Beep, beep, beep.

That was the first sound she's ever known. Her heartbeat. The second was the voices. The same cold voices, day after day after day. And numbers, jumbling strings of them, big words she didn't understand.

Beep...beep...

And the third, their heartbeats. The slow beeping of the organ as their chests rose and fell rapidly before the line went flat. And then she was all alone again.

Clink.

She remembered the voices, but never the faces. Little bits and pieces of conversations, small snippets stolen here and there from the scary adults. They had cold eyes, she remembered. There were no emotions in those hollow orbs and no hesitation or gentleness in their touch.

"Doctor—the injection—"

"403, it's time for your medicine—"

She remembered struggling at first at the sight of the needles and pills. But it was futile; she was a child and they were adults. She didn't even know how to read yet, and they were scientists. So she gave up.

"Hold her down—her heartbeat's spiking—"

"Another failure, huh? Toss it out. It's as good as dead."

Bodies being thrown into a cage as its empty-eyed inhabitants could only stare with slack jaws. She was one of them.

"Oh? 403's doing well. Give her a bigger dose."

"But doctor—"

"It's an order. Don't ever let her sleep."

"Understood, Professor ."

(Y/n) woke up with a start. Her eyes flew open and she sat straight up in her bed, her eyes wide and mouth open, although no sounds came out. Little droplets of sweat beaded on her forehead and rolled down down her neck. The clinking of metal restraints, the droning voices, the beeping of a heart monitor—it all rang far louder than what she was comfortable with in her head.

Her hands were trembling, she realized, as she clapped them over her heads and curled in on herself, silent tears pricking the edges of her vision. Her comforter was tangled around her legs like chains, as if it had become alive in her sleep and tried to strangle her. The alarm on her nightstand read five in the morning—no wonder it didn't ring.

Her labored breathing and the pounding of her heart were the only sounds in the emptiness of her bedroom. She closed her eyes and forced herself to calm down. 'It's only a dream,' the (h/c)-haired girl told herself. 'It's gone. They're gone. They can't get me anymore. Everything—everyone's gone.'

It was a vicious cycle for her; either she'd rise like usual on dreamless nights or wake up in a frenzied panic, with an irregular heartbeat and almost hyperventilating. She thought after that incident, everything would be okay. Everything would be normal now that she has a happy family.

But it wasn't. The nightmares only came back after her foster mother's death, and they hit harder than ever. Her only solution was to wear a heart rate monitor choker that she kept hidden under her uniform collar. She was sure not even Reese knew about it.

'90...85...' (Y/n) pressed her fingers to the flat screen on the choker under the red line marking her heartbeat turned blue, and the quiet beeping stopped. 'Good, it's normal now.' She took in a deep breath and let it out.

The girl gingerly slipped her feet into a pair of slippers and padded out her bedroom and into the kitchen. She began fixing herself a quick snack—crackers and apple slices—before heading back to her room and sitting down in front of her desk. Her lips curved up in a soft smile as she nibbled on the crackers and tapped her fingers against the keyboard of her laptop that was turning on.

A few presses on her mouth opened up a new window. Little white letters ran across it, peppered with a few characters of varying colors that might mean nothing to others, but everything to her. (Y/n) typed in a few lines of code that would restrict requests that pried a little too deep into the P4's affairs.

Then she deleted the last few lines after a moment of hesitation. 'Changing keywords to Kim Jaehyun and Leon Matthews,' she thought as she typed. 'Sorry snowman and popsicle, but I'm not responsible for you. And I'm not apologizing for being petty.'

A few more keypresses and her code was up and running. She watched with idle fascination as the code began to iterate through itself in endless loops, going through the thousands of threads and posts on the website, weeding out all inappropriate requests about Jaehyun and Leon and banning them.

'That should do it,' the (h/c)-haired girl mused as she scrolled through the requests page. 'Maybe I should do it for Izzy and the others...but if I do that, it would be too obvious who I am. Either way, it doesn't matter. I won't take requests that might hurt them.'

Her information network had two functions: asking for and giving information. And right now, she just banned asking for information on two of the P4 members. Of course, users could still spread their silly rumors but no one really dared to take those rumors anywhere with the four boys' influence. It was an information network, so (Y/n) wasn't about to exclude anyone from it.

