12 Meet Lilyan

Once we were safe in my world, I had her hide her wings. It took about an hour for us to figure out how to hide mine enough so that people wouldn’t freak out if they saw me. Unlike her wings, which slid easily into her skin, my wings had to be pressed uncomfortably against my back, beneath my jacket. It made sitting in the truck awkward, but I had got settled and start driving. I had to explain to her that normal people here didn’t know about fairies and other creatures, that if they found out, we would most likely be hunted and tortured with tests. She didn’t understand why they couldn’t just accept that everyone is different; I don’t understand it either, but it was just the way things are.
