10 Returning home

"You wanna join the marine, I see" hearing Eragon's words James just continue to smoke while nodding his head.

"Joining the marine!!" when he finally processed what Eragon said his eyes widened, and he exclaimed in pleasant surprise. The first-moment headquarters heard there was someone with the Soshi Soshi no Mi fruit, they gave Jams the task to recruit Eragon even if it meant enticing him with rewards.

It's just Eragon was too stubborn, refusing to join no matter what he offered him, so eventually, he just gave up and enjoyed Eragon doing his work for him.

"You're serious right? now that you said you want to join, you can't regret it! it's too late!" quickly pulling out recruitment files from God know where, he pushed them at Eragon anxiously, fearing any moment longer and Eragon will regret.

"If I said it - I will do it, but I have a question and one request before I sign in" taking the files thrown at him he stared the commander in the eyes before he continues "what you promised me last time, you will keep your words right?"

"Are you talking about the elites training camp in the marine headquarter, Marineford?" Thinking for a moment James finally remembered what he promised last time, feeling relieved " you don't need to worry, Commodore Brannew from headquarters promised it himself!"

A few weeks ago, Brannew told him to offer Eragon a position in the elites camp training, which was understandable considering Eragon's strength, and background check. At the time, Eragon indeed said he will think about it but he said it about all the other offers as well, so James believed Eragon wasn't interested.

"Good, then my request is - Never hear my title at Marineford!" gritting his teeth against each other he continues "can you promise me that??" Eragon really hated that stupid nickname, even though it was a little exaggerated he believed it was the pirates' way to get revenge on him.

Why couldn't they just give him cool nicknames??

"Pfffffff" James started laughing with tears in his eyes when he thought about Eragon's nickname, the first time he heard the nickname he couldn't stop laughing for hours.

"I also want to bring someone with me and I will only go to the elite camp two months from now, is that OK?" Eragon started filling the files quickly but when his pen got close to signing his name he suddenly stopped moving, waiting for James to answer.

"That's three requests, not one…" when James finally stopped laughing he gave an annoyed look to Eragon "don't worry, trainees at the camp can bring their family with them and I will just send your recruit files in two months, so it should be alright" he stopped talking to think for a moment before he said in a serious tone "your lovely nickname should only be known at East Blue so if you don't tell about it to someone yourself, no one should know, but I can't make any promises"

At this point, James will practically promise Ergon anything he wants, just to get that annoying signature.

"Excellent" Hearing James' response, Eragon signed his name and offered his hand for a handshake.

"HAHAH" shaking Eragon's hand, James started laughing pleased at himself for finally recruiting Eragon. after all, headquarters said he will be handsomely rewarded if he succeeds.

"Ah Right, I still have a bounty of a pirate worth 15 million berry to collect" suddenly remembering the head inside his bag, Eragon said.

"Just reporting a bounty, you don't need me for that, go to the reception like usual" waving his hand disdainfully, James couldn't wait for Eragon to leave, too anxious to report his success to his boss.

Going to the reception Eragon collected his award before leaving the base, not wandering around the town he quickly returned to his ship and entered inside one of the rooms.

"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!"

When the smoke cleared five identical Eragon's appeared, and after using their own transformation Jutsu they all looked different.

When the ship was in the right direction with the help of the clones, he started training again by doing heavy-lifting.

[Earth Style: Added-Weight Rock Technique]

Changing his shirt to an iron armor he applied the Jutsu, feeling like he was being crushed by the armor's new weight. Taking a few moments to get used to it, he started doing pushups while his muscles protesting.

1, 2, 3, ...

The training continued for a few hours before he stopped to rest with the armor still on. Usually, he only takes the armor off when he was sleeping, leaving it on during the day.

During his rest he started to think over what he did, joining the marine wasn't an easy decision for him.

At first, he was adamant about not joining the marine, not forgetting he died in his first life while taking orders from some Idiot behind a desk. The whole point of him getting the system was to be free and do whatever he wanted with no one stopping him.

But after a few months of hunting pirates he understood how stupid his thinking was, chasing pirates felt like searching for a needle in a haystack. He frequently bought intelligence on pirates locations from Underground Intelligency Organizations. But most times, the intelligency won't be accurate or the pirates were already gone by the time he got there..

He had to depend on himself to search for pirates, wasting quite a few months at sea without doing anything except training his body. Not having experience points means he can't use the system to quickly raise his skills.

Eragon thought about being a pirate, killing marines who came after him. It seemed like a good idea at the time to sit and wait for people to come to him as they just delivered themselves and their exp…

But it just didn't sit well with him killing innocent people, the normal marines didn't do anything wrong. They also had families to look after and they just obeyed orders, believing they were upholding justice by protecting the weak people around the world from cruel pirates.