'Seriously,' she sighed as she read through a particularly degrading comment about someone she knew. 'No matter how many times I design a program to censor these words, kids these days are getting more and more creative with insults. "Three-faced cow with herpes on legs?" Who even came up with this?'

Her first instinct was the delete the post. The offensive insult made her a little—scratch that, furious at the user. Who were they to insult her friends? She decided to fire a comment back using a smurf account after tracking down the commenter's IP address.

'Oh, it's this girl.' After going through the school records, (Y/n) recognized the girl as one of Mac-something's lackeys. 'If she's going to insult Lucy, she should've thought the insult out first. It just makes her sound stupid.'

She quickly typed in a comment to the post. 'Unnatural hair colors are a warning signal to stay away,' she wrote. 'It's an example of Aposematism, where plants and animals advertise their toxicity.'

She paused, her fingers hovering over the keys. 'Should I?' (Y/n) debated. 'Yeah, I'll do it.'

'Yvonne Anderson,' she added at the end of her comment and sent it. 'Now we wait.'

Mere minutes passed before the girl responded in a furious onslaught. 'Who the f*ck are you, b*tch?' The girl typed. 'It's against the rules to tell people your real name! How did you even know?!'

In reality, what she actually typed had a lot of typos but that wasn't the point. 'I mean, you go around telling everyone you're Yvonne,' (Y/n) wrote back. 'I'm not breaking any rules.'

'Besides,' she added silently to herself. 'I'm the admin of the site.'

'I'm going to report you!' Yvonne replied angrily. 'You're going to wish you never crossed me!'

'What did I even do though?'

'Y-you insulted me!'

'Oh yeah? What did I say?'

'I don't know, you called me a sematic! That means the Jews, right? You can't assume my religion like that, you b*tch!'

Once upon a time, (Y/n) thought everyone in Fortuna Institute was smart since it was such a prestigious school and everything. But it seems like a good portion of the students, especially those who went up the escalator system their whole life were rather lacking in both common sense and brain cells. That was sort of impressive in its own way.

She decided not to comment and folded her hands behind her head as she leaned back in her seat. 'Someone's going to start calling her out anyway,' the (h/c)-haired girl snickered. 'That would be hilarious to watch.'

Another perk of hosting the site was that she was privy to all the conversations going on in it. It's an invasion of privacy, you say? Bro, her website isn't even on the official Fortuna Institute network. It's on the freaking dark web, where your IP address can be leaked easily.

She never told anyone to use it. The only thing she did when she set up the site half as a joke was leak the URL onto the school forum under an untraceable account. Then everything blew up from there.

One particularly funny exchange was between a few girls that she was 90% sure had the name of Mackenzie and her cronies. (Y/n) felt like she heard that name somewhere...but anyway, they were ranting on about the girls they hated and the guys they liked. To be fair, it was mostly Mackenzie's one-sided tirade. It reminded her of another conversation between Neveah and another girl. (Y/n) found Neveah to be a rather intelligent individual despite her poor taste in guys.

'I mean, snowman? Really?' She wrinkled her nose at the memory of the annoying male. 'Okay, he probably also has his rich people problems that a poor kid like me won't understand, but boy is he a pain in the donkey.'

A new notification popped up on her screen. Oh, they're talking again. (Y/n) had flagged a bunch of conversations on the site she stal—cough—monitored for security reasons. Mainly because her friends' names had popped up in them before. This one, in particular, was between the iconic duo, Mackenzie and Neveah. It was strange since from what she saw, the two hated each other with a passion.

kenzie.taylor: b*tch are you there?

neveahh: Sweetheart, foul words will get you nowhere

neveahh: What's wrong? Did you finally discover that your perfume is just awful?

kenzie.taylor: my perfume is worth more than your face, you plastic sl*t

neveahh: Mhm, sure. I see getting waxed is considered plastic surgery in your dictionary now?

kenzie.taylor: b*tch no, your face is fake

kenzie.taylor: nevermind that, have you been sending your b*tches after my guy? get your claws out of him. he's mine

neveahh: Excuse me?

kenzie.taylor: don't play dumb. i know you sent that fake chick after him

neveahh: Ah, you mean the rumors about Jay having a girlfriend? I have nothing to do with it.

kenzie.taylor: if you're lying to me i will mess you up

neveahh: Lying? Honey, I never lie. I don't need it to get what I want.

neveahh: But I do agree...that (Y/n) is getting a little ahead of herself. The whole school knows Kieran's off-limits.

kenzie.taylor: see? that bitch's out for them all. i hear she rigged the infortunii system to get tristan as a tutor and bribed wright to partner up with leon

kenzie.taylor: that sl*t

neveahh: That is a problem. No wonder you came to me. How rare.

kenzie.taylor: kys, b*tch

neveahh: Love you too, sweetheart.

neveahh: Anyway, I do have a present I'm sending her way...

neveahh: I do hope she enjoys it and learns her lesson.

