2 The heart wrenching lightning on a clear night

After talking for a while, they got freshened up and lit up a campfire beside the lake near the trees. The night breeze was cool and the sky was clear revealing the beautiful full moon surrounded by the stars. All the five of them were enjoying their time in front of the camp fire. Joel also entertained them by dancing and Evana joined her brother. It was going smoothly and everything was peaceful and calm and the entire air was filled with the sounds of laughter.

While they were in the midst of their conversation, Andy received an important phone call and hurried off towards the woods to attend it. The other four then continued their conversation when they suddenly heard a sound from inside the cottage. The four of them immediately shifted the gaze towards the cottage upon hearing it. They were a little confused because of the noise they heard as they saw Andy walking towards the trees and not inside the cottage. So how could there possibly be another person? Then they just assumed it to be a cat and then continued with their conversation. Just as they were about to ignore it, they suddenly heard footsteps from inside the cottage. The four of them abruptly stood up as they became alert and slowly walked towards the cottage. Just as they moved a few metres away from the camp fire, the fire suddenly went out leaving no source of light except the moon and the twinkling stars. The four then turned around and looked at the camp fire which was suddenly out.

Jason then told Kendra to be with Evana and Joel and then went inside the cottage. Evana and Joel did not understand what was happening as they panicked a little. Then suddenly they heard a loud crash from inside the cottage. The trio immediately rushed into the cottage. The cottage was pitch black. Kendra and Evana had left their phones inside their rooms but Joel had his inside his pocket. He took out his phone from his pocket and upon switching on the screen, he frowned because he just had three percent left and forgot to charge it after coming. Evana asked Joel to switch on the torch and he immediately did it. The living room was now visible and also everything was placed just as it was. Kendra then went to the switch board to switch on the lights but the lights were not working. Evana then called out in an alarmed voice " Dad?.." but she did not get any reply. She then asked again "Dad where are you?" when suddenly she heard a yell from inside hers and Joel's room.The trio dashed inside the room. When they entered the room the first thing what they saw was that a masked man dressed in black, was lying on the floor who seemed to be knocked out and Jason was beside him with one leg on the man's chest.

While Evana and Joel were trying to process what they just saw, their mother Kendra suddenly dashed forward, went behind Jason pushed him away and caught the hand of another masked man,kicked him in his stomach and suddenly grabbed his neck and turned his it to the other side with a single move and killed him as if she just killed a mosquito. Just then five more masked men came forward. Then one of them came suddenly advanced at Jason and Kendra carrying something that emitted black smoke and was about to place his punch on Jason when the torch from the phone went off the charge was out. Then Evana sensed someone fall with a thud beside her. She panicked but also did not want to think about the worst possibility. Then suddenly she felt someone clutch her hand and let out a shriek. "Sis it's me." Joel whispered silently. Evana was slightly relieved and gripped Joel's hand even more tightly. But she didn't know what happened to her dad and mom. If both Jason and Kendra were knocked out then she shouldn't make a sound because they can kill her and her brother by heading towards the direction of the sound but if Jason and Kendra managed to escape it then they will be safe. Evana tried to stick on to the latter possibility as she had just seen her mother and father kill two people. She slowly gathered her courage and slowly called out "Mom... dad...?" as soon as as she called out, she suddenly felt someone grab her hand and drag her and just as quick as that hand hand grabbed her it was kicked away forcefully by someone. Evana was scared out of her wits and stumbled back towards Joel. She did not know what was happening around and could not see a thing because it was pitch black and because of this sudden attack on her, she was breathing heavily with fear.

Just then there was a faint golden glow from inside the room and then it became brighter and brighter. Evana and Joel raised their heads and looked at the source but what they saw left them in total shock. The golden light was coming from within Jason and Kendra's bodies! And in front of them were now four masked men who were actually glowing black! Evana and Joel stood rooted to the spot with total shock. After that the four masked men attacked Jason and Kendra at the same time. Just when the four of them were about to hit Jason and Kendra, both of them dodged and caught hold of two men's legs and twisted it like turning a bottle cap and then crushed their necks beneath their legs. The other two men were a little hesitant but then again charged at the same time but not towards Jason and Kendra, but headed straight for Evana and Joel. Both Evana and Joel were in utter shock and they were not able to process what was happening yet. When Jason and Kendra noticed the two men head towards their kids, they both sent a stroke of golden light towards them and in an instant both the masked men turned into ashes.

Kendra and Jason slowly turned towards Evana and Joel and approached them. Evana and Joel still were not able to come out of the shock that they had just witnessed. Kendra slowly knelt in front of Evana and Joel who were sitting like statues on the floor and smiled at her before explaining her everything. " Evana and Joel it's time that we tell you guys the truth. We actually are people who do not belong to this world. We are from a magical world. We are the ones who are trained to protect our world and the human world from disasters. This time we were sent to the human world with a big mission and the mission was to-" But just before she could finish her words she felt that her shoulders were drenched with something and when she turned around she found out that it was blood- Jason's blood! And the man who cut off Jason's neck was none other than..Andy!

Kendra couldn't believe what she just saw. Jason and Kendra had trusted Andy so much but he had just stabbed them in the back! And just behind Andy were a few more masked men. Kendra stared at Andy with disbelief. After Andy had cut off Jason's neck he let go of him and Jason fell on the floor. Jason then looked at his kids and his wife and with the last bit of energy he had, smiled at them and breathed his last breath. Kendra cried " NO!" but it was too late. She then rushed over to Jason and cried out loud. Andy slowly went towards Jason and knelt beside him opposite to Kendra. He then looked at Kendra with tearful eyes and said " Sorry Kendra but I had to this. I will never forgive myself for this." Then he took out his sword and stabbed Kendra in her waist. Kendra cried in pain. The pain was unbearable and the knife was poisoned too! Then Andy looked at the dead body of Jason before bringing the knife to his neck and slicing off his own throat and fell dead beside Jason. Kendra lay on the floor dying and looked at Evana and Joel and guestured them to come to her. Evana just snapped out from her shock and then rushed over to her mother followed by Joel. She dashed to her and held onto her mother " Mom please no..." Kendra looked at Evana and Joel and uttered four words " Don't die.....avenge us" before falling dead on Evana's lap. Evana shook her mother hard and cried out loudly. She then looked at her father's and Andy's dead bodies and then turned around towards the masked men who now had Joel with a knife pointed at his throat ready to kill him.

Anger and pure hatred was shown in her once happy face and her sky blue eyes were slowing turning red in anger. She then clutched onto her skirt and led out a ear piercing shout. She felt very dizzy and just as she was about to faint the last thing that she noticed was that all the masked men lay dead on the ground and Joel looked at her with widened eyes before everything blanked out.
