22 Chapter 22. Double edged sword

"Do you think that someone of his pride came to retrieve him? His dad for example?" Pumba asked in a whisper.

"No no no... Well maybe.. but we can't let him take Asafa back! He is our family now, plus we basically raised him. He's also our greatest protector against other predators!!!" Timon whispered back in worry.

"We need to trick him into staying!" Pumba whispered.

"Hey I got an idea, we should probably trick him so that he'll stay with us?" Timon whispered.

"Uuh... Okay!" Pumba agreed.

"About your question... Those kind of people is best to ignore!" Timon said to Asafa that seemed to be deep in thought.

"uhh ah yeah! Timon is right! They only want to come back to your life when you're rich and successful!" Pumba explained.

"It's not like that." Asafa dismissed them.

Seing this, Timon and Pumba got even more worried.

"Asafa you little sassy brat, I'm telling you, parent are like.... Past troubles. It's better to leave it in the past!" Timon said, trying to sound convincing.

"The future only holds the future!" Pumba gave his wisdom.

"As I said, it's not like that, don't worry about it, I'll think about it for my self." Asafa said before taking another path to ponder in silence.

"Sigh... They grow up so fast." Pumba gave up.

"Hakuna Matata?" Timon said with a raised fist.

"Hakuna Matata!" Pumba bumped his fist.

As they walked around and picked up different delicious bugs, they couldn't help but to relax and leave all problems to the future.

Asafa found a good tree that he layed beside as he slightly dug the earth. There he found lots of bugs crawling around. Although he filled his stomach on fish, he was fine with some bugs as candy.

After slurping a few he closed his eyes and tried to nap, but he couldn't.

"You are my son" Asafa whispered the words that kept echoing in his mind.

'haah how can I relax and enjoy the simple life when those words keep hunting me!' Asafa thought in irritation. His life goal had always been simple, first it was to enjoy the benefits of being the kings brother and laze around.

Then it was to enjoy life with the crew, far away from troubles.

And now... Both his superior plans had failed. What was he to do.

As he was contemplating, he hears the soul piercing shriek of a familiar swine he had known for about 5 years. Then the soul piercing shriek of a meerkat followed.

Since Asafa was deep in thought, he didn't realise what might be happening right now. He stood up and started sprinting towards his companions without thinking.

He was sprinting towards theshouting that seemed to be running towards his direction as well.

Soon, because of his speed, and because Pumba was running for his life, they both past eachother. Pumba was shouting for his life and didn't even notice.that he brushed past Asafa.

Asafa saw the meerkat on Pumba's back safe and sound as well.

To Asafa becaus eof his speed, it was as if a red flash went by so he halted.

"Pumba?" He whispered as Pumba disappeared behind him.

Yet he before he could make sense of it, suddenly and apex predator followed Pumba and also seemed to ignore him.

'LION!' Asafa instantly ran back, chaisng the lioness that was chasing pumba and it didn't take long before he cought up and punched her from behind pushing her down.

He didn't even need to use his strength to hold her down as his superior size and weight did the trick.

She fell to the ground and layed sideways as huge paws held her down.

A look of pure horror overtook her as she realised that she couldn't move and how big those paws were.

*ROAAAAR!!* She gave her best roar in anger and fear.

Asafa held her down and frowned. As she was under him, he could make out who this was.

'oh boi, drama incoming.' is the only warning sign that went inside his head.

Pumba kept running without noticing that the lioness had been cought by Asafa.

Asafa looked down and was unsure what he should do now, could he let her go when she looked so... Fierce.

Just as he was pondering, another roar came from behind as another lionesa appeared in full speed, pouncing towards him.

Asafa just instinctively turned his body, making the other lioness that jumped towards him miss him and crash head first into a tree right in front of them.

Asafa still held down the other lioness and looked at the two.

The one under him has pale fur with turquoise eyes, which seemed to be the perfect mix between blue and green.

Looking up at the dizzy lion that had crashed into the tree, she was a darker shade then the one under him. Almost the same colour as Simba was. Her eyes were ocean or cyan blue.

The lion that crashed into the tree seemed to regain her balancing and started growling at him as she started to walk agressively towards him, making sure he sees her fangs.

'Which one is which?' Asafa wondered as he couldn't really put his finger on which was Nala and which was Ayana. They looked similar andgad changed much since they were cubs.

He assumed that the one under him, the pale lioness was Nala but it was hard to know since they looked eerily similar.

"Let go of my sister!" The lioness shouted as she pounced him again.

Asafa raised his paw and simply pushed her down as well.

He was sitting on one and holding down the other by her neck.

Nala struggled to bite him and as he held down her sister, she finally got her chance to turn enough to bite his paw.

Asafa felt the lioness under him suddenly bite him, hard, so he let go in reflex. Nala took her chance and sprung up, growling.

Right now, both Nala and Ayana were frightened by this lion who is at a size which neither had ever seen before.

Not even the former king, which were hazy in their minds, but still the biggest lion they had formerly seen, could compare to the one in front of them.

As she growled, she didn't attack him instantly, instead she observed him... Which made her realise... How familiar he seemed?
