10 10 - Knowing You 1

Cody and George were guided to their bailey by the appointed servants.

Aware of how physically and emotionally drained his wife was, Cody urged her to have a warm bath. When she got out if the bathroom, she was alone in the room but a pajama set was already prepared for her. She also noticed a glass of milk on the bedside table. She quickly changed, drunk the milk and decided to look for him.

She found him outside the bedroom, reading some files. "You're still working? Shouldn't you get some shut eye now? ... Thanks, by the way." She reluctantly voiced her gratitude for the comfortable clothes and warm milk.

"You're welcome," he said without glancing at her.

She passed by him to wash the glass and uttered a quiet "Goodnight" as she walked back to their bedroom. She figured he probably have urgent work to do so she went to bed straight away. Besides, she is still not comfortable being around him considering how they ended up together.

He only muttered "hmm", still without looking up. He let out a sigh of relief when he heard the door closing behind her. He didn't need to work in the early morning hours but he feared he won't be able to control his desire, so he decided to step out.

He was afraid he would pounce on her when she comes out of the bathroom. He is really attracted to his wife. He didn't go in until he was certain that she was already asleep.

Although there were servants assigned to them, he still got out of bed early to prepare her breakfast. He told the staff not to let her know that he cooked for her.

He woke her up after setting the table and they ate together in companionable silence. She liked the food being served but felt that they don't taste the same as before. She assumed it was probably just because she is still exhausted that they seem different.

They walked to the courtyard after finishing their first meal.

"I am still in shock with all this arrangement," George said to break the silence but Cody did not respond.

"Look, Cody. I know this is inconvenient for you, too. Maybe we could end this marriage after a year or maybe even a few months."

"Not gonna happen, love."

"But why? Isn't this just a business transaction?"

"Not, for me."

"Listen. My grandfather has put you in a tight spot but I don't want to tie you down."

"I won't mind. It's with you that I am tied down with, so all is good."

"I don't understand."

"Sweetheart, the moment you walked into the conference room yesterday, I knew I would be spending the rest of my lifetime with you."

"But you don't even know me, Cod."

"Oh, but I do my sweet. Your aura is very similar to your grandfather's. Though you don't look alike, you have similar air around you. And I felt that you are it for me."

"Don't say that, please. I don't want to be in another relationship."

"But I want to be with you."

"Cod..."

"George, we are both adults here. Let's make this marriage work, alright?"

"I don't think so. I don't have what it takes to be married. My first was a complete failure. This is bound to go down the drain, too."
