Encounter with Gold

Picking up the spoils I left the club as it wasn't as good as my sword.

I noticed something strange, in the game the broadsword should have a durability of 8. Yet I used it over 20 times, it seems that weapons have more durability in this dream.

Still, feeling pain, is that normal in a dream?

Brushing that thought aside I grab a few mushrooms from the Sheikah Slate and eat them to replenish my health. In a matter of moments, my health was full.

Finally, I found the entrance to the Forest of Spirits. The forest was filled with young trees crawling with wildlife coupled with the sweet melody of bird songs. There was one problem, it was huge. The forest seemed to stretch for miles, the game had a big forest but this forest was just massive. As I thought this world seems to be bigger than Breath of the Wild.

In the forest, there should be another campsite with a cooking pot, in the game if I cook the Old Man a meal he'll reward me. Searching for the site I came across a wild boar, it looked at me before fleeing.

"If only I had a bow" (Link)

Just then I remembered something, there should be a bow near the campsite. With even more motivation I searched for the site however, every tree looked the same and soon I became lost.

As I walk around desperately trying to find the site I see something ahead. Picking my pace up I went a little further until I noticed a large clearing, thinking I found my way out, hurriedly I ran there. Unfortunately, it wasn't the way I came in. However, to my left was a short cliff about 15 feet high, thinking I could use that to scout my surroundings, I began climbing.

Climbing the small cliff I eventually get to the top with a sliver of stamina left. Once at the top, I was gasping for air. A moment later I get up to look at my surroundings. Using the scope feature on the Sheikah Slate I can use it like a binocular.

"Hmm, I see another clearing to the top right of me, though it is a little small. There's a large clearing to the left, but that's probably where the stone talus is. What's that?" (Link)

I saw a clearing with a golden shine directly in front of me, I couldn't figure out what it was. With curiosity, I decided to go to the small clearing first then to the golden thing. Making a mental map I climb down the cliff and make my way to the smaller clearing. Making sure not to get lost again, I use my sword to make markings on trees.

Just as I thought, the campsite was here. Sadly, the Old Man is nowhere to be seen. There was the log, cooking pot, and a wooden bow with a few arrows. Taking the bow and arrows I decide to leave for now and come back after I go to the golden thing. Knowing where to go I head to my next destination.

As I went to the clearing I noticed some boars feasting on wild acorns. Crouching down I try to get as close as possible while making little noise. As I took aim a reticle appeared in my line of sight, I lined my bow up with the plumpest looking one. I released the arrow, it flew straight piercing the head and killing it instantly. The other boars ran away in fear, the boar died the same way as the bokoblin. It emitted an ominous black smoke before disappearing and leaving behind spoils. It dropped hide, tusks, and two pieces of boar meat.

After my successful hunt, I return to my goal. As I got closer there seemed to be fewer bird songs and less small game. When I finally got there I understood why in front of me was a golden lynel. It was huge, it looked to be 12 feet tall. It had the head of a lion, with the torso of a bodybuilder and had four legs like that of a horse. It carried a large serrated sword with a menacing shield. And the bow it had put mine to shame. I know there is a lynel on the Great Plateau, but it shouldn't be a gold variant. Immediately I tense up, my breathing became erratic.

"I have to get out of this forest" (Link)

With fear on my mind, I begin to slowly back away. "Crunch" the sound of a stick snapping beneath my feet as my fear heightened, the lynel looked my way. I began to run, unfortunately, begin scared doesn't mean I am in danger so my super-speed doesn't activate. Using my entire stamina gauge I was only able to run about 200ft before I became out of breath. Looking behind me the lynel charged snapping trees just like the twigs. Instead of running me over it began to slow down until it was a few feet away from me, it took less than a few seconds for it to catch up to me. I looked at it with its majestic aura, its eyes showed the look of a hunter who just caught its prey. Terrified, I turn my body and try running again, but it spoke.

"Hello there little Hylian, what brings you to my forest?" (Lynel)

Slowly I turn around to face the lynel.

"You can speak?" (Link)

"Haha, well I suppose if you saw a lynel speaking you wouldn't be alive. Now tell me what brings you to my forest, actually, how did you climb the plateau? It should be miles above the ground" (Lynel)

"I got a lift from a Rito" (Link)

Still frightened I barely spoke that sentence.

"A Rito, I haven't seen one in ages. No matter. Now tell me Hylian how would you like to die?" (Lynel)

Die, yeah right this is just a dream. Still, I would've loved to have been able to fight Ganon once.

"What'll it be, shall I crush your puny skull, perhaps I'll slice you in half" (Lynel)

"Actually, what if you just let me go. Surely there are other creatures you would enjoy killing" (Link)

The lynel smirked as it seemed to remember something pleasant.

"Oh but killing bokoblins is getting boring and most of the game is not worth the effort. But Hylians, they are worth the wait" (Lynel)

Without any warning, the lynel swiped its forearm launching me away towards a nearby tree. "Blah" my breath was knocked out of me. The pain was terrible, my back felt like it was on fire. That one attack did 10 damage, again, is pain common in a dream?

The lynel laughed at me with pleasure as it readied its bow preparing to end me. It notched 3 arrows, slowly it drew back the bow watching my face enjoying the expressions I was making. Finally, the arrows were released. Then it happened, everything began to slow down.

This is a dream right, it has to be a dream! I remembered something from TV, people can't tell the time in dreams as dreaming and the sense of time are located in 2 different parts of the brain. I pull out the Sheikah Slate and look to see if there is a time feature, there is, and I could tell time. This is not a dream!

With the realization that this is not a dream, I come to my senses. Using this opportunity to use my power I barely dodge the arrows as I run away, even if the lynel followed me it wouldn't be able to match my speed. Running with all my might the stamina gauge slowly decreased to zero thankfully the distance I ran was in the thousands of feet. Looking back I couldn't see a glimpse of gold, relieved, I decided to go in one direction to search for a way out.
