Chapter 1 (The beginning)

Now that I looked back on it, I had a normal boring life, before I became the nanny of Mr Authur's children (he was the master of thrusthur Grange).

So it began on a lovely Monday morning, when Ellen began to pester me to pay my half of the food bills, a messenger knocked on the door saying I had a job from Mr. Authur the master of thrusthur Grange, who was also a widower.

The pay was alarmingly high and enough to pay times three full of the food bills, and I needed some children in my life. So, I led the man to the kitchen and fed him bread and ale while I looked for something to wear.

I packed all my nice things, like, gowns, blouses, pantyhoses (you name it). I ran to the kitchen with my box where the messenger was finishing his meal.

As we made for the door, Ellen stopped me at the door "You had better send me the money or else...". She did not have to tell me the else word I knew. But I went after the messenger who already saddled his horse and waited for me to enter the carriage.

We soon arrived at the grange which was really dark. I swallowed, I had heard stories of thrusthur Grange and hoped that I would not die in the horrible looking place.

When we entered, seven children were lined up and a fat nurse took my box and left saying she knew my room and another nurse called my attention to the children to introduce them.

"Children, this is nanny Mary, and she is going to be with you as long as she pleases. And since this is your 56th one, she is free to punish you as much as needed. So miss Mary this is....
