2 Tian Chen's decision

The person he saw, was now walking over to Tian Chen as he asked. Tian Chen, who had no idea of what the person was saying, couldn't help but ask hesitantly. He was hesitant because he could now the person that looked like an old man with a long white beard and hair. The old man seemed a bit ancient as he wore a white robe that matched the ancient Chinese culture.

"I-I'm sorry old sir, b-but how can I h-help you when I don't even have the strength to move, much less stand up and even less possible to help," spoke Tian Chen hesitantly.

"Hoho, sorry child but what I want is a person who can help me carry my legacy. I have waited here for Eons as I watched Eras pass only to wait for a certain someone with a clear heart and a good personality." explained the old man with a few emotions of loneliness as he continued...

"And as someone finally came who had what I was searching for, his soul got destroyed by someone who seemed to be chasing after him the moment he came here. I was rather angry, at how I finally found someone but someone actually ruined it all," he said as he thought for a bit before explaining what he did next...

"But since the body was still intact that could reside a young soul, I decided to risk it once and for all to use a fourth of my remaining power to summon a suitable person with the help of the Soul Lightning. Thus, you came to be in your current situation. I know it is hard for you to accept but I had no choice as my time is running out. If the Legacy isn't continued, then there is a chance of a very big crisis to emerge," he spoke, as he looked at Tian Chen in front of him with expectations while showing a sad expression.

Tian Chen then thought for a moment before answering him a sad tone, "I understand old sir, I would love to help but I have no way of doing that, at least not in my current miserable state. To be honest, I don't know what I can or should do..."

The old man then spoke in a reassuring to him tone, "Hmm, that state can be taken care of with some of my remaining power but only if you promise me to help me carry my legacy. I know that it may seem like I'm forcing you but I have no choice as my current state itself has been reduced to nothing but of a mere wisp of the soul that will disappear with the passage of time and that's why I must it on so that it doesn't disappear. In this world where only the strong can survive, you will need power and my legacy can provide you with it."

After hearing all this, Tian Chen sank deep into his thoughts as he tried to find an answer to the old man's offer, even though he had the answer all along thanks to his sickly life which allowed him to gain knowledge of things such as what happens in a world where 'powers' exist by reading Novels.

Although reading and experiencing are two completely different things, he knew that his current decision would affect his entire 'new' life that he had just gained. He also knew that a chance like this is something that only the most fated ones can get.

That is why he felt like his heart and mind were urging him to accept as he had a yearning for living in such a world and he then thought of this old man in front of him had given him a second chance to live a life of his choice as he had only lived a life filled with sickness. Even though he had his parents and a brother by his side as they showered him with love so that he wouldn't feel sad.

But who would want to live a life where one could do nothing but to lay in bed while waiting for his/her life's demise. When his thoughts reached this point, something awoke within him. Something which every living being possesses.

The will to live and survive as he remembered the moment he died as tears started to appear in his eyes as he thought of how his family would be fairing when they got news of his death. He then gritted his teeth hard as he apologized with sadness in his mind, ``I am sorry father, mother, and big brother... I couldn't live through the operation...I couldn't hold on long any enough...I tried as hard as I could even though I failed...´´

Then his eyes became a bit sharp as an unspoken resolves appeared within as he spoke in his mind with determination ``BUT NOW, I promise to you all that I will never give up no matter what and I will try to live a happy life. I am sure that's what you wanted from me as well right? So please watch over me as I live in this cruel world...´´ while trying to suppress his sadness.

His face showed a determined look as he finally spoke his answer, the answer the old man in front of him had waited for, the answer that will affect his entire new life..."Thank you, thank you very much for giving me this opportunity to live a new life. I am willing to inherit your legacy and I promise that I will never let your legacy die so long as I live."

The old man who had been waiting the entire time for Tian Chen to make his decision couldn't help but show a kind and happy smile as he started his explanation on what the Legacy was all about..."Good, I indeed didn't make a mistake with risking it to summon you and as I can see, you have lived a sad life so far which would have come to an end If I didn't summon you. You have gratitude young one, for saving this old me from disappearing from the world with regret."