The conversation left her with mixed feelings. First was the worry. 'Um, that can't be the same (Y/n), right?' She thought fearfully. Then came the exasperation. 'So annoying...this is why I didn't want to get involved with them.' Then the anticipation and amusement. 'Present? Maybe a pillow with a bomb inside? That would make me sooo happy! Double surprise!'

Bombs were great. She wanted to sign up for a military camp last year so she could mess around with them, but her father wouldn't allow her.

'I probably should be worried right now,' the (h/c)-haired girl mused as she logged out. 'I just wanted to spend school in peace...play safe and act smart was my life motto. Sad. Oh well, at least I'm prepared for whatever it is now.'

(Y/n) closed her laptop and pushed her chair away from her desk. 'I'm hungry. Need fuel.' She took her finished plate with her back to the kitchen and made a few quick waffles for herself. Saturdays were pancake days since her dad preferred those, and Sunday were waffles since her mother liked waffles more. It's become a tradition in the White family that neither her or her father was willing to give up. She herself preferred (w/p) so she was fine with that.

(A/N: (w/p) is waffles or pancakes. I didn't want to start a fight :>)

The (h/c)-haired girl nonchalantly popped a handful of cereal in her mouth while tearing into her waffles, actions that would make Reese cry and Jasper back away if they were here. Then her phone rang from her bedroom.

'Speak of the devil and he shall appear,' she mused as she went back to her room and checked the caller ID. She picked it up.

"My friend," (Y/n) said through a mouth full of waffles. "Do you know that texting is a thing? And why are you awake at seven in the morning?"

"I couldn't sleep," Reese's happy voice said. "I had a feeling you'd be awake so I called!"

"Ew, what if I was sleeping?"

"Um, I don't know. If you were, please don't kill me, madam."

She sighed and sat back down before her desk. "Sorry, sir, but interrupting my sleep is a capital sentence. Straight to the guillotine you go."

"Nooo! I'm sorry, (N/n). I won't do it again!"

"Kidding. Anyway, what do you want?"

"Isn't someone is a good mood on this bright and early morning?"

"I will pull your hair out and feed it to you—"

"Uh, I mean, are you free today?"

(Y/n) furrowed her brow and checked her calendar. "Nah, I'm too busy catching up on my sleep. Whaddya want?"

"Jas invited us to go to the pool," the redhead said. "You never check the group chat so I called. Then we'll probably get dinner and hang out at his place."

"Oh."

"And...?"

"Okay," she said simply as she reopened her laptop. She heard him cough at the other end.

"Okay as in 'okay I'll go' or 'okay I know?'"

"Okay, I'll go, you ding dong," (Y/n) scowled. "What else could it mean?"

"Last time it was 'okay I'll kill you.'"

"You probably deserved it."

"Hey!" Reese protested angrily. "How could you kill me? I mean, I'm me! Reese Grayson! What isn't there to like?"

(Y/n) faked a cough and switched her phone to her other hand. "Ahem, bzz, bzz. I think I'm losing you...sorry, bad connection."

"Oi."

"Sorry, say that again? Your ego was so big it messed up my signal."

"I know what else is b—"

"Speaking of like," she quickly interrupted before the red-haired male churned out another dirty joke he himself didn't understand. "How was your date with Izzy? She refused to tell us anything, and I still haven't gotten anything from Lucy."

"Oh, that. That was mean, you ditched me even though you promised you'd go with me!"

"Hoes over bros. Sorry, dude."

She heard him make crying sounds, no doubt faking sobbing. "And here I thought I was your best bro..."

"That spot's taken, sorry."

"By who?!"

"Carrie, obviously," the (h/c)-haired girl said matter-of-factly. "Who else could it be?"

"But she's a girl! Wouldn't it at least be Jas?"

"Details, details. Jas is best mom, duh. Stop trying to distract me. Spill. Now."

