6 Chapter 05

This is it, we are ten years old and ready for the Chūnin exam.

Team 7 is composed of Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru was still led by Hiruzen Sarutobi.

And Team 8 composed of Shikuro Aburame, Maito Dai, and myself which was temporary without a leader since Danzō's death was now led by a Jōnin chosen by Tobirama: Sakumo Hatake.

Yes, Kakashi's father was our Jōnin leader for the Chūnin exam.

He was only 17 years old but currently strong enough to be a Jōnin and team leader.

Though we did not have time to interact with each other frequently.

And with Danzō dead he should not commit suicide later on because even if he has the same mission, the rumors, which were one of Danzō most effective capabilities, should not exist.

I will try to get close to him too, he would become a strong friend if he stays alive.

I have time regardless, better befriend him once we are both adults.

This exam took place in Konoha and only ninjas from the village participated in it.

The inter-village exam does not exist yet, it started with Hiruzen's idea after the third war in the original story.

I wonder what we will have as an exam...If I'm not wrong it always ends in a one-on-one tournament.

Thought they can graduate even while losing in it.

Anyway, we were currently sitting in one of the classes at the Academy where they will explain to us how the first stage will be.

"Alright everyone is here, I am Kimura Takafumi your exam proctor for the first stage."

a tall bald man with dark-colored eyes wearing the standard Konoha shinobi outfit with the green flack jacket, the forehead protector, and shinobi sandals said silencing all Genin present

"Good. I see we have 12 teams for the exam, I will now explain to you the content of it." he said while taking a black box out of nowhere

"Now in this box, there are 12 papers, six with blue and six with red inscribed on it with a number from one to six. One person in each team will come and grab one of them starting with team 1."

As he said this one individual of each team came before him and blindly took a paper.

Tsunade had a paper with red and the number 1 and after her, it was my turn to pick for my team and I got a paper with blue and the number 6.

I used my eyes which nobody could feel to not take the paper with blue and number 1 on it because I'm sure this would put me against the future Sannin and I do not want to deny their graduation.

Once we were done he started explaining again "Now the stage is quite simple, depending on the number you have you will go to the corresponding training ground along with two chūnin and will be facing the team with the same number as you."

"If you have blue marked on your paper you will enter the training ground until you reach the place the Chūnin guides you. He will then act as a civilian and you will be tasked to protect him. You will be victorious if the time runs out or if you knock out the other team."

"The team with red marked on the paper and the same number will wait at the entrance of the training ground until your assigned Chūnin tells you to start. Once it begins you are tasked to find the now acting as a civilian and touch him with any means. You will be victorious if you make him block an attack, dodge by himself, or simply touch him. You can also win by knocking out the other team."

"The timer will be an hour, the team defending will have 15 minutes to prepare themselves before the start. Killing is prohibited." he finished as many Chūnin began to appear before us and informed us to follow them

I waved my hand at Tsunade, Orochimaru, and Jiraiya and whispered 'don't fail' before following the Chūnin along with Dai and Shikuro.

The other team against us was behind with the other Chūnin.

I did not recognize them though I know one is a Hyuga because of his eyes and one is an Inuzuka thanks to the dog.

I do not know the last one, she looks like a random Shinobi with her short black hair and brown eyes but she seems to be a decent Ninjutsu user as she has a lot of chakra for her age.

They also should be older than us by at least 3 years because team 7 and our team are the youngest in this exam.

Anyway, we arrived at training ground 6 which I never visited and we directly entered while the other team paused at the entrance.

After a while, he halted in a place seemingly as flat as Sakura.

"You now have 15 minutes to prepare yourselves before the other team is allowed to enter. I can answer some questions if you have any." he said in an indifferent tone

"Well, I guess I do have some. Because you act as a civilian you will not move fast right?" I asked

"That's right I will be a weight for you if you want to run around." he answered

"But we can still move from this place if we want to as long as we are in the training ground?" I asked again

"...Yes you can it is not against the rule." he annoyingly responded

This is great, it means that I can mark him and teleport us with the flying thunder God as a last resort.

"Alright, Shikuro can you send your insects in a large radius around us so we can know where they are coming from." I asked

"On it." he shortly responded doing what I asked him to do

"OOH what do you want me to do Yuichi?" Dai 'youthly' said eager to start doing something

"You will be the one staying close to the civil and repel any kunai or shuriken coming your way, as well as blocking anyone getting too close. And I will also put some traps just in case, remember their position until they arrive." I answered him even though trap should not be useful facing a Hyuga and an Inuzuka

"YOSH!"

"Good, now we are dealing with a Hyuga and an Inuzuka, because of that they will find us quickly, and ambushing them would be stupid." I first started before continuing "Because of this we should not play the time as the winning condition and should knock them out because they will find us quite rapidly."

"Also, both of them will primarily be Taijutsu users, it's the most fitting for their clans but stay careful they could surprise us with Ninjutsu even if the chance is small."

"Now the last one she will surely be a Ninjutsu user, I do not know yet her capabilities thought. But if she uses Genjutsu or Fuinjutsu I will prevent it to affect you guys." I finished explaining

"Do we each get to face one of them?" Dai asked me with fire in his eyes eager to fight

"They will surely target the civilian with Kunai and I think the one coming first on you would be the Inuzuka, they are usually fast and with the dog, you would need to protect the civilian from different sides. This is what we need to do, I will take care of the unknown factor while Shikuro stops the Inuzuka because he's a great Taijutsu counter. I'm confident in you Dai to destroy the Hyuga guy in a close fight." I said

"Also just in case the dog separate from the Inuzuka to rush the civilian without him, it will be far easier for you to deal with it even while fighting the Hyuga because the dog is still young and should not be independent enough yet to cooperate with someone else other than his human companion." I added

I may overestimate them because, to be honest, I could just knock the three of them myself or flee for one hour with the flying thunder god.

