1 The June That Led To Another World

Finally, his seminar was over! He left swiftly with a big grin and wandering out the door with his friends as they laughed and made a few jokes, enjoying the heat as they finally were free of the university and the burdens of education as it was going to be a night out for him and his friends.

They headed to their dorms that were a few hundred meters down the road from the main educational building that they took their business classes in and giving each other a goodbye before they went to their respected apartment and relaxed until the big night out that they were eager to go to.

David spent his time making sure that he was clean-shaven, his hair styled and ready for the night of beer drinking and dancing on down, not even realizing the tragedy that was going to occur a few hours later.

Dave went out the door, grinning like a child with pocket money as he was out the door and into a taxi "Take me to Elmgrove Street, dude." He said with that big grin that was filled with eagerness. The girls, the alcohol, the convivial conversation. Finally, no more workaholic me.

The older cab driver smiles as David held the card over the machine and left the cab before heading out into the street and seeing his friends wave him over and then he went to party the night away... then one tragedy struck that would change David's life forever.

He left the party drunk and stumbling, Joanne then asking him "Want a ride home?"

He shook his head and carried on on his merry way with a smile, stumble and giggles before he then finally being met in the middle of the road with a hard beep and a flash... before that flash would carry him into a street from a time long gone. David could smell the smoke from the chimneys, the sight of old 1940s passing cars that had a smoke smell that was strangely sweet and earthy compared to standard petrol smoke and the breeze carried an oceanic scent.

Where was he? What Era was he in? The one thing that didn't change was him, just a normal young adult guy... He was speechless, he then ran, crazed and panicked before reaching the dock and seeing people crowded around a massive ship that was in port. The thing is... some of these people weren't normal. But fantastical.

Crowds of humans, elves, dwarves, orcs and beast people waved at the ship to what seemed to be soldiers returning home. The ship carrying these troops then put the stairs out and onto the dock as the soldiers disembark in Second World War gear similar to the British equipment but they had plating on the shoulders and shins with what seemed to be unit markers.

The bands played as the confetti rained down celebrating their return home for what likely had to be years since all these old-styled uniforms and clothing was that of the 40s.

David then asked a stranger that pushed through the crowds in his uniform and his sister who both looked worn out and but still had a smile on their faces "Sorry, where am I and what year am I in?"

"Delespool City, The Great Isle Kingdoms, dear friend! Nineteenth Era, Forty-First Year. Twenty-Third of Agranta." The male dark elf said to me with a smile.

The sister then says in a soft sisterly tone, motioning to him "Gods, poor lad looks lost and scared, Jerry."

"Bah, maybe he might be a little crazed or something, Linda..." Jerry replied before looking at me and then asked "Tell me, mate, are you from the Casarian Union?"

"W-what?" I asked, pretty terrified by the stature of the dusky grey elves yet they posed no threat to me.

"Casarian Union? The lads from across the Beletian Ocean." Jerry tried to explain to me while pointing behind him with his thumb.

"No, I'm not from there I'm from the United States of America," David said to him as he turned his head to his sister and raises a brow.

"Where's that, Linda?" Jerry asks in his scouse accent, thrown off.

"United States of America? Not a clue, Jerry." She said shaking her head and then asking me "Got a name?"

"David, Miss," He uttered in reply.

"David, a pleasure to meet you, mate. I'm Linda Esgereden and this is my older brother Jeremy." She says with a soft smile as the brother salutes him in an informal and polite way.

"Anyway mate, let's take you to ours for a cuppa and maybe a bickie, depending on how hungry you are." The two incredibly welcoming and friendly dark elves then escorted him through the busy streets and crowds before we walked about a mile or two from the docks and to a street of semi-detached houses like that on earth.

It wasn't long before they led him to a house painted in cream paint with a blue coupe outside it that was well taken care of which made Linda grow a massive smirk and say "There he is The Electric Stallion and Stevie kept it in good nick as well while we were away!"
