Day Two Part 4

The hostess lead them to a private dinning room where Three women sat chatting about Wedding venues while two older men talked business.

As Jake and Lillian walk in all conversations stop.

"Mother, Father." He says to two very well matched people.

Mr. and Mrs. McDonald and Susan."

He then lead Lillian to a chair. "This is Lillian Hood my fiancee."

Susan's mouth fell open.

"What is the meaning of this?" Jakes father asked.

"This had better be a joke." Mr. McDonald said sternly.

"No joke. I told Susan not to bother me for a while if she still wanted to marry me. She continued to bother me and I broke off the engagement. Miss Hood is a childhood friend from school I have always had a crush on, We met a few times and started see each other. Since Susan decided to break our engagement I asked Lillian to marry me and she said yes." He then took a seat next to Lillian.

"I did not break our engagement Jake. I told you it was your mother who told me to call." Susan wined as tears started to fall.

"Susan don't cry honey. Jake I don't know what you are doing but this has gone far enough." His mother said trying to comfort Susan.

"Mother please. I have never loved Susan but I do love Lillian. Don't you want me to be happy and give you grandbabies?" Jake said holding Lillian hand.

"Young Lady, I don't know why you are here. My son is engaged to Susan here and is playing a huge prank on you. I suggest you leave." Mr. Wolf said.

"Jake Darling, I'm hungry do they have lobster salad here?" Lillian asked ignoring the others in the room.

"Yes, what would you like to drink?" He asked.

"Red wine you choose the brand." Lillian was playing her part.

The waiter came and everyone order their food and drinks.

"Miss Hood?" Jakes Father says.

"Yes father what can I do for you?" Lillian replied.

He gripped his fists under the table at the rely she gave.

"What do you do for a living?"He asked

"I have a master degree in Social services. I run two charity galas each year that raise money to feed and cloth the poor." She took a sip of wine.

"How did you and our meet?" Jakes mother asked.

"That is a good story. I was a freshman in high school when Jake was a Junior. Some boys were teasing me because of a red shawl I always wore.

They took it from me and Jake got it back and made them apologize to me. After that we just kind of bumped into one another in the halls.

Then a few weeks ago I was looking into some property Jake's company bought as it is the location of a soup kitchen my grandmother started.

I did not know that Mr. Wolf that I was to meet was the same Jake Smith I went to school with. A few dates later and we fell in love. But to tell you the truth I think he maybe after my fundraising skills."

Susan was watching this Lillian with wide eyes when she noticed a ring on her left hand and gasped.

Both Women looked at what Susan was looking at when they seen it too.

"Why is she wearing a ring? You still have yet to get me one." Susan cries.

Jake smiles grows, "I did not want to loose this gem so as the song says 'I put a ring on it'"

The table went quite after that for a while the Jakes Mother says, "Son what are we suppose to tell your grandfather?"

"Pop already knows. He is the one who said I needed to come clean and bring the girl I love to meet everyone." Jake said finishing his lunch.

At that moment Toby started to whine.

"Sorry baby, daddy and mommy are leaving now. Do you need to go for a walk?" Jake says to Toby. Lillian was doing her best to hold herself together.

The rest of the table was in shock. When did the big bad wolf start baby talking dogs.

"Mother, Father I need to take Lillian and Toby home. I'll call you later to make plans for our wedding. Mr. and Mrs. McDonald nice to see you again. Susan." He just nodded and help Lillian up.

Reaching down he took Toby's leash and they left.

The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. What had just happened.

"Daddy?" Susan then began crying once more.

"What are you going to do about this?" Mr. McDonald asked Mr. Wolf.

"Don't worry. You girls plan the wedding I'll make sure my son fulfills the contract."

Lillian starts laughing as she gets into the car. "That was fun."

"Thank you Red. I really don't want to marry a crybaby like susan."He says buckling Lillian into the car.

"What do we do next?"

"Not sure. But tonight we will visit my Pop." He then drove back to the penthouse to let Lillian and Toby rest for the day before heading back to the office.

When Lillian opened the door there were many packages waiting for her in the livingroom. She opened some to find many beautiful cloths.

Jake had made sure that Margo sent over everything she would need to look the part of his fiancee.

It took her a couple of hours to put everything away. Then she called Jake.

"Do you like the surprise I sent?"

"Yes, Thank you. What should I wear tonight?" She asked walking through the closet.

"Something casual. Pop is a simple man." He was glad she liked the cloths and did not fuss. He was afraid she would get mad.

"Ok. What time will you be hear to get me?" She asked pulling a blue sundress out with little yellow flowers on it.

"I will need to meet you there. The driver will pick you and Toby up at seven."

Feeling a little disappointed she said, "Ok"

They hung up. It was four so she decided to take a bath. That way she would not get her hair wet.
