Chapter 33 - Goodbyes (1)

"What did you two discuss about?" asked Ashe as soon as they got out of that half-destroyed house, if one could call it that.

Darius was a little surprised by that question since Ashe had never asked for any information from him, always respecting his privacy.

"Um, why do you want to know?" asked back Darius, as he at least wanted to know the reason.

"Well, I want to know if something happened between you and Yorick, he isn't the type to let others leave like that without taking anything from them. So, did he do anything to you?"

'Did he do anything to me? He literally just helped me,' thought Darius as he couldn't even begin to imagine what had happened between Ashe and Yorick.

Based on her earlier behaviour and her questions, it simply couldn't have been anything great, to say the least.

"Everything was fine, we only talked a little about my system," replied Darius, vaguely, clearly not wanting to say much about his system to her.

Ashe didn't like that vague response and decided that she wouldn't leave it alone this time.

"Are you telling the truth? He didn't try to do anything weird with you?"

"Anything weird, what do you mean?"

"You know... like touching you in some weird places and stuff like that," said Ashe, hesitating.

'Wait, don't tell me that she thinks that I had sex with a man,' thought Darius, insulted that Ashe would even think that he was attracted to men.

"Of course, he didn't touch in those places. Who do you think I am? I like girls. Am I clear, GIRLS, just like you," said Darius as he winked at the end, teasing her a little.

Ashe hearing that comment at the end had no choice but to blush under this compliment.

"J-just like me," she muttered, having difficulty speaking it seemed.

'Does he like me? But he never showed me any kind of attention,' she thought, as she started becoming redder and redder.

"Yeah, girls like you," said Darius once again, finding her whole reaction quite funny.

Based on her reaction, Darius could already tell that she had something for him.

Well, it was that or it was that she had never experienced any sort of compliments in her life, but it was probably the first option as Darius couldn't believe that such a beautiful girl had never been complimented before.

"Um, um, well thank you. You reassured me there, so what rank is your system," uttered Ashe, changing the subject instantly.

"He said that it would be B-Rank, he said that it's pretty much average," said Darius, realizing that maybe Ashe wasn't that much of a bigshot of an awakened.

However, it wasn't a big deal whether or not she was really strong, Darius would never have the help that she had given him when he reincarnated.

Even if he didn't show it physically or verbally, he still appreciated her help since it would have been really hard to learn about this completely new world alone.

"Well, he told you the truth, there are many B-Rank Systems. So, now that your problem has been fixed do you want to go to the academy right now?"

Darius being asked that question wasn't sure if he wanted to go to the academy right away as he had learned many interesting facts in his discussion with Yorick.

He had received his system from a Goddess named Lilia and he had a connection with her, Darius had to admit that he still believed it or rather he couldn't believe it.

Nonetheless, he had no other choice but to believe in what Yorick had said because he basically had no reason to lie and Darius had already noticed that he had a connection with that Goddess.

So, he simply couldn't deny it.

"Um, I guess we can do the test," replied Darius as he realized that it wouldn't change anything if he were to delay his arrival at the Royal Academy.

"But, just making sure, this is simply like a quick check-up, I won't need to stay there afterwards right?" asked Darius as he wondered whether or not his new life would be starting there.

"Well, that depends on you. You could return when the academy truly opens its doors, but I wouldn't recommend it. You should try to learn as much as you can about the academy before it starts," said Ashe.

Darius nodded hearing that as it seemed to be making a lot of sense, either way, he would need to go back there a day or two later. It simply wasn't worth it as he had pretty much visited the most important places in the Avalon Empire.

If he were to stay out of the Royal Academy, then who knew what he would do?

Have fun?

Even in his past life, he hadn't spent it having fun, so why would he even start now?

Especially in a world where strength determines your worth.

"I guess, I'll enter the academy after the test," said Darius as he looked behind and saw that Ashe seemed somewhat worried.

"Um, are you okay?" he asked, wondering why she was in such a bad mood.

"You don't understand, you'll finally live without me. You won't need my help anymore and I won't even be able to visit you inside the academy."

"What? You can't come and visit me?" asked Darius, not understanding why there was such a rule in the first place.

"No, it's some sort of rule to protect information or something like that. However, if you ever leave the academy for a mission or something like that. Come see me, alright?" she said as she muttered the biggest smile that she possibly could on her face.

"Of course, I will. Don't worry about that, I owe you that much."

'I did steal five years of Lifespan from you, I guess I can take some time to come see you after all,' thought Darius, as he started to feel bad about his past actions.

It was clear that she really cared about him, so it made him feel a little bad.