He sighed and made a reluctant sound. "Fine, fine. It went great, I guess." She waited for him to say more, but he didn't.

"And?" (Y/n) asked. "That's it?"

"What else am I supposed to say?"

"I don't know, like how did it go? Did you have fun or something?"

"You're really sounding like my mom here—"

"I will feed you to the cookie monster, you—"

"Okay, okay! It was good. We caught a movie and then went out to eat."

She wanted to hit him and then herself. "Just good? You...didn't feel any different or anything?" 'And after all my hard work,' she sobbed. 'I suck as a wing girl in the first place, so don't make this any harder for me, Reese!'

"Feel what?" He asked in a genuinely confused tone. "Did you spike my drink before we left?"

"No, you fool. I mean towards Izzy."

"Myers? That plum? I guess we weren't arguing as much that day?"

'How can a person be so dense?' (Y/n) facepalmed and prevented herself from groaning out loud. 'I'm sure Izzy was doing her part in...um, whatever you do on dates. So how does he still not see that?! Wait...'

"I have a very important question, Reese," she said seriously. "You must answer seriously for the sake of mankind."

"Okay...?"

"Be honest. Are you heterosexual or homosexual?"

There was a moment of silence on the line as the redhead slowly processed her question before doubling over in a coughing fit. "W-w-what's with that out of the blue?" He stammered, still coughing. "I—you—what—"

"Just answer it."

"I-I guess I'm hetero?" He said timidly. "Why?"

"Oh, that's good then!" (Y/n) sighed in relief. 'Good thing I didn't send Izzy on a date with someone aiming for the wrong field.'

"G-good?" Reese stuttered. Unbeknownst to the (h/c)-haired girl, his face was turning pinker and pinker, almost as red as his trademark hair. His hand tightened on the device as he held it closer to his ears despite having earbud on. "What is that supposed to mean?"

'Oh right,' the girl mused. 'He's still a dense alien.' "Did Izzy say anything to you?"

"Huh? Nothing special, really. What's with all these questions?"

"Bro, you're an idiot."

"And why are you insulting me now?! What did I do?"

'Gotta pull out the big guns,' (Y/n) nodded to herself. 'On second thought, is this smart? I might make it worse for her. Lemme just text Jas real quick.' "One second," she said to Reese as she fired off a text to the navy blue-haired male, hoping he was awake. And knowing him, Jasper probably was.

The male responded quickly. 'Go ahead,' he texted. 'Knowing Reese, that dense idiot, he'll never get it unless we tell him.'

Now that she's gotten Jasper the therapist's approval, she was free to ask the real question.

"Reese, do you like anyone right now?"

He began coughing violently again. "G-give me a moment, I need a glass of water...Okay, I'm good now. Say that again?"

"Do you like anyone?" She repeated. There was no going back now. It was now or never. "As in the romantic kind of like. Do you?"

Reese cleared his throat and recomposed himself. "I—uh, maybe...no?"

'Is that a good thing or a bad thing?' She tapped her chin in thought. 'Relationships are confusing. This means Izzy has a chance but it also means he doesn't like her right now. I'm confused.'

"You sure?" (Y/n) asked again. "Is there really no one?"

"I—w-why are you asking? That kind of thing is embarrassing!"

"True, you've probably become a real tomato now. But are you sure you don't have anyone you like?"

"No! M-maybe."

"So is that a yes or no?"

He made an incomprehensible sound on the phone that reminded her of a blown-up balloon losing air, and the line went dead. "Huh? Reese? Wow, he just ran off. Rude." At least she managed to get something out of him. Her phone's message tone rang. It was a new text from Reese, telling her he's going to come to pick her up at eleven.

'This dumb freak,' she raised an eyebrow and shook her head. She fired back a quick text telling him to pick Isla up instead. Afterward, she texted Jasper for a ride. After all, (Y/n) had no idea where they were going. The navy blue-haired male agreed. He was going to get Lucinda and Carmen first, since they three lived in the dorms, before coming over to (Y/n)'s place which was conveniently on the way to the pool.

'Why are we going swimming anyway?' The (h/c)-haired girl thought as she flopped down on her bed. 'I get that it's almost summer but still. Spring is still cold so I classify it as winter. But it was still better than going bowling or playing billiards.' The first hurt her hands and feet and the latter was boring. Who wanted to poke a bunch of balls with a stick all day?

