1 The Awakening

On Earth, in the middle of a rural village, Levi our protagonist is seen tossing and turning in his sleep.

Born in your average middle-class family with 1 sister and decent grades, Levi was no different from the average 16-year-old.

He enjoyed going parties, video games, everything your average teenage boy enjoys and nothing to differentiate him from your stereotypical teenage boy.

Whilst scrolling through his YouTube recommendations Levi stumbled across an animal documentary about lions and how lion prides function. He slowly but surely uncovered his love for felines from thereon out.

2 hours prior to the present...

After discovering his love for big cats Levi stumbled across an article about 'Hercules' which seems to be the largest known liger alive. Levi immediately found himself resonating a bit with this specific animal, but he brushed it off as something insignificant.

After finishing school Levi went for a hot shower, watched some more big cat shows and casually drifted off to his dreamscape.

10 minutes prior to the present...

You know the saying 'your life flashes before your eyes moments before death', we'll that's exactly what's happening to our protagonist except he's experiencing 2 different beings.

The first being was a majestic African lion named 'Arthur' that was once the leader of a lion pride consisting of over 50 females which he ruled with his twin brother.

They ruled over a large territory for numerous year winning countless run-ins with other lion pride's and hunting the mightiest of prey such as elephants and giraffes regularly.

All was good until he encountered them. 'humans', Arthur was warned by those before him of the dangers they possess, obviously which he did not take to heart. Unfortunately for Arthur, caution is the parent of safety and he nothing of that.

For the first time in his lifetime Arthur felt powerless in front of those humans. He thought there was nothing left in the world that could faze him, or so he thought.

He later learnt that he was just a frog in a well, only seeing a small portion of the sky.

He stood no chance whatsoever, only running could save himself. But he didn't, or more like he couldn't; his confidence he had diligently acquired over the long years told him to, and it was through this sacrifice, this one of a kind selfless act and leadership, that his pride was able to escape and his brother took leadership of the pride allowing his bloodline to continue to flourish and survive for generations on.

With one final bout of strength, he desperately rumbled his final roar as his life slowly seeped out of his body with his memories and experience living on in Levi.

The second set of memories our protagonist experienced, was a fearsome Bengal Tiger known throughout the forest for his undefeated record of 99-0.

This being was named 'Shere-Khan', he was well known throughout the forest, even to the extent of no other male tigers living within his 100km radius in pure terror of this behemoth of a tiger. Shere-Khans reputation was even well known among the 'human populace' who always brought about fear among the inhabitants of the vast forest.

Unknowingly to Khan, the humans slowly developed weapons that easily bested Khan's old foes, Khan moved forward with his daily routine before catching wind of the disappearance of his old foes.

He immediately thought of those troublesome humans and their weird contraptions and made up his mind to investigate.

With a thought in mind, determination and absolute confidence backing him, he trekked onwards towards the nearest human civilisation in search of his old enemy's where abouts.

When Khan arrived he quickly but silently took down multiple adult. Unluckily for Khan though, patience is a virtue which he did not have.

Deciding he had enough of sneaking around, he stood out open and gave a threatening roar towards the humans and lunged at them only to be quickly surrounded by numerous adult men, thrusting their sticks they had pierced Khan's hide and disabling his left leg, very quickly crippling his mobility.

With a resounding roar, Khan pounded on their eardrums and took out multiple adults whilst they were dazed. Unfortunately, Khan was quickly surrounded and entrapped with in a circle of humans holding their pointy sticks.

Putting up a good fight despite the numbers, khan took one last breath.

Back to Levi's body…

Near Levi's body a spatial distortion was growing in size and quickly consumed his body unbeknownst to his family and anyone else for that matter, as his existence was slowly wiped from their world.

[Authors note: changing from 3rd person perspective to 1st and I'm changing from past tense to present.]

Present...

Slowly waking up from my sleep, I looked around me and found myself in the middle of a savanna with no sign of my bedroom.

Managing to collect my nerves, I stand up only to realise that my eyesight is far better than I remember and that I don't have fingers but rather paws.

Slightly panicking I try to move, but I fall to the ground as I attempt to use these newly acquired limbs of mine.

Quickly realising my situation, as one of those transmigrations I've read so much about, except I'm not a human but a lion I believe.

Getting over my earlier frustration, I attempt to get accustomed to this new body of mine.

2 hours later...

Within these 2 hours, I've adapted to this unfamiliar body to the best of my abilities, and although I can't complete a menial task such as creating a fire or making clothes my newfound strength and speed all the more make up for it.

Night was falling fast, and I had little time to think about my options, before coming to the conclusion I'm not prepared to go hunting yet nor am hungry enough to be forced to, I wonder along the vast plains in search of somewhere to slumber for the night, although in a very awkward manner.

Making my way somewhere north I think, I spot a nice hidden flat patch of grass, relishing in my new surroundings I surrender my once human life and slowly but surely embrace my new life much smoother than I had thought it would be.

Chapter End:

This is my first attempt at a novel so I know there are some some bland parts within in this chapter as well as some obvious flaws in my writing please correct me where the grammar is incorrect.

I appreciate any and all criticism in my writing whether positive or negative but I won't respond to those who ask where the story's going and spoilers as I find many authors struggling with this among new novels.

If you have any ideas as to where this novel can progress please feel free to comment them so as to give me more things and ideas I can write upon.

Also as to answer why I'm not using 'authors thoughts' feature is because I know only a small minority reads it, as well as to make it to the 1000+ word mark. ;)
