4 003| Kevin: Something is wrong here

Kevin was not able to finish ranting to his system as one of the people in the corner of the room approached him. His body turned tense as he was not prepared at the suddenness of the person's approach. Blame his childhood days that made him too wary of strangers.

"Hi there! Are you like us?" The young man said as he smiled at him so cleanly.

Kevin could only nod his head as he felt his body froze for some reason. There is a cold chill directed to him. He did not know where it came from, but he sure as hell is uncomfortable with it!

"Then will you come with us? We are discussing some strategies in that corner. Maybe we could now be friends too in the process." The young man said as he pointed at the group of people who had taken Kevin's attention the moment he was transferred here.

"M-maybe." Kevin stuttered his words as he didn't know what he should be doing now. "I am new. I don't know anything about this at all."

"That's fine too. We are also like that when we first come over. I remember I was going to sleep when I first arrived in this weird worlds." The young man chuckled as he smacked his head. "I haven't introduced myself yet right? My bad. It slipped out of my mind. My name is Jasper. What's yours?"

"Watson." Kevin gave a random name for his own safety. He really doesn't trust strangers and doesn't casually tell his real name to others. Who knows if one of the people who asked for his name is a deadly stalker? He rather be on the guy's hate list than me traced back due to his name. What happened to his elder sister is enough of a lesson for him!

"Well nice to meet you Watson. Come I will introduce you to the others" Jasper said as he brought him over to five people who were at the corner.

"Guys meet Watson. He is a newcomer here. He is confused about how things are and in need of an explanation." Jasper said.

"Hi Watson! I'm Penelope, an old player. I have cleared two worlds before this and is somewhat considered an experienced old timer." A short haired young lady said. Her smile is rather charming, showcasing her cute left dimple.

"I'm Tanner. Like Penelope, I am an old player. Only that I only cleared my first world. Hope we'll take care of each other." A tall man with copper skin said as he reached out his hand for a handshake, which Kevin numbly took in consideration of his manners.

"Lexter. Old players like them." A cold looking man.

"Nickolas, a new player like you. Hope we'll get along well." A chubby teen said with a timid expression.

"Vilma. Old player." A stern looking woman introduced herself.

After the introduction, was the rundown of what is happening, Kevin could have asked his system about it. But seeing that there is no mention of a similar existence from others, he can't help but be cautious about what he says. There is something fishy with everything here.

According to them they have to find a way to go out of this world. The way to do so is plenty, but oftentimes hard to find. So far they have surveyed the whole area to find clues. But they came up empty handed.

There is no real significance of their info. But given that he is still clueless of everything, he just takes them at face value. He will validate it later.

And perhaps the thing that made sense with him is that in every start of each world, they will be given a short course of what this world is. They say for some worlds it will be like a small drama scene flashing in their eyes. Others were from the pieces of scattered clues and all. And from the looks of it, this world is one of those that directly shows the history or story to the players as the game starts and progresses.

And from their guesses, the clues will show themselves by the night. A weird thing that most of the old players agreed upon. Making Kevin feel that something is really wrong in this world.

Just as they were in the middle of their exchange, the school bell rang.

"Man I hate school setting worlds. They always make me go through the torture of book over and over again." Tanner said as he took a chair to sit on. "You new guys, quickly find a seat to take. We have to be like students with our current get up. Like in the real world, this game worlds adhere to what your role should be. Since we are currently a student, then anything that a student is is what we are now regardless if you have already graduated or whatever."

Kevin took the advice and thanked the man. Taking a chair to sit in, a teacher came in and started the class like it was normal. Bored as he has already gone through similar, he spaced out and did not listen much on most of the things talked about.

Instead he took the opportunity to talk to his system about the current state of affairs. He does not like being left in the dark.

"System?"

[Yes host?]

"Say how true their words were?"

[About 60% true. They are pretty much honest on the common sense of the common rules of each game world. But in some details they are not so honest.]

"What do you mean?"

[Although they said that the way to clear the world is numerous, it does not mean that it is hard to find. The rule of each game world is to liberate them from something. Which I cannot say much to you.]

"I see. But how true are your words that I only need to have a girlfriend to leave here?"

[All I said is the truth. You really need to find a girl who will like you and love you. After that was your way out here.]

"...I seem to remember accepting you because I wanted a girlfriend. Are you saying I am to abandon the one I will be together with in any of the worlds I will be in?"

[Yes. That is the deal.]

"You deserves to be a system. Really too radical not thinking of others feelings." Kevin said quite coldly. He can't help but imagine him as a scum in this set up his system has arranged for him.

"Is it possible for me to leave in a similar way?"

[Possible. But it is hard if you follow it. Every player has different clearance requirements. And most of the players don't recognize or know their best way out, so that is why there only so few to get out of the game worlds.]

"Why is that? Don't they also have a system to answer their questions like you?" Kevin was curious about this little fact. Others seem to not have a system and don't have the same advantage as him.

[….]

[They indeed don't have one]

"Why?"

[They are failed hosts. They haven't passed the tests, questions and requirements to have a system. And according to the database, there are only about five or so systems to get a host among many candidates.]

"I remember not undergoing those said tests or anything." Kevin squirted his eyes over that little fun fact.

[You did host. Before you wake up this morning you passed the test for my requirements.]

"So you're the reason why I feel so uneasy the whole time! No wonder I always get nervous out of nothing. I may not remember much about it, but I'm sure as hell is frightened of whatever test you have given me." Kevin wanted to rage. But he stopped himself as he didn't want to be seen as mental.

[Not my fault host]

[The process is automatic as long as you fulfil the requirements. So I did not have any liability in your experience. If you want you can complain to the main system. Though it is questionable if it will be entertained.]

"Let me write whoever and whatever that main system a piece of my mind!" Kevin said as he composed a long narration of his anger in his mind.

The system, quite scared of Kevin's anger, gave its host a series of numbers to contact the main system. It does not want to be on his host's bad side at all. Although he looked quite gentle and tame, his temper is really too explosive if they are not his loved ones.

After Kevin calmed down, he asked him another question he is curious about. "Say what is this game world?"

[You don't have authority to know about it.]

"Says like a scammer." Kevin clicked his tongue in his mind. "Well I won't ask about it. But tell me what this game world is. I hope I won't be in those horror theme worlds like the ones I read."

[.....]

[Okay]

[Promise me not to be angry at me first]

[You did not reply. So I take your silence as a confirmation.]

[Transferring game plot.]

Not giving Kevin a chance to retort, a series of information flooded his mind.
