1 Trapped

I awoke to the sound of my alarm on my phone at six o'clock in the morning. Yawning with a stretch, I reach over and turn off the alarm. I sat up on my bed, removing my pile of soft blankets, and slid my feet into my slippers. I made my way sluggishly to the bathroom. I finished my business, and washed my hands and face. After that, I brushed my teeth. I looked up to see my hazel eyes, dark brown hair that fades to a blonde at the ends, and my freckles on my pale skin. I turned to leave my bathroom when I heard my father and mother yelling at each other. That was unusual. They never yell. Hearing this, I quickly dressed for school and ran down the stairs to see what was going on.

"Maybe if you truly loved us, you wouldn't have even thought about doing that!" I heard my father yell at my mom. As I reached the kitchen, my father grabbed my wrist and started dragging me to his car, leaving my mother in the kitchen crying.

"Dad, what's going on?" I asked. My father refused to talk to me. He started up the car as my mother ran outside.

"Your mother decided she'd be leaving us for a man she works with," my father explained. I felt so confused. What was wrong with us to make her want to be with someone else? What did I do for her to leave?

My father drove out of the driveway before my mother could reach the car.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"To my workplace," my father responded. I'd never been to his workplace. I barely knew anything about what he did. All I knew was that he worked at a lab. That was the extent of my knowledge on his job.

After a few hours of driving, we wound up at a building that was very large. It seemed a bit worn down. My father got out of the vehicle and started walking inside. Instinctively, I followed him.

When we reached the doors to the lab, my father pulled a keycard from his pocket and unlocked the door. He held it open for me and continued walking inside.

We passed through several different hallways, when suddenly, a group of men appeared out of seemingly nowhere. Two of them grabbed onto my arms and there were two more with guns. I screamed as the men grabbed me. My father turned around and had a look of shock in his eyes. As the men dragged me off, my father ran toward me, but was stopped by two more men with guns. They grabbed him and pulled him away as my father screamed for me.

Suddenly, it went dark. I couldn't remember anything. Then, I woke up to pain in the back of my head. As I opened my eyes, I was strapped down to an operating table. There was nobody around. My head was the only thing that remained unrestrained. I looked around, but I couldn't see anything other than the scratches on the walls inside the room. There was a mirror directly in front of me, and I saw myself clearly in the mirror. I was trapped.
