3 A Legacy from Unknown Times (Part 1)

"Alright then let's get started right away since delaying time any longer will only mean less time for me to train you, " said the old man as he paused a moment before asking the young one's name while introducing himself, "You can call me Old Shandian. What about you though, what is your name young one?"

To which the boy answered, "I am Tian Chen. You can call me anything you want Old Shandian."

Hearing Tian Chen's name, old lightning nodded with a small smile as he spoke..."Alright then. But before we start, let us first go to a better place where no one will disturb us, because the process of the inheritance is going to be hard even though I will try to make it as easy as possible."

After saying that, the scenery changed as it as dark and before Tian Chen knew it, he was already in a place of nothingness as he floated in the darkness with the only light being Old Shandian as he had a thin layer of light all over his soul.

Old Shandian then started explaining what the inheritance was all about and what Tian Chen should know about, "I shall now introduce myself once more, I am or rather was the God of Light and Thunder. Lightning for short which also has another name 'Shandian'. I was once something that you would call a 'True' God with the rank of Supreme. Well, the ranks are something you will know of when you reach the peak of the mortal realm."

After saying that, he paused for a second as he continued, "Ranks of Gods and Mortals is something you will about in due time. For now, you will start the inheritance by going through the process of tempering to a certain degree. By tempering, I mean to strengthen the soul and body to a certain degree with your mental strength as the base and your energy as the medium."

With that, he started explaining what he would go through first, "First of all, will be the tempering of your Body as it seems that your soul has reached minor perfection in strength. For your body tempering, I will divide it into 3 stages. The first stage is repairing and transforming the body which includes your skin, blood vessels, meridians, bones, and muscles. The second stage is strengthening all the internal organs and the last stage is merging with my bloodline. Any questions?" he asked as he stopped there.

Tian Chen, who heard till here, just asked one thing, "Will It be painful?"

Old Shandian only said, "Yes, as it will transform your body, but it will only be for a short time. After that, you will only feel better," as a simple explanation.

Tian Chen just smiled bitterly as he braced himself for it because this old man had given him a second chance and would not do something bad right? So, he just decided to go along with it as he couldn't do anything about it anyway and he was actually a little excited hearing that he would feel even better than before.

After all, he had lived a bedridden life till so he was naturally excited hearing that it would feel better. Tian Chen then just replied with, "Let us start right away as we can do the rest of it later," as he had a thoughtful expression on his face.

Old Shandian just chuckled as he said, "Smart child. It is indeed what I had planned as well since a broken body would not be able to inherit anything at all because it wouldn't be able to handle it. Alright then let's start right away as this is the best place to do that. Keep in mind that your heart and mind must remain calm. Don't lose yourself in the pain or else things might get worse."

He then waved his hand as a circular formation appeared underneath with Tian Chen located at the center. Old Shandian's eyes turned white as he activated and started controlling the formation. As soon as he got started, Tian Chen got surrounded in white shining mist as it slowly began to take the shape of a white-colored ball type barrier which completely blocked his connection to the outside world.

Tian Chen had his eyes open the whole time even though he could see nothing. The ball then started to release a white aura with a purplish aura mixed within. When that aura came into contact with his body, he experienced something that he had never had before. The pain was far worse than what he had experienced just a while back.

He started to scream as his expression started to become pale as he thought, ``Damn...damn..it..kughhhhh....this is equivalent to torture...Is this.....even called transf...orming the body?..... I gotta hold on...´´ as the old man's voice rang in his ears, "You must hang on, because only then will you be able to live in this world. Don't give up if you wish to live a good life."

This helped him strengthen his resolve a bit as he had started succumbing to pain. All he could do was wait while hoping for this hellish pain would pass as the transformation of his body continued for another half an hour.

Soon, 30 mins passed as the process of tempering was at a critical point. Tian Chen was still screaming with pain as he was going crazy from it and that he was about to lose consciousness. He had his teeth clenched as he was trying his best to endure the pain and remain conscious as he thought, ``Damn...it...Am I going to lose myself at this time? After going through all this?.´´

He was currently on the brink of losing as he suddenly remembered his family and their last words before his operation had begun. He remembered their faces as those words echoed in his mind one again.

At that time, they had only said one thing, ``Little Chen, remember one thing. No matter what happens in your life. You must never give up because you won't be able to live the kind of life you want if you do give up. You can do it, we all know that you can because you are our little Chen aren't you? You have dreams to fulfill don't you? That's why you must move forward, only then will you survive the storms of your life.´´

Those last words triggered a rush of emotions within him as he struggled for the very last time because he knew that it was now or never. And thus, he managed to survive as the process came to an end and the pain started to reduce. A smile formed on his face as he started laughing happily while thinking of how great he was feeling. This was a feeling that he had never had before.

The feeling of being alive and healthy as he could feel an increase in his body strength. But before he could say something out loud, he lost consciousness. Maybe because he was too tired from the whole body tempering or maybe he was mentally exhausted because of all the events he had gone through.
