19 Trouble at the Peaks

We arrived at Dueling Peaks City late that evening. We were too tired to conquer the Ha Dahamar shrine.

Since it was late the guards denied us entry into the city, Shronia showed the guards her adventurer's card, they tensed up and acted more formally.

"Forgive me, you may enter" (Guard)

Being a high ranking adventurer sure has its benefits.

"Shronia, what's your rank?" (Link)

"I'm an SS ranked adventurer" (Shronia)

As expected of an elementalist, they are a different breed of special.

The city is a bit bigger than Outskirt City. I could hear people laughing and drinking. The street lamps made the place look like a different world. It was a nice scene.

Shronia has been to this city before so she knows the location of a good inn. When we got there Shronia was surprised to see that it ran out of business.

"What?! They were open 2 years ago" (Shronia)

Walking away in disappointment we tried finding another inn. It didn't take long and we settled on a modest inn. The inside was clean and the receptionist was cheerful.

"Hello, will you be sharing a room" (Receptionists)

"Are there 2 beds?" (Link)

"No, each room only has one bed" (Receptionists)

"Then 2 rooms please" (Link)

After signing our names onto the book she gave us each a key.

The room was much nicer than the one I stayed in at Outskirt. The room had a bed and a chair and table set. Lying on the bed, it smelled clean and fresh. After over a week on the road, sleeping in a clean bed was all that one wanted.

The next morning I met Shronia outside her door.

"Morning" (Link)

"Morning Link, after breakfast let's go to the adventurer's guild and sell the monster parts" (Shronia)

"We need a large bag" (Link)

The bag is so I can transfer monster parts out of the Sheikah Slate and into the bag. People would question me if I pulled out large quantities of monster parts from nowhere.

We asked the receptionist for the nearest general store.

At the store, I bought a large bag as well as other things. I bought some more soap and better pillows.

After paying for our goods we went to have breakfast.

She led me to her favorite cafe a few years back.

The Rabbitmoose Cafe, the inside was clean and had a nice scent to it. The place didn't look cheap. The floors were waxed, the waiters had uniforms, and every table had a clean cloth over it. Sitting down, a waitress came over happily.

"Shronia! Its been so long" (Waitress)

The waitress and Shronia hugged.

"Xalne!" (Shronia)

"I got your letter saying that you were coming to Dueling Peaks City. Who's this?" (Xalne)

She whispered loudly in Shronia's ear.

"Is this your boyfriend, you didn't say that in the letter" (Xalne)

"No, this is Link" (Shronia)

"Hi" (Link)

Sticking my hand out I tried to introduce myself.

"Listen here pretty boy, if I hear from my sweet Shronia that you broke her heart, I'm going to kill you" (Xalne)

Didn't she just hear that I wasn't her boyfriend?

I nod.

"Don't give me attitude. Your handsome face might have fooled Shronia, but I've met your kind before. The second I hear that you cheated on Shronia, I'll be after you" (Xalne)

I give up. Then her personality turned a full circle.

"So, what can I get you today?" (Xalne)

Facing Shronia she said that in the most friendly manner.

"Give me your pancake and sausage special" (Shronia)

"How about you, what would you like to eat" (Xalne)

I looked at the menu.

"Hurry it up, I don't have all day!" (Xalne)

If I were to review this cafe, it would receive one star for customer service.

"I'll have the egg sandwich" (Link)

"Okay, one order of pancakes and sausage and one order of the egg sandwich. Coming right up" (Xalne)

After jotting that down in her small notebook she walked away.

"I'm sorry about that, sometimes she gets a little defensive around her friends. She's a good person, honest" (Shornia)

10 minutes later our food came out. It looked delicious, well Shronia's did anyways. Mine looked like someone stomped all over it.

"Um, is it supposed to look like this?" (Link)

"Yes, that's how the chef makes it" (Xalne)

Her smile was fake, thanking her for the food I put the sandwich in the pouch so the Sheikah Slate could examine it.

'Egg Sandwich, mashed eggs with sweet mayonnaise and cilantro between white bread. Traces of dirt and shoe marks can be found on the sandwich'

Why?! What did I do to her?

