7 Chapter II The Autumn - Part 2

Inside they saw a lot of computer monitors lined up in individual rows, the many people resting in the office chairs were programmers, typing on the hundreds of keyboard's simultaneously. The workers who weren't programmers were either talking to each other discussing, or doing idle work. Discussing wasn't quite what Locus enjoyed or appreciated because in his own opinion he believed that Doing something and taking initiative was more impactful than wishing for it to happen and planning. Top of the line is, everyone had a role on this spaceship, whether it was important or trivial. Locus thought everyone was being trivial and not taking more action into consideration.

They strolled past the many divergent workers, careful not to disturb them of their work. The Captain was ahead, resting his hands on the desk with a blue holographic view of a spherical planet, his white gloves and formal suit made him look appropriately like a captain of a spaceship. He noticed he inhaled strongly through his nose and blew out the air through his mouth, he thought he was dissatisfied about something.

"Sir," Sergeant Keith asked, grabbing his hat and resting it on his chest as a way to show respect. Keith respected the Captain more than anyone else as he had done quite a lot for him during the troubled times spent on Earth, he'll never forget what was done for him to this day. Respect, was everything to him, his speech to him, his stance and the way he presents himself before him. Like comparing a Servant to a King.

"Hm?'' The Captain questioned as he turned around, revealing his grave face, a white beard was poking out, he did his best to trim it, but it was poor work done. The Captain was about mid sixties, his skin was still smooth but wrinkled. He was well fit for a man his age, not too strong, but not too weak either. His attention was shifted towards Locus instantly, unfamiliar with the tall bulky armored man. He was lost for a quick second upon realizing who he was. The information the woman gave him was accurate, he was stunned, unable to make a proper sentence, he quivered his lips, attempting to make a sentence, "Your...." he barely gave the next word, it's like he was choking on his words, unable to spit it out inside his throat. "... A Locust soldier?"

"I am sir," Locus replied boldly, standing formally to show his respect.

"I haven't seen someone like you since the last war," The Captain replied to him, he was still a bit uneasy of him, he kept his distance, preparing to make sure he was ready for an assassination attempt.

Locus sighed heavily, even the others could hear his breath reach his voice modular, emitting a raspy sound, "It has been a while hasn't it? I'm still coming to terms that I'm the only Locust soldier alive today sir."

"I'm glad you survived and made it here with Daniel and his company. I'll make sure to give him a great compensation after this." he said to release awkwardness from the conversation. What he was going to hear next was going to set back the dark mood and heavy setting.

"About that. . ." Locus paused, he couldn't make himself say it. They both died along with a survivor of humanity, BUT THEY WERE KILLED WITH MY OWN HANDS! A voice kept blaming him for the mistakes, saying he wasn't good enough. He was fighting a demon inside of him, he blocked the negative thoughts, sighed deeply and answered him, "They didn't make it... I'm sorry."

"I see," the Captain mumbled tilting his head downwards, feeling both disappointed and curious, "Peace to the fallen." He felt sympathy for Locus, he gulped and reached out his hand cautiously, "my name's Captain August Husky."

"Nice to meet you sir, I assume I'm now under your supervision?" Locus questioned with that assumption.

"I would hope so, otherwise I would have to throw you out of my ship," he nervously chuckles to lighten the mood a little, but Locus wasn't swayed, he knew he was trying to make him laugh, but the situation was too serious to joke about, "Keith, clean him up would you? And please make sure he's in decent fighting shape, I have a mission for him."

"Yes Captain," The Sergeant replied, he tapped Locus's shoulder and walked away to the door. Locus gazed at the Captain for a second, the Captain froze with silence as he stared back at him, unable to say something. He heard the Sergeant call for Locus, he swung his attention away from him and headed towards the exit door to upgrade his gear. With confirmation, he mumbled under his breath, "He's afraid of me…"

As the two young men left the area, the Captain looked at Locus and Keith with a piercing gaze.
