1 Chapter 1

Death is peace. Death is end to your misery. Death is no suffering. Death is the end to daily struggles.

Treading along the abandoned neighborhood, eyes filled with tears, her clothes saggy and dirty. The night was ghost quiet it was as if the whole world silenced only for her soft sobs.

It has to end. No more pain. No more suffering. She wants to die. The golden gate Bridge is one of the best spot. She hugged herself as she took slow steps toward the bridge. Her eyes glinted at the street light.

" No more pain. Let's end this, Adeena" she whispered to herself. In a split second, her back hit the wall.

Dust flew out of her way as she stumbled. Before she could realise what was happening, a sharp pain shot across her abdomen. She screamed. The killer covered her mouth.

She looked up, meeting his eyes. They were bright green, gentle as ever. The eyes widened at realisation, "Why are you here?... You shouldn't be here". She didn't linger on who it was.

Adeena smiled. Atleast she got her death. This is the end. The happy ending. And she closed her eyes, smiling.

Her eyes shot upward. Wasn't she supposed to be dead? The ceiling was glistening in magical white. Golden Chandeliers hanged from them. Where was she?? What is this place?

"A girl? No wonder she died." A figure loomed over her. The only thing that was attractive was his eyes. Cold blue eyes.

His feathered hair, blue eyes, his cold demeanor. By observing him, one can say he is a knight. A grand knight. "atleast I have a heir. Let's end this, shall we little one?" he pulled his aword out.

Slang!

Her eyes squinted at the jewels that brimmed at the sunlight. Why would he pull his sword out? And she got her answer.

The sword pierced with such force into her abdomen. Pain shooed across. It was more immense than the one she encountered in her life. It was like a mountain fell on top of her.

She whimpered and screamed. It was hurting. Atleast she will die. Death was alll she need. But something was different. There was only pain, more pain but she didn't feel the oblivion of death. Only the pain intensed.

"Whats going on? Can a baby survive this?" He pulled out his sword. And Adeena felt her whole inside going in chaos. She was bleeding and the pain is something she couldn't comprehend that she felt falling from a bridge is less painful.

Few minutes passed by, the bleeding reduced, the pain slwoly subsided until there was none. Adeena breathed heavily. . What just happened?

"This is ridiculous. Healing capabilities" He scoffed.

Her eyes brimmed with tears. With seconds, they turned into sobs and she wailed. The knight was taken aback. "why the heck are you crying? Aren't you a nuisance?" he shouted.

She cried. She cried and cried. Why didn't she just die? Why was she alive when a sword just went right through her?

She cried at the fate she was put into. The knight rubbed his forehead. He looked at her and for the first time, she saw some sympathy. It was hint you can barely notice it but it was still there. Or was she mistaken? She couldn't quite grasp the sympathy as tears clouded her eyes.

"are you hungry?" he whispered. Everything stopped. Her wailing stopped and she eyed her so called father. "wow that was fast. Let me help you with some milk."

"who is there? Get something for the baby" He shouted. She heard shuffling of people around. The servants were shocked that the knight asked something for a female child.

Soon she had a bottle filled with milk. "Father, is this my sister?" she heard another quiet voice. It was childish yet monotonous.

A head peeked at her. Her hands tried to reach the cribble but couldn't. "she is beautiful. Why didn't you kill her father? "

Adeena held herself from rolling her eyes. Eventhough she knows they couldn't notice it. "I tried. But she absorbed all her blood and she is back alive. She might have some magical abilities. I need to see the king, watch her for me"

It was only the young child and her. "wow. You are so cute. Don't worry. I will protect you!" he squished her cheeks.

Adeena grumbled. "OH, we should name you right?" He pulled his finger over his lips.

"Layla! That's it! Your hair and eyes are as dark as the night. That name would suit you." He chuckled. The demeanor of her brother was more welcoming than her father. His chuckle turned into a frown.

"I am sorry you have to feel the pain just when you were born. I don't have any sisters but brothers. I hope to be a good brother to you" he smiled. His bangs covered his lovely green eyes. His skin was smooth and they had tinge of pink.

"Why are you so silent? Don't babies cry" He looked at her quistioningly.

She shaked her head. "you can understand me?"

She nodded.

"Wow that's amazing. You are strong and intelligent. I am a lucky person to have you as my sister. But my mother...." for the first time, his face contorted with sadness.

"I miss her. Atleast I have you" he smiled, but it was clearly not one.

Adeena shivered at the thought what the world held for her. Why would she be killed as soon as she was born? Why would her mother die when she gave birth to her? More importantly, why was she alive?