With breakfast ruined Shronia offered me a bite of her food. The pancakes were soft and fluffy and the sausages tasted fresh. The food was great.

After the meal, Xalne came with the check.

Why are there so many digits?

1, 2, 3, 4! An egg sandwich, pancakes, and sausages can't cost that much.

"Um, is the price right?" (Link)

"Why yes" (Xalne)

Shronia took the check.

"Why is the food so expensive?" (Shronia)

"Oh, you know. Inflation" (Xalne)

Just admit it, you made the amount up. This has to be against the law.

"Xalne, stop bullying Link" (Shronia)

"I'm just teasing him. Here's, the real check" (Xalne)

This time it only had 2 digits. Paying the bill we made our way to the adventurer's guild.

Shronia led the way.

The place looked similar to the one in Outskirt. The inside was just as rowdy. Going to the transactions counter I brought out a big bag.

"Wow, that's a lot of parts. You both must be very strong adventurers" (Lady)

After she finished counting she gave me the rupees. In total, we received 600 rupees.

I also wanted to sell the weapons but just as we were walking out we heard a voice from behind us.

"Well, well, who do we have here" (Stranger)

Turning around I saw a voluptuous girl wearing Sheikah clothing, the tight clothing outlined her figure. Her face was covered so I couldn't get a good look at her.

"Oh, it's the cow" (Shronia)

"Haha, I see you're still the same, literally" (Cow)

"Shronia, do you know her?" (Link)

"Unfortunately" (Shronia)

The cow turned towards me.

"Hello there, my name is Kassy. You are?" (Kassy)

"Link" (Link)

"What are you doing spending time with this sad creation" (Kassy)

She brushed up against me.

Calm down, you're not some teenager. You are a mature adult.

Just imagine if Zelda was standing next to you, what would you do.

I calmed down immediately.

"Hey cow you're going to crush him with your lumps of fat" (Shronia)

"Did the washing board just speak?" (Kassy)

Sparks flew between them.

I tried breaking it up.

"Shronia is taking me to Kakariko village" (Link)

Kassy grabbed Shronia to the side.

After a bit of talking, they came back.

"Oh, so you're the Legendary Hero Link. Nice to finally meet you. I thought Shronia revealed the location of Kakariko to a stranger" (Kassy)

She didn't seem like a bad person. Why did Shronia dislike her so much?

"If you want I could guide you to our village, I'm sure I'd make a much better guide" (Kassy)

"No thanks" (Link)

"Oh come on" (Kassy)

She tried acting cute, unluckily for her. I'm not a simp.

Even in my old life, I knew when girls would try to take advantage of me.

Shronia grabbed my hand and walked away.

"Wait up, where are you guys going?" (Kassy)

"It's none of your business" (Shronia)

She followed us all the way to the weapons store.

"Hello, are you here to buy" (Clerk)

"I'm here to sell" (Link)

"Well okay, let me see what you have" (Clerk)

I put the items in the large bag beforehand, bringing them to the counter he examined them.

"Hmm, not bad. The spear is in excellent condition. Wait, what's this! An edge of duality! Where did you find this?!" (Clerk)

"Um" (Link)

Time for the blatant truth, no one ever believes you.

"I found it in a chest" (Link)

"Oh yes, and I found these weapons on the floor" (Clerk)

He sounded sarcastic for some reason.

"Wait here I need to go to the back and examine the sword thoroughly. Raven, watch the front counter for me" (Clerk)

"Yes dad" (Raven)

A young man with pitch-black hair replaced the clerk, the clerk whispered something to him.

"Hello-o, do you need-d anything else in the meantime?" (Raven)

He seemed a bit nervous, perhaps he doesn't like talking to people.

"I think we're fine" (Link)

The clerk didn't come out for quite some time.

I was beginning to get impatient.

"Um, could we come back later when you're dad is done examining it" (Link)

"NO! I mean, he's almost done I think. Let me check on him" (Raven)

Going back he started talking to himself.

"Hey dad are you almost done" (Raven)

Raven tried to imitate his dad by deepening his voice.

"Yeah son, just give me a few more minutes" (Raven's Voice Imitation)

"Okay dad" (Raven)

He rushed out the front again.

"Just wait a little longer, he's almost done" (Raven)

That was too suspicious to ignore.

