17 Chapter IV The Artifact - Part 3

Inside the corridor hallway the team walked through cautiously to assure their safety, it was dark, gloomy, and filled with red glowing streaks on the walls. Locus held a ting of remembrance, he had recalled entering this exact same hallway once before during the Chicago War.

Lee: "What's wrong Locus?"

Locus: "It's nothing, I just suddenly remembered this place from before during the Chicago War."

John: "You were here before?"

Locus: "Sort of, it was like a similar Dreadnought. I remember being on a ship just like this is all."

Juniper: "I guess all ships must be the same, exterior and interior huh?"

Locus: "I suppose."

Juniper: "Wait, if you know this ship from past experience, then can you lead us to an escape ship or something?"

Locus: "I believe so."

Lee: "Tell us which way to turn to."

Locus: "This way."

Kate: "Good for something I guess."

They exit the corridor hallway and enter inside a rectangular room with three hallways in front of them, surprisingly no guards or soldiers. Lee glanced at Locus and asked, "Which way do we go Locus? You know this place better than we do."

Locus gazed and thought for a minute, a sudden memory flashed back into his mind, a woman's voice shouting out, "This way...." Gunfire, screams, explosions, loud footsteps. These are all things that he remembered from his past life so to speak. "Straight."

Lee nodded and they continued onward.

Further on, they reached the end and saw a heavy door, Lee approached it, touched the surface of the door feeling the hard shiny chrome like surface. He reached for a device on his magnetic belt and stuck it on the door. Everyone stepped back and reorganized themselves. Locus had questioned the device while staying back a few feet, "C4 bomb?"

"Sort of, it's meant to break down doors like these, I had a scientist create this before we left. It's a special order I requested." He sat his left pointer finger on his right wrist and pressed a button on his digital watch. The special C4 bomb suddenly flashed red and a beeping noise was released from the bomb. A few seconds pass by. Boom! The door exploded and created a bunch of black smoke. They entered inside as a pack and saw that it was the navigational control room. Eight Scar creatures were guarding different spots throughout the room. Locus opened fire on any creature nearest to him and so did Delta team. Kate and John took care of the creatures on the far left, while Locus, Juniper, took the right side of the room, and Lee took care of the middle section of the area.

After the quick abrupt battle, Locus and Delta team observed the room around them, looking for the navigational controls.

"Over here!" Kate exclaimed, presumptively finding the control set.

Delta team and Locus immediately headed over to her position.

They arrived and saw the intricate design and layout of the steering for the spaceship. Locus scanned the display panel and lightly slid his fingers across the screen. All of a sudden, a 3D hologram presented a layout of dozens of planet's, and a fleet of Scar Spaceships and Dreadnoughts heading towards a special planet. "Where is this ship headed towards?" John asked curiously.

"This fleet is heading outwards from our Solar System and into another Galaxy," Lee said bluntly.

Locus stared at the fleet's destination for a moment, wondering why they needed to fly there. "There must be something there if the Scars are hailing a giant floating structure to another Galaxy." John proclaimed.

Lee presented a question to consider, "If this is where they're headed, why not use this 'object' against us? It doesn't make sense."

Locus acknowledged and stated, "Agreed, we need to shadow them to this planet as quietly as possible and find out what their plan is."

Juniper reminded them, "But everyone on this ship knows we are here, what if they blow up this ship just because we're on board?"

Lee suggested, "Good point, as we know right now, we are being hunted from inside the ship, but we are still on coarse to that planet; I also noticed something else, communication is only sent through this room, unless they have another way of sending information to other ships, then were done for. We can do either two things, one we kill what we can on this ship, escape and follow them quietly on the Falcon, Or two, we hide until we arrive and bail once we arrive on the planet. We need to be careful of our decisions here, we won't get another chance once we arrive."

Locus stepped in, "I agree, in a little while they will notice that the navigational control room leaders aren't responding, they'll most likely send troopers to investigate. I think we should split up into two groups, one group protects this room, while another groups heads into the hanger and scout for an escape ship while clearing out enemies. What do you think?"

Lee replied scratching his chin to express himself, "It's risky sending groups out, I don't like it. What do you all think of Locus's plan?"

Kate responded with something nice to say about him for once, "I think it's a start to do something rather than nothing."

John chimed in on Kate's statement, "I would never had thought you would agree to anything Locus says Kate."

Kate exclaimed to defend herself, "I always have something nice to say to him!"

John laughed and replied, "Funny Kate, but honestly his idea is something I can agree with with.

Juniper didn't join in on the conversation and just simply gave a nod, agreeing with his plan.

Lee announced to the group outwardly, "Alright! We'll go with your plan and see what comes of it."

Locus nodded and told them, "Okay, Delta team, Kate, John, Juniper, and Lee, head towards the hanger and find a ship while I protect this room."

Lee was puzzled by his commandment, he asked, "I thought we were going into groups?"

Locus replied to Lee while readying his weapon, "We are, I'm a one man group, while you four are the scouts of this plan."

John went up to Locus, grabbed his chest and accused him, "What are you saying? Are we dead weight to you?"

Locus replied, "I never said that, I thought it would be better if you went along and scouted."

Lee broke up their debate by shoving both of them away from each other, "Enough! We'll go and find a ship. You think you will be okay by yourself?"

Locus nodded and Delta team left the room with John giving him a scoff as he gazed at him from afar.

The Delta team crew moved with cautiousness as they traveled down the hallway towards the hangar bay with discretion. All the while Locus protected the Navigational control room with his life, he sighed deeply under his helmet to exhale pressure from the others.