A few hours passed until it was their arranged time, eleven o'clock. She had spent it sleeping, unsurprisingly. Even with the interruption in her sleep schedule, she woke up feeling refreshed but still lazy at the same time. At least she wasn't utterly exhausted.

There was a knock on her door as her doorbell rang. 'Probably Jas, unless the security guard is the new one who doesn't know their faces.' The building's usual guard is used to the group of friends crashing the (h/c)-haired girl's place, so he usually lets them in with a simple nod. But if it was the newly hired one, she made them go through the whole identification process. Simply put, it was a pain.

She rolled out of her bed and rolled down the hallway towards her door. Sliding the chain off and unlocking it, she was greeted with a pair of very shiny converses.

"W-woah!" Jasper jumped back before he stepped on her face. He coughed into his fist to compose himself and bent down. "Let's work on your greeting next time, shall we?" Her only answer was an incomprehensible grunt and a snore.

"Aren't you agreeable today?" He raised an eyebrow. "At least you're dressed. Come on, Lucy and Carmen are waiting in the car downstairs."

"Okay..." (Y/n) peeled herself off the floor, picked up her bag, and locked the door behind her. The two took the elevator down to the lobby and with a wave to the security guard, they exited the building and piled into Jasper's overly extra car. At least he didn't take his limousine this time.

True to his word, Lucinda and Carmen were already there. The brunette was chugging down cans of soda while tearing into a bag of chips. The blonde was scrolling through her social media on her phone. Her eyes flickered up at the sound of the car door opening and the light that flooded the interior.

"You're slow," Lucinda said, her eyes shifting back to her screen. "What were you doing, running a marathon? You look tired."

"I just woke up," (Y/n) answered as she sat down next to her. "Blame Reese."

"Typical." She pocketed her phone and crossed her arms. "I heard a certain someone told him to pick Isla up today. I wonder who that could be?"

(Y/n) shrugged. "It's a real mystery, alright."

Lucinda gave her a pointed look before a grin broke out across her features. She reached over and ruffled the other girl's hair. "Good job, (Y/n)! Sooner or later the two's going to end up together"—she twined her middle and pointer fingers—"That's totally wild, but I'll allow it."

"What are you, her mom?"

"I prefer the term 'guardian angel,' thank you very much. Someone's gotta look out for that ditz or she'll end up with the wrong guy one of these days." There was an undertone laced into her seemingly carefree words that (Y/n) couldn't quite place her finger on. Was it regret? Or bitterness? Anger at a similar situation she went through? Whatever it is, (Y/n) decided not to pry.

"Are your seatbelts on?" Jasper called from the front seat. A chorus of 'yes's made him nod in satisfaction. "Good. We can go now, Andrew." The driver nodded in response and started the car, speeding down the road towards the highway.

"Are Isla and Reese meeting us there?" (Y/n) asked halfway into the ride. "How are they going to get there?"

"Mr. Grayson lent Reese his car," Jasper answered off-handedly. "And yeah, we'll meet them there."

"I wanted to go to the beach," Lucinda scowled. "Pools are gross."

"It's a private pool, Lucy. And it's more like a waterpark than a pool. I trust that you all packed your swimsuits?"

(Y/n) peeked into her bag. "Yup."

"Uh, I brought a suit," Carmen said with a mouthful of chips. "If I swim in it, is it a swimsuit?"

"Parker, I swear to god—"

"Geez, chill, dude! I was just kidding! I even brought sanitizer and wet wipes!"

Jasper relaxed and sank back into his seat. "How about you, Lucy?"

"Who do think I am?" Lucinda scoffed as she reapplied her makeup with her phone camera. "I obviously brought one and extras in case the others forgot theirs."

Carmen looked over and stopped shoving chips in her mouth. "D'ya bring my bat?"

"Oh, that thing? I thought I snapped it in half—"

The brunette began hacking violently. She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and reached forward to shake the blonde by her shoulders. "You did WHAT?! That was my precious treasure, Lucy!"

"Chill, I was joking. It's still in my closet."

"Oh, okay then," Carmen quieted. "Wait, what about my stash of m&ms and helium bags?!"

(Y/n) groaned as she covered her ears and rolled over. 'I knew a quiet car ride was too much to ask for.'

