6 Goblins V.S. Wolves

That dire wolf should already form it's core and already a rank-1 beast judging on its size.

*AwooO!

The rank-1 wolf who just swallowed the fireball had smoke coming out from its mouth and nostrils as howled signifying the start of a bloody massacre.

Hearing the go order from their leader the wolves then pounced on the goblins without delay. Meanwhile, the alpha wolf disappeared from somewhere.

Due to the mage hobgoblin, the goblins didn't scatter as they would have but instead formed a formation and retaliated back as they defended themselves from the attack.

These goblins naturally didn't possess enough power to hold them back. And yet they are. These were only possible due to the robed hobgoblin or more precisely his magic.

Earlier before the fight, I saw the goblins bathed in green and red light simultaneously. That should be thanks to the hobgoblins' magic.

That should be a strengthening type magic which can empower one's physical prowess for some time like in games.

This would be the first time I ever saw a formal magic since coming to this world.

Although I've been here for a year I haven't really seen any magic.

In Wannabe Town the Lord forbids the use of any destructive magic within the vicinity of the town. It might be because how destructive a magic can be to the town or something similar.

The monsters that I've also fought till now possessed no ability to use magic and only relied on their powerful bodies to fight me like how the dire wolves only used their claws and menacing teeth to harm me.

I guess before when I was still working at Dumbo's magic shop I managed to see a sword erupt in flames but for me, it looked like nothing more of a party trick. I've seen flaming swords before when I was watching a show called "Forged In Fire" so it wasn't really that incredible.

But seeing fireballs erupt from the hobgoblin's staff. My passion for magic was ignited. Although the fireball that the hobgoblin used didn't explode like those in games and movies it was still amazing.

The fireball didn't pose any threat to the wolves as it only managed to burn their furs. But it did manage to distract them for a second and at that moment the goblins strike with their weapons aiming for a lethal wound.

The fight hasn't been happening too long but there were already casualties. Due to the wolves relentless and savaged attacks, there were already five goblins dead. The goblins only killed two wolves so far.

There were only 9 wolves excluding the big one so in total they were originally 10. Now that two were killed they now down to 8 the alpha included.

Wait, make that 7 another one was just killed.

The goblins still had the numerical advantage for now with their current numbers which are 10. But if nothing unexpected happens then the goblins would still probably lose.

Why?

To kill a wolf one would need to be in a party of 2 to at least kill one wolf.

But that's for human as for goblins it would already be hard to kill one with a party of 4.

The knight-looking hobgoblin still wasn't making any moves and the same goes for the alpha who was just observing the tides of battle. They were probably saving up their strength for the final fight.

And the final fight would be the time I'm going to make a move when both parties were exhausted and mortally wounded.

Until then, I'll just continue savoring this delicious fruit.

Ahh...so refreshing.

Tastes just like a mango but it has a particular taste which I haven't tasted before.

Thankfully my invisibility doesn't wear off while I'm eating.

...

A couple of minutes has elapsed since the fight begun and finally it was coming to an end.

The wolves were down to 5 and goblins pitifully only had the 2 hobgoblins at their side.

The Alpha wolf was growling in anger over the loss of his subordinates.

If something like this would have happened in other time the pack would normally leave and cancel the hunt.

But this time the alpha was determined to kill these two hobgoblins not because of avenging the death of his followers but instead the temptation of two rank-1 cores.

The mana contained inside those cores would definitely be enough to make its breakthrough to a rank-2 monster.

At that time even if its was surrounded by a group of hobgoblins escaping would be extremely easy.
