It was my turn next.
I got to the starting line. I channeled energy throughout my body. I was able to cover my feet with thick amount of energy, creating an armor-like shape around my feet, and then distributed the energy I usually would focus on my arms, around the rest of my body instead, to cover it with a weaker lightning coat. I do that to make sure I don't injure myself while running.
(A/N: think of luck from black clover but just the feet)
That's the closest thing I currently have to Godspeed, or raikage lightning chakra cloak.
I looked at the conductor, indicating I'm ready.
The signal went off.
I took off but not too fast, or I'll miss the targets.
The first target was to my right, I felt it with my observation haki, before I saw it with my eyes, which made me understand just how op observation haki is.
I sent a punch towards the target, but I missed the bullseye by just an inch.
I didn't think about it too much and continued running.
The next target was also to my right but just as I was about to kick it, I felt another target coming from my left. So instead of kicking, I punched and then twisted my body and sent a kick to the other target, the second my foot touched the target, the target got completely destroyed.
I kept running, while I kept myself focused as much as I can. It was a bit of a challenge to filter the information I was getting with my observation haki, but after the years of using it constantly I was able to go through the course without any issues. I finished the course in about three and half minutes. I could feel the adrenaline rush from using my abilities. As someone who lived in a world where superpowers were just a fantasy, using them was so thrilling.
Aska stood at the finish line looking at the course and the aftermath behind him
'I want to do more, I want to unlock more of my abilities. I want to move at the speed of lightning. I want to drop 200 million volts attacks, I want to learn armament and advanced armament haki, I want to use advanced observation, I want to do a lot of things. I know I have potential, I know I can do it' -Aska thought as he felt the rush of using power.
"You did great Aska!!" I could hear mom shouting from the sidelines.
Just as I was walking towards mom, the boy who could increase the temperature of his body approached me.
"Wow that was cool, I never saw anyone our age who could do this course this quick!" Said the boy
"Thanks, it was nothing special really" -Aska said with a smile as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Ohh, sorry I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Lenox Burns, I'm the second son of Leonard Burns"
(A/N: for the sake of convenience, I'll skip over language barriers)
"Nice to meet you, my name is Aska Minamoto. If you don't mind me asking what is your quirk? I saw you go through the course before me. But I couldn't figure it out." -Aska
"I can increase the temperature of my body" -Lenox
'I figured that much' thought Aska as he looked at the boy for more, but the boy didn't add more.
Lenox was a nice boy, him and Aska chatted for some time, talking about each other's quirks.
Seeing me talking with someone my age, mom didn't interrupt, she just stood looking at us with a gentle smile on her face.
"Do you also want to be a hero, Lenox?" -Aska
"I do. So you also want to be a hero, figures. You will be a strong hero. Where do you want to study, I want to go to Atlas Hero Academy in America, what about you?" -Lenox
"I want to go to UA, it's the best after all" -Aska
Talked with Lenox, for half an hour about a bunch of things.
'I never thought I could hold a conversation with someone this young for this long without getting bored' thought Aska as he looked at his new friend.
"Hey Aska, do you want to try the other courses?" - Lenox
"Yeah, let's go" -Aska
"Oh, by the way, the next one I'll get first place" - Lenox
"No way, I'll do better than you!" - Aska
Aska for some reason felt comfortable talking with Lenox.
Aska and Lenox went through all the courses available for younger people, which were about 15 courses in total. Aska was generally faster that Lenox, but Lenox had stronger hits.
After hours of playing around the two decided to get something to eat.
"Hey mom can we get some food" I ran towards mom, who was always following us but not interrupting us, who currently was standing at the sideline of the last course.
When I got closer, I could see another woman with jet black hair who looked to be in her mid thirties talking with mom.
Seeing me approach mom said "come here Aska, say hi"
"umm… hello ma'am my name is Aska, nice to meet you" -Aska bowed slightly
"Hello Aska, I'm Lenox's mother, my name is Serena Burns. I hope you kids had fun" -Serena
"Yeah we did, but I'm hungry mom can we get something to eat" this time it was Lenox who answered, approaching from behind me.
"Now Lenox, how many times do I have to remind you to introduce yourself first" said Serena to Lenox, reminding him to introduce himself to mom.
"Yes, right, sorry ma'am. My name is Lenox Burns. It's my pleaser to meet you" -Lenox said to mom, who chuckled "how cute, it's a pleaser to meet you too Lenox" -mom
After introductions, all four of us went and had lunch together. I was hungry from all that activity, so I ate more than usual.
After lunch it was time for us to go to showroom 13 since it was almost time for the viewing. Since I didn't have a phone, or an email, I made sure to write down Lenox's email address on a piece of paper. I told him I'll make an email when I get back to the hotel room, and will send him an email, so that he can stay in touch.
[On our way to the viewing venue]
"Hey Aska, did you have fun today?" -mom
"Yeah, why do you ask?" -Aska
"It's just you never looked so happy interacting with someone your age before" -mom
"Lenox is nice, and he doesn't sound stupid like the other kids" -Aska
Mom and I walked towards our destination while chatting about random stuff.
When we got there the show had just started, but I don't think we missed anything important.
There was just as much people as yesterday.
This time there were a few gadgets, that really interested me.
The first was an arm guard, which could store impacts and hits it receives and turn into Kinetic energy, and then release that energy in the form of a shockwave. It could store a certain amount, and of course the more energy it stores the bigger the impact created.
The second gadget was a cape, which was a perfect insulator, could take a hit from a machine gun without any damage, doesn't absorb water, and is resistant to fire.
The last and most awesome gadget was a mask. The mouth part was retractable. The eye part had night vision, heat vision, a recording camera, and the ear part had radio channels, with the ability to switch between channels with different wavelengths. The mouth part acts as a gas mask. And to top it all of, there was an AI with an interface that could analyze the surroundings. Almost like Ironman.
'I'll get one of those for sure' thought Aska
After a long viewing, I got to try the mask.
It's every bit as exciting as it sounded.
It can even record people's facial features and voices, and identity them later.
"Dad, can we get one of those masks. I really like it" - Aska
"Well Aska, I don't think it will be mass produced. You see, this one in particular, is to showcase our ability. It's not something that will be sold in the market." -dad
"What do you mean?" -Aska
"It's to attract big heroes who are looking for custom pieces, we are just letting them know what options they could have when they commission us for equipment" -dad
"Can you get one for me anyway? I never ask for anything, please" -Aska tried to pull his best puppy eyes.
Looking at my eyes dad couldn't resist. "Ok, I'll see what I can do. But this gadgets will be a waste to give to you now. How about I'll try to get it for you when you enter UA. Most likely it would get upgraded by the time you get to that point." -dad
"I thought you said it was just to show off" -Aska
"That's true, we try to show off our technology with a big project like that, once every a few years or so" -dad
After the show, we went for dinner, and then we walked around the island, we ran into a few pro heroes from all over the world, we got some pictures and autographs. We did some shopping, and then went back to the hotel.
