.

"How come her pants could stick there? "She asked them.

"The wind is too strong. Can you help us sister?" She begs her.

"Claire I...."

"Just go. They need you." I cut off her words and smiles at her.

"Thank you, Claire. I'll be back soon. I'll promise." She went with them and never come back.

Usually, I was the one who took her things back to the dorm, and again she keeps seeking my forgiveness every day since we study together every day. I usually spend some time with Iris in her room and sometimes I spent my time alone in the room. When I'm not around, all of them will be there and I will be so sad about those facts.

"How about going out? Alone? Wow, that's amazing Claire. Let's go." I talk with myself and start to dress up.

As the student council, I got my permission to go in and out of the school. I smile as I look in the mirror. The dress suits your skin and today's weather. I wear my mask and walk away from the school. I switch off my phone into vibrate mode. I walk to the nearest shop. I want to buy some new clothes but I'm not having any likes on the design. I pass by a shop and a dress attracts me. I enter the shop and a young man serves me.

"May I help you, lady?" He asked politely.

"Yes. How much this dress cost?" I'm asking him.

"It cost 200$. Worth buy miss. The material is soft and comfy." He smiles at me.

"Alright then. I'll buy this one." I smile as I hand him the dress and my card.

"Please wait for a while miss." He walks away and I sit on the chair.

I was scrolling my Instagram. Then, I stop my hand as I saw something that catches my eyes. I want to scream as loud as I can but I realize I was in public. It is a picture of my favorite Thailand actor Arm Weerayut Chansook. He was stunning and have a very charming smile. I'm a very hardcore fan of him. That's why I'm afraid to tell everyone how I define love. I define love as loving someone secretly without hoping them loving me back. This definition of love was wrong. I could not tell that person I love them because I dedicate my love to my idol a lot even though he does not even know my existent.

"Here you go miss your dress and your card." The guy just now comes and hands me back my dress and my card.

"Thank you. Umm, do you have this kind of shoe sells here?" I asked him while showing the picture of Arm just now to him.

"This shoe? Ohh, we do not sell it here but if you go to the next street and you could find a shoe store there. They sell new and branded shoes." He smiles.

"Ohh, thank you." I smile back at him and walk away from there.

I walk around the market street before I suddenly bump into someone or something I guess. I look in front and I want to scold that person but he was looking at me fiercely. I was annoyed.

"Look where you're going." He walks away.

"Rude. Whoever will marry him one day really will regret everything." I walk away.

My friends always said that I got the power that everything I've said will become true. I do not deny the fact because it usually happened to me all the time. Moreover, whenever I said something bad it happens to knock on myself back. This is something that I never accept myself to get involved with at all.
