8 8 - Declaration 1

As soon as they landed, a team organized by Shihiro, George's cousin, was already there to escort them to the ancestral home. Rafa did not join them as he still has business in Europe. He only made a sidetrip for his beloved sister.

As usual, Shihiro is the one taking the wheels while George and Cody were seated in the backseat. He noticed that something is off with the way George is acting so he couldn't help but glance at his favorite cousin every so often.

Noticing him, George said, "Spill it out, Hiro. If you'd rather keep your thoughts to your self then better keep your eyes on the road."

Hiro did not respond but kept on driving instead. They finally reached the family estate and George was escorted to her designated bailey. Cody was also guided to one that was prepared for important guests.

They didn't see each other until after dinner when the ceremonies for the celebration of the clan's successes started. Aki, George's grandfather, greeted all the guest and called her to join him right after.

"My friends, tonight, my family decided to present to all our friends and associates the one that will inherit my seat in the family, the society and in all our businesses. May I formally introduce to you, my heiress, Georgina Abe-Tang."

The crowd applauded and raised their glasses to give their congratulations to George then the old man continued.

"You all know how we dote on her and of course, I can't let her handle the burden alone. The whole family will assist her in all aspects but tonight, I would also like to announce a great news... The Abes have always been friends with the Tangs of the mainland for generations. Our forefathers made a blood compact that the wealth of the two families will be consolidated. After centuries of waiting, I am pleased that finally, descendants that are neither both males nor both females were finally born."

"Chu, come here, boy... Ladies and gentlemen, this here is my grandson-in-law, Tang Chu. As my dear Georgina's husband, he will be making sure that my granddaughter will not tire herself out taking care of family and business matters."

George was surprised by her grandfather's announcement and remembered that Cody called her wife earlier.

She took note of that but acted as if she also knows the fact about their marriage. She instinctively placed her arm around Cody's waist and looked up to him with a gentle smile. He placed his arm around her shoulders and gave her a light peck on her forehead.

The guests were appreciative of the love they see in the couple. Well wishers slowly gathered around them, each one offering a toast.

Cody wasn't aware of George's alcohol tolerance so he ended up drinking for her as they both accepted the guests goodwill.

It wasn't until dawn arrived before all the guests left. Aki stayed up to accept the blessings and praises for the couple.

"Grandpa, you should go ahead and rest. You must be exhausted."

But the old man simply shook his head to his treasured granddaughter saying, "My precious girl, I have something important to discuss with you and your husband."
