Chapter 28 - Slums

"Well, personally, I don't know any," said Ashe.

"And do you know someone who might?" asked Darius as he really didn't want to reveal to the others that he was special.

The ideal situation for him would be to continue living this new life of his without people harassing him left and right.

That was something that he wanted to avoid more than anything if he were to be honest. He really didn't want to be at the center of attention, it just didn't correspond with him and his personality.

He liked to be hidden away from people, that's how he had always lived his life and didn't want that to change.

"I might, but I don't think we should go see him. He's kind of..., huh, weird," mentioned Ashe, hesitating on finding an adjective that corresponded with that person's personality.

Darius didn't even care about what she said as he had only listened to the start of her answer, simply happy that she might have a solution to his problem.

"Then, what are we waiting for, let's go see that person of yours," said Darius as he indicated to Ashe to show him the way.

"Argh, are you sure?" replied Ashe, as she didn't seem as enthusiastic as Darius.

"Yeah, let's go, I don't see a reason not to go."

Then, Ashe revealed an expression of discomfort.

'That's because you never met that person,' thought Ashe, already knowing that it wasn't going to be a fun time.

That person really had a thing with making one's head hurt and Ashe just didn't want to endure that. Still, she would try to because of Darius.

Darius and Ashe were in front of some weird-looking building, in fact, this building was in an even worse condition than the cabin which Ashe called home.

Unsurprisingly, it looked shabby as if almost falling down from the smallest impact. The roof which was made of wood seemed rotten as its colour was literally greenish.

Then, the walls of that house, were also in wood which seemed to be in somewhat of a better quality than the roof, because if they were in the same state then the entire would have already fallen down.

But, the thing was that this wasn't the only house which was almost down as all of the houses near it seemed to be in the same situation.

"Where are we?" asked Darius, as he remembered for quite a long time to reach this place.

It took at least, 45 minutes. The reason they walked was because they didn't want people to pay attention to them, and the other reason was that they didn't need to as they had the time.

"The Slums, doesn't it look great?" said Ashe in a sarcastic tone as she looked around, simply disgusted by the air in the atmosphere.

Everywhere they looked there was someone on the ground half-breathing.

"Can you believe that someone actually lives here by choice?" muttered Ashe, looking at Darius's shocked face.

Darius simply couldn't believe such a thing as it made literally force those living conditions onto anyone, they were simply too bad.

"Are you telling the truth? Is there really someone who did such a thing?"

"Why are you talking in the past, that person is still and he's the one we need to meet to hide information about your system," replied Ashe, already anticipating the pain in her head.

Darius was once again shocked by that information. He knew that they had been toward the Slums, but he ignored the fact that the person who was going to him was in this place.

Darius didn't think that it would be possible just looking at the state of the Slums, he thought that everyone here was pretty much a hopeless case, living day by day, barely scraping by.

Well, for most, it was like that, but there were some exceptions here and there.

"Um, oh right, sorry. So, where is he? Where's his house?" muttered Darius as he didn't think that he was the one living in that shabby house in front of him.

However, when he noticed that Ashe hadn't answered him yet and was simply moving toward the door of that building, he couldn't help but curse in his head.

'There's no way, that someone living here would be able to do anything,' he thought, losing all hopes of living a discreet life.

He knew that he was done for, everyone would know that he was special. Well, in the case, of Aiden really being a Supreme.

Then. Ashe approached her hand and she started knocking on the half-destroyed door.

'Well, at least, it didn't fall down,' thought Darius, pessimistic about this whole thing.

He was no longer hopeful, but maybe that would change when meeting the guy that Ashe had talked about earlier.

Darius knew that Ashe wouldn't bring him to some random place, there had to be a reason why she would bring him here.

*Knock*

*Knock*

*Knock*

"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming, I'm coming," said a half-awoke voice on the other side of the door.

'Yeah, there's no way that he can help me,' thought Darius, judging the person only by the tone in his voice.

"Just stay calm and don't mention anything about his physique," whispered Ashe to Darius ear's.

She wanted to make things progress as well as she possibly could which was why she said that.

'Huh, why? What's wrong with his physique?' thought Darius, as the door in front of him still hadn't opened.

Then, one moment later, it was swung open.

"Oh, Ashe good to see you again. Oh and who might you be?" muttered the man, looking with interest at Darius.

Ashe cut his opening short as she simply barged into his house without even asking for permission.

"Let's go sit down, I'll explain everything," said Ashe as she continued to walk in the direction of what seemed to be a table.

However, Darius wasn't even sure that it really was a table.