"You can have the weapons, we're leaving" (Link)

Turning my back he shouted.

"WAIT! You should check our new elemental weapon, we just got one in stock" (Raven)

Elemental weapon, as exciting as that sounded I saw my fair share of elemental weapons.

Just then soldiers burst through the door.

"Finally" (Raven)

Finally? What's going on.

"Get on the ground now" (Soldier Captan)

Not this again, I don't want to join the Dueling Peaks City's knight order.

"I'm in a hurry" (Link)

I tried to leave but they grabbed me.

I wasn't so weak as to let a mere soldier overpower me. Seeing that I wouldn't go down that easily more soldiers tackled me. I attacked soldier by soldier, Shronia and Kassy did the same.

Kassy used some sort of throwing darts, after piercing a soldier they would pass out. It was probably laced with sleeping agents.

These guys aren't like the ones at Outskirt, they're much rougher.

After I knocked out a fair number of soldiers a shining knight came in.

"I am sir Christiano Marcos, surrender now and I won't hurt you" (Christiano Marcos)

Not this again. Is he going to challenge me to a duel when he loses?

Is he an elementalist? He pulled out a regular sword.

How disappointing, I wanted to see more magic. Then he pulsed electricity throughout the blade. He is an elementalist!

"This is your last warning" (Christiano Marcos)

I readied my fist.

He swung in place, my instincts told me to move to the side. After he finished his stroke an electric beam came out, it looks like the same technique that Triana uses. The electricity came lightning fast. I was fast enough to avoid a swing, but the electricity was on another level of fast. If I got hit, I might die.

He slashed again, using the pause in between attacks I rushed in. Aiming for his neck I went for an instant K.O.

When my hand touched his neck I received an electric shock. I backed away, he pulsed electricity throughout his body. He was a little dazed from my attack, but still standing. I on the other hand took considerable damage.

That's cheating, how am I supposed to hit him. I wish I didn't sell the dragonbone clubs, all the weapons that I have right now are metallic. If I did cut him, the electricity would course through the blade and into me.

Not a problem, I can still throw stuff.

I picked up a spear from the shop.

"This is your last warning, don't make me do this" (Link)

"Do you think this is some kind of game" (Christiano Marcos)

I guess he's not backing down, throwing the spear I made sure to aim at a non vital spot. Before the spear made its mark an icy tentacle grabbed it.

Now what, behind him were several other's wielding all sorts of elemental weapons. The elementalists from this city arrived.

I had no choice. Bringing the Sheikah Slate out, I disarmed Christiano using Magnesis. Using his sword I used the hilt and hit his head. This time he fell down.

Let's see here, 1, 2... 7! There are 7 people with elemental weapons in front of me. I think I'll be fine. Looking to the side I saw another 2 elementalists fighting Shronia and Kassy, in total there are 9 elementalists, not including Christiano. I'll be fine, but if they take the girls captive I'll have to surrender. Eating some mushrooms I tried to replenish as much health as I could.

"If you can't capture him alive, kill him" (Important Stranger)

"Yes ma'am" (Strangers)

My main goal is to grab them and teleport out of this city. I ran over to them but the floor turned into ice. Slipping I fell down, an icicle hurled at me. Using the lynel shield I deflected it back at them. I heard a scream, I hope I didn't kill them.

Picking myself up I looked over at the girls again, another elementalist joined the fray. They probably want to capture the girls and force me to surrender.

What to do? I could shoot ice arrows at all of them and freeze them, that would give me 10 seconds until the frost wore off.

Pulling out the bow I notched an ice arrow, they were ready and made an ice wall. I trusted the strength of the bow and with 2 shots I broke the icy wall down. Without missing a beat I shot the caster making the ice wall.

With the ice caster down I rushed over to the girls. 3 flaming arrows came at me, the person had a modified lynel bow. It looked like the craftsmen modified the bow for his use. I used the shield to block every shot, I threw a bomb at the archer. As he didn't know what it did he just stood there in awe, I detonated it. The bomb only did 12 damage, they should be strong enough to handle that. My real goal was to blast him away.

After detonating the bomb I tried going over to Shronia and Kassy but it was too late. They had been captured.

We lost.