WATER:PARK

━━━━━༻ ❀ ༺━━━━━

мσяηιηg

Normal people made the most of their trip to a private waterpark, which included frolicking with friends and family. But (Y/n) was an alien, which she preferred to spend her time floating in a swim ring. The current had carried her away from the rest of the group, but she didn't mind. They were all in the same enclosure, after all. Even with her lack of directional sense, she'd somehow find her way back.

'Sleeping on the water isn't so bad,' the (h/c)-haired girl realized with a start. 'Maybe I should buy a water bed...but what if I drown in my sleep? Nevermind then.'

Lush, viridescent plant growth flanked both sides of the water stream, with tall, draping palm trees and colorful, leafy bushes. In the distance, she saw golden sand sparkling under the sunlight that peeked in through the glass that enclosed the space. Further ahead were a few buildings and tables where the friends were to meet up.

'Finally, peace and quiet,' she thought with a relieved sigh. 'Floating with the current without any work needed. This is the life.' She took a sip of her (f/d) she grasped in her hand. 'Yup, I should camp here for the rest of my life. I'll just live off these plants. Green energy, you know. Saving the earth and all that good stuff I don't care about.'

She began floating so far downstream she couldn't hear the others' rambunctious voices anymore, but she didn't pay any attention to it. All she could focus on was the tranquility of the situation, the calm waters that surrounded her, and the cool breeze that melted off the stream and caressed her skin gently. The trees that flanked the waters blocked the sunlight from hitting her face—she'd have to thank the waterpark's designers someday.

Maybe it was just her, but she was beginning to hear things. Before all the (h/c)-haired girl heard were the sounds of birds chirping and the occasional roar. Totally normal in a waterpark, right? But why was she hearing sounds that sounded strangely humanlike? No, it was more like...childlike.

"H-hi," came a frightened little voice from somewhere to the side. "A-are you a-alive, miss?"

(Y/n) ignored it and kept her eyes closed. It's probably a parrot or something.

"H-hello?"

'Holy cheeseballs, that's no parrot.'

Her eyes flew open and locked onto the source of the voice. It was a small black-haired child with tearful wide eyes dressed in a little hoodie. His face brightened at the sight of her revival. "So you were alive!" He said happily. "I thought you were dead."

'This kid reminds me of someone,' she thought as she squinted at him and rubbed her eyes. 'Two people, actually.' Then to the boy, "What are you doing here? Are you lost?"

The boy stared at her before bursting into tears. (Y/n) blanched and began to panic. 'Is my face really that scary?' "S-sorry, kid! I didn't mean to make you cry! Here, let's get you some ice cream, okay?" She swam towards him and got onto solid land. Awkwardly, she crouched down and wiped the tears from his face with her hand. I have no idea what to do. 'I'm an aspiring bed tester, not a daycare teacher!'

"Kid, where are your parents?" She tried again. "That was a dumb question. You're lost. What's your name?"

He sniffled and bunched the bottom of his hoodie into his fists. "My name is Conan. W-what about you, miss?"

"I'm (Y/n)," she said with the gentlest smile she could muster. Little wolf, huh? "How did you get here?"

"I-I was playing with my big brother, but then when I turned around, he was gone. A-and I somehow found my way here, even though I promised I wouldn't wander off! Brother's going to be so worried, b-but I didn't mean to cause him trouble, honest!"

"Your brother? Who's your brother?"

His face visibly lit up, his silver eyes sparkling eagerly. "Leon! He's the best brother in the wholeee world!" He began waving his hands around, his sorrow forgotten. "I love him thisss much!" Conan spread his arms with a smile that nearly blinded the (h/c)-haired girl.

"Leon?" (Y/n) racked her head for a face to attach to the name. "Ah! Do you mean broody ze—um, Leon Matt-something?"

Conan looked confused but relieved at the same time. "You know him, miss?"

"Yeah, we go to the same school. Fortuna, right?"

"Yup! I'm going to go there when I grow up too! Brother promised!"

(Y/n) could not imagine that irritable zebra having such an energetic little brother. Conan was like Leon, Jaehyun, and Reese all in one package. Leon's looks, Jaehyun's initial shyness, and Reese's bubbliness. The little boy's energy was even getting to her. 'Unreal, I know right.'

She patted his head and rose to her feet. (Y/n) extended a hand towards him. "Let's go back first," she told him. "My friends are somewhere back there. They should know how to contact your brother, okay?"

His smile shot thousands of little arrows into her heart. "Okay!"
