2 an idea of future hopes

It was really uncomfortable due to the heat, Chichi realized.

He didn't remember how old he was, but he found that he looked 17 or so.

The water was glistening under the bright, overbearing sun, as everyone's hats protected them from the heat. His beanie provided no support, although the tree he leaned against supported him more than enough. He should've been in a good mood. He managed to steal someone's McDonalds an hour ago or so, giving him a meal since yesterday.

Chichi used to do more outrageous stealing; robbing houses and the sorts since, why not? It wasn't like he could die. But he realized soon after that it was more trouble than it was worth, and it was why he had to change what he wore. He used to look a lot healthier back then. Nowadays it was different.

But, as he noticed before, he should've been in a good mood. If it wasn't for this stupid kid...

"Mister? I really like your beanie!" She says with a smile, standing barely a few inches away from Chichi. He had to hold back a growl, not bothering to reply. "Really? You must be really quiet then, huh..." He couldn't help but glare back at her, white eyes narrowing at the sight of her.

She-- Chichi didn't know her name-- had a summer-vibe outfit. A tank top with blue stripes on white, and simple denim shorts. She also had a pink hat and black sneakers. It wasn't exactly a perfectly sound clothing combination, but it certainly reflected her all-over-the-place personality, Chichi thought. Her eyes were a bright blue, looking more like blueberries than the water nearby. Her hair continued to contrast her look, being a honey brown than reached just past her shoulders in a ponytail. Probably because it was so hot.

"You're not listening at all, huh..." She remarked with a sheepish smile, feeling a bit stupid. Chichi didn't even notice he stared for that long, and looked away from her in response.

"You know, I can see what you are. I never thought I'd see something like you just outta the blue, to be honest," She explains. "I can, um. I can sense that you're not a human, really."

Chichi felt dread hit his stomach like a knife. The peaceful existence he'd worked towards in the past years was going to fall apart. This girl was going to go to authorities, they were gonna lock him up again, they were gonna hurt him all over again--

"Hey, hey, you okay?" She asks, concern all over her features. Chichi didn't realize he started getting onto the verge of a panic attack, and as he realized he started taking deeper breaths to calm himself down and return his breathing pattern back to normal.

He glanced over at her skeptically, finding it hard to believe she could 'see' anything about him. He did give it away that she was right about him, though, which sucked. He found himself to be way too open for his own good. Chichi nodded as a response to her question, although his heart was still thumping with fear.

"You don't have to be scared! I've seen heaps of spirits, you know? I just haven't met a demon before. Just seen them in books!" She spoke as she absolutely beamed, teeth showing with her smile. The demon could only laugh wryly.

"...Yeah. I've only seen 'em in books, too," Chichi remarked. Her expression dimmed a little at the sympathy she instantly felt toward his situation.

People kept bustling past them, taking selfies with the water behind them. The tree they were under kept rustling, too, and kept them cool. He felt happy that there was something good in his life, at least.

"You could come to my parents workplace. They work with all that supernatural stuff," She commented, gesturing vaguely to Chichi. He hummed tiredly in response. "C'mon! We might be able to make things easier for you, too! We take care of heaps of supernatural beings. You're no different."

The way she worded it struck a chord in Chichi, and he growled.

"Don't call me that. You say I'm no different, but you can't treat me like I'm a human like you," He hisses, feeling suppressed anger start to fizzle up a little. He wasn't going to snap at a girl just trying to help him. No way. So, he clicked his tongue and started walking away.

Of course, she caught up to him and bothered to maintain his pace.

"Well, I'll introduce myself, then. I'm Kira," She introduces herself with another sickening smile. It was actually quite pure, but it made Chichi sick. He associated her with annoyance and fear, now.

"What's your name, then? I introduced myself," She asks, but Chichi doesn't even respond. He was over her. He knew things would only end up worse the more he interacted with people. That's just how he was. He knew that.

He heard Kira fumbling around in a bag that he somehow didn't notice earlier, and she pulled out a card. He could tell there was an address on it instantly, and held back a groan.

"Just take it," She pleaded with concern, looking him over before trying to stuff it into his jean pocket.

"Hey-- Get out--"

"There."

She managed to get it into Chichi's front left jean pocket.

"Just keep it. Might give you something to do one day?" Kira suggests awkwardly, before finally moving out of his personal space. He let out a breath as his body released its' tension. Chichi didn't even realize how tense he was.

She gave a smile and a soft wave, before linking her hands behind her back.

"See ya!" Kira called out, bounding back to someone or somewhere.

He was alone again. For some reason he felt like it was a loss compared to before, though.