It's true the marines were corrupted too, but he can't blame the lower officials for the deeds of their superiors, If he really wants to kill marines with a clean conscience he has to start with the top officers.

Only…he is way too weak to go after people with Vice-Admiral level strength.

Eragon didn't kid himself to think he was a saint or a good person even, if he was in a situation he needs to sacrifice himself to save someone he doesn't know then he would definitely not act and let that person die without second thought. However he wasn't someone to go around killing innocent people who did nothing wrong to him too.

The ones he would feel really good to kill without a dent on his conscience were the Tenryūbito, or otherwise known as the Celestial Dragons. He knows that he won't get much experience points for those sorry excuse for humans, but their CP0 were supposed to be one of the Worl Government strongest personal attack dogs! in fact Mary Geoise will definitely be filled with strong people defending and keeping safe those scums, they too can be killed without remorse.

Of course, he knows better than to target a Tenryūbito at this point in time, after all, the moment Tenryūbito is hurt, the marines must send an Admiral to hunt the perpetrator down and he is definitely won't be able to escape from that kind of pursuit with his current strength.

Every day that passed with him doing nothing only increased his frustration to new heights, convincing him he has to do drastic actions to change the situation.

And the more he thought about it, the more it seems logical to join the marine presently. If he joined the marines, firstly - he gets access to marine intelligence reports about where pirates are, and he will also be sent to hunt them down.

And the second reason he decided to join is that he needed personal training on how to use Haki, he needs someone to teach him how to use Haki before he can get this skill. And while he's at it, he might as well learn the Rokushiki technique, he really wanted to fly in the sky but he didn't get Ki so he will need to look for an alternative.

The last reason that pushed him to join the marine is the sudden insight he had one day, this world is different from his past one! If you were a deserter on earth, there are plenty of ways to find using technology and kill you without you even knowing. But in this world, the marines don't bother the Yonkō, so as long as he was strong enough he could still do whatever he wanted even if he betrays the marines.

So for now he will go along and obey orders when it suits him, but when he's too fed up with listening to others or feeling like he is sent to his death again - he will just quit being a marine.

And by then he should already be strong enough to throw off the marines pursuit and enter the New World where there are strong pirates to kill at every corner, maybe killing an annoying admiral or two while he's at it. Who knows, maybe if he felt like it he would send a clone or two to Mary Geoise to mess with the World Government and kill some Tenryūbito for fun...

"Sigh, I hope I made the right choice" Staring into the sea, he really didn't know if he made the right choice even though he had good reasons to convince himself, he couldn't help but feel uncomfortable at the notion of being someone subordinates again.

The matter was already done and there was no point thinking about it anymore, tossing the matter to the back of his mind he continued doing squats.

Time passed quickly and a week later Eragon arrived back to his birth island, Yartol. there weren't any ports on the north-east side of the island so he could only leave his ship on the beach.

Passing through the forest he started to ruminate about his days hunting inside, feeling like it was just yesterday. Increasing his pace, he reached the village in no time.

He had to enter stealthily into the village, not feeling comfortable with all the hugs he was receiving every time he returned to the villages. If they were beautiful women he wouldn't care, unfortunately, there were mostly old grannies and kids hugging him…

Luckily for him, it was already nightfall so there weren't many people outside their houses walking around the streets, and so with relative ease, he reached his house without meeting anyone.

Happy to return home after many days at sea, he opened the door to his house quietly and sneaked inside, planning to give Caroline a surprise. looking around he didn't see her in the living room so he figured she must be in bed already.

Taking his shirt and shoes off, Eragon tiptoed to their room making no sound at all, pushing the door as silently as he could.

Taking a peek inside he was greeted with a heart-warming scene. Lying on the bed naked except for purple underwear, Caroline was reading a book on her stomach with her white little feet waving around the air. The arrangement of the room made it possible for Eragon to see her from the door without Caroline noticing.

After being Intoxicated by her bewitching curves and bountiful ass cheeks for a good while he coughed, announcing his presence without giving her too much of a scare.

"cough ~ cough"

Hearing the sound behind her Caroline immediately jumped from the bed in fright, causing her milky breasts to jump up and down, drawing Eragon's eyes.

"Eragon!" Ecstatic, she noticed it was Eragon standing there while staring at her breasts, quickly running to his chest rubbing her nipples on his skin, hugging him excitedly.

"I missed you too, Caroline" Ergon's mouth curled upwards, finally feeling the warmth he missed for almost a month, he put his hands around her slim waist pulling her harder into his chest.
