14 Yummmmmy

Max was driving us to I don't know where to get food. We were driving back towards town.

"Can I ask you something," Max asked.

"You just did."

"Can I ask you something else?"

"You just did." I can tell he was getting annoyed. "Alright, fine."

"Would you like to go on a date with me?" I turned over to see his face and he was serious.

"This is a trap, isn't it? This must have been your plan all along. Get me stuck in your car, then ask, so if I say no, you can just throw me out the car and leave me to die."

"I guess you caught me," he says, jokingly.

"Well, tell my mom I love her," I say dramatically.

"Come on. You don't want to go on a date with this handsome face," he asks, pouting.

"Nah. Maybe if you dyed your hair green and wore a lot of piercings."

"Seriously?!? But you should give me a chance. I'm funny and handsome. I'm the perfect package deal," he says all conceited.

"You would totally be a complete package deal if this were a Wattpad story. Plus, I don't date anymore and I just met you. I don't know a lot about you, so that's an even bigger reason not to. I don't know if you chew with your mouth open or eat your toenails."

"Your so stubborn. How can you just not date anymore? There's a lot of wonderful people out there, including me. Dating is how you get to know more about someone. Plus, I know the best restaurants here in Philly," he says, wiggling his eyebrows.

"Your such a demon, using food to lure me in," I say crossing my arms over my chest. How does everyone know I love food? Then again, if you don't love food, you must be an evil spawn of the devil.

"Alright, fine. When's this 'date'," I finally give in. What can I say? Food is my weakness.

"Right now," he says parking the car. I didn't even realize we reached our destination.

"Wow, you really planned this. What if I said no?"

"Like you said. I would've thrown you out the car and left you to die," he says smiling. He got out of the car and came over to open my door before I got to do it.

We were at a park with different food trucks lined up. Different types of food ranging from Asian to Jamaican. Yummmmmy.

"I didn't know what type of food you liked, so I brought you here."

"I'm definitely trying a little bit of everything," I say excited.

And that's exactly what we did.

We tried different cuisines, each tasting different. The last place we stopped, we got churros. We were walking around the park and talking while we ate our dessert.

"So, you have any siblings," I ask Max.

"I have an older brother. He travels all over the world, defying my parents wishes for him."

"What happened?"

"They tried to force him into criminal justice too, but he ran off, leaving the burden on me. I'd probably do the same if we had a younger sibling, but sadly, no."

"Isn't that a lot of pressure? Why don't you just tell your parents that you want to do something different? There are other careers and your art could earn you a lot of money if that's what there worried about."

"I'm kind of like their last hope, so their very stubborn. My mom can't have anymore kids, so their really pushing down on me. I can't just get up and leave like my brother."

"Well, I don't know your parents, so I can't tell you how to handle the situation. I just hope everything works out the way you want it to."

"Thank you, Spencer. What about your family?"

"My dad died when I was 11. My mom is a traveling scientist, so she's never home. My brother lives here, so I moved up here to be closer to him."

"I wasn't expecting that story. How did your dad die? You can answer only if you don't mind me asking."

"He was a pilot. He used to fly private helicopters for rich families, so he traveled a lot. When my brother turned 12, he wanted to show my brother what it looked like to fly in a helicopter. There was something wrong, I always forget, but the helicopter crashed. My dad died instantly, but my brother was in a coma for almost a year. My brother used to always blame himself for our father's death. After that, everything kind of went down hill."

While I was talking, I didn't realize I started crying until Max stopped me from walking and turned me towards him. He took his thumbs and brushed away the tears that escaped from my eyes.

"I don't like seeing you cry," Max says, pouting. He pulls me into a hug. His chest is warm and his arms are wrapped around me.

I never really got to mourn. My mom pushed herself into work and my brother went on a rampage, leaving me alone to figure everything out.

When I finally calmed down, he pulled me away from his chest. He wiped my face off. I blushed out of embarrassment of what I just did.

"I'm sorry for sobbing all over you," I say blushing and looking away. He puts his hand under my chin to lift my face back towards him, so that I'm looking straight into his eyes.

"It's ok. You can talk to me about anything." He gives me a small smile. We were just looking at each other. I saw him glance down at my lips and I did the same.

He looked back into my eyes and when I didn't move away, he took that as his signal and moved in closer. I started closing my eyes and then I felt his lips on top of mines.

His lips were warm and soft. I responded back to his kiss. We were making out, but it was very slow and steady.

What happened to me not dating anymore?

I pulled away when I couldn't breathe anymore.

When I opened my eyes, Max was looking back at me trying to catch his breath too. He had swollen lips and I'm pretty sure mines looked the same. Then we bursted out laughing.

"That was intense," Max says still laughing.

"Yeah. Does that mean there will be a second date," I ask him.

"Totally," he says smiling and takes my hand.

While he was driving me to work, I decided to check my phone and I saw a bunch of missed calls from my brother. I tried calling him back, but I didn't get an answer. I started to worry.

"Can we stop by my house first? I need to see if my brother is there." Max gave me a quick nod and headed in that direction.

When we got there I could see my car outside.

"You don't have to drive me to work. I'll just take my car. Thank you for today," I tell max.

"It was my pleasure." I run up to my porch to see that the front door was left unlocked and partially open.

"What the hell is this boy on? Nick, where the hell are you?" The house looked empty and I didn't get an answer back. I started checking all the rooms.

"Nick, this isn't fu-." I stopped in my tracks when I find Nick lying on the bathroom floor unconscious.
