𝐐𝖚𝖎𝖈𝐤𝖑𝖞, Allison thought over the extra credit her professor had been dying to give. The assignment was to photograph an abandoned slaughterhouse when the sun went down. With a nod and a heavy heart she accepted the challenge. Within an hour she was standing in the exact location, staring at the doors taking a deep breath. One of them hung open making a loud screeching sound. Crows flew from the chimney causing Allison's heart to thump rapidly from the inside her chest. She groaned in discontent before embarking, attempting to ease her mind with happier thoughts. "Pull yourself together." She whispered.

It wasn't that bad of an eyesore.

The slaughterhouse had once associated itself in conjunction with a mansion that was two stories. Allison knew before making the trip; it had been part of the assignment to research its history. She imagined how the rooms were decorated. The elegance it once possessed centuries ago being a marvelous sight to behold. Now, behind winding roads it lie abandon; shrouded in the overgrowth of bushes, weeds and trees. Shivering, Allison raised her camera and took the first picture after pushing both doors wide open. A large monument caught her sight. The marble staircase which led to the manor's second floor. Something about it looked dangerous, nevertheless too gorgeous to pass capturing on film.

Fifteen minutes passed.

It hadn't taken long for her to feel the rush from a photographers high. She continued to maneuver cautiously around the dusty cobwebbed antiques and battered pieces of roofing that had fallen sporadically in different spots from the second floor. With the assignment completed, Allison made it a mission to try and conquer her fear of heights before leaving.

Approaching the staircase for the second time, she proceeded upwards, daring to achieve the angle she sought very delicately.

After pressing the button, the camera flashed — frame two hundred and eighty-one had not appeared properly on the glowing screen. Allison tried again. Climbing higher along the marble structure, each click of the shutters speed taking her closer towards the top. The female had made it halfway through her ascent when she removed the camera from her face. In front of her stood a body. The outline tall and broad. Caught by surprise, she stepped back issuing a creek that echoed across the room. It was difficult to examine any details. Whomever or whatever it was had been under the cover of shadows.

Allison stopped, frozen, scared stiff. The figure presented itself. Her mouth fell agape as the whites of her eyes widened in terror.