But I want to try working as a team, that's why I let Shikuro do the scouting instead of using my eyes.

I will use basic elements of Ninjutsu too because I keep the wood release a secret until I'm an adult.

I will have to tone down my jutsus because using some A-ranked technique would kill them and it would bring many annoying issues with Konoha...

"Alright times up the stage begin now!" the Chūnin said as a sort of flare was seen at the entrance of the training ground

They should not take a long time to get there, making me wonder why he gave us a 1-hour duration to defend someone.

And after a while I heard Shikuro

"They are 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) east from there."

[A/N: I am using the International System of units BUT I know British and Americans use something else. I will therefore always add the equivalent for length and weigh cause searching on your phone while reading is annoying]

"Alright prepare yourselves." I said to Shikuro who was as calm as ever and Dai being a bit nervous

And right after I said this a flurry of kunai was sent at the civilian from the right but Dai used his leg to repel most of them while catching with his hand the last one nicely hidden behind the others.

Now that's what I call flexing dude...he's smiling at me with a thumbs up now too.

Behind us the Inuzuka duo darted toward Dai and I said "Shikuro behind us!" which made him turn and rush to intercept them "on it."

Now this means that the other two are in this direction...Let's play with them a bit 'Wind release: Destroying Gale'

*FWOOSH*

I produced from my mouth a ball of wind that enlarged after a certain distance and was powerful enough to crush the trees in a respectable area revealing their hiding spot.

"What the fuck is this radius!" said the only girl in their group who was getting up after I blew their cover

"Dai I will let you deal with the Hyuga." I requested him because the Hyuga was far enough to avoid it and I know I could count on Dai for a melee fight

"Hai!"

I rushed at the girl who did a hand seal before saying "Fire release: Flame Bullet!" and launched multiple fire projectile in my direction

'Water release: Giant Water Wave' I mentally said creating a large amount of water while aiming at the ground to make it bounce and spread before me

This produced a lot of steam once both of the elements had contact with each other and without wasting time I could see behind it that she was digging underground trying to make me lose sight of her

I decided to play a little and created a wind breeze from my mouth to dissipate the steam and acted surprised "Where did she go?!"

This seems to have worked because I could sense her approach me from below making me smirk

"Trying to hit me from the ground is the worst you could have done..." I said as I raised my arm and clenched my hand contracting my muscles before smashing the ground underneath me

*BOOM*

"...After all, when sparing against Tsunade you need to be strong physically." I finished telling as the place now had a kind of landforms

I saw her unconscious between some destroyed rocks, it was a fast knock out but thank God she's still alive.

"Anyway, let's see how the other two are do-"

*CRACK*

"What the..." I saw a wild Hyuga flying and crashing on some trees to my side coughing a lot of blood from his mouth

"Dude you know we only have to knock them out right Dai?"

"OOH SORRY! He kept saying he was stronger than me because of the difference in clan so I opened four gates but I guess he was just all talk." he said while rubbing his hand on the back of his head like he's repeating 'my bad my bad'

Well trying to fight him in Taijutsu is suicide...

I then looked toward Shikuro to see how his fight developed and saw him lift his arms releasing a swarm of insects completely covering the dog making the Inuzuka panic at the awful sight

"Toshiko NO!" said the Inuzuka hurrying toward his companion only to get halted by Shikuro who rushed at him with a Kunai in his hand slashing him at the thorax

And the Inuzuka being blinded by the horrific screaming of his partner did not dodge Shikuro's slash making him falter "You bastard!"

Shikuro being unmoved by what was happening rapidly moved past him before striking his nape with a fast yet powerful blow with the side of his hand taking him out.

He then ordered his insects back and it revealed a heavily injured dog lying on the ground.

Happy with how the event turned for us I turned to the Chūnin and said "So mister civilian, we passed right?"

"...Y-Yeah you passed." he answered sweating a bit

To be fair we dealt with them fast because we have far departed from the Genin rank...

Ugh, once I'm 14 years old I will ask the Hokage if I can travel for a while...Let's finish with the Chūnin exam and pass the Jōnin rank too before that.

After the first stage, we were expected to regroup at the Academy and wait for other teams who also passed.

We were first to finish as I saw no one else in the classroom.

A while later another team started to come and I heard "Oy Yuichi-nii! Already finished?" a feminine voice said

"Yeah, Shikuro and Dai did a great job facing their opponent, and they may have been a bit arrogant because we are younger." I answered

"It was the same for us, a good punch in the face and one of them was already out!" she said flexing her arm

"Your opponent was weak Tsunade." said Jiraiya a bit battered and in a pouting attitude

"UH? What do you mean! You are the one who tripped and lost your pants showing your ugly underwear with little bears on it!" she angrily let out

"Please calm down, it's thanks to this diversion that I could hit the civilian stealthily." said Orochimaru

"Let's sit down somewhere while waiting for the other teams." I suggested smiling at their banter

Less than an hour later all the victorious teams were finally grouped.

"Great now we have six teams left, I will let your next stage proctor give you instruction." said the baldy getting up from his seat

"Thank you, I'm Umeji Yoriko your proctor for the second stage. I will not tell you what the content will be but in three days you have to come to the west entrance of the forty-fourth training ground." a mature woman with short black hair and purple eyes announced before disappearing right after

I wonder what would the stage be like...
