10 The Densest Person Of All (2)

Parker exclaimed, "Finally, you're back! There's a new batch of books just came in."

"R-Really!? I'm sorry Parker." Asher apologized.

"No worries, now go! Mercer's already there!"

"Wait, Mercer? What's he doing here?"

"Mom said I should go out more!" Mercer shouted from afar.

"Okay, I should help him." Asher leaves.

Parker looks at Esther who was daydreaming, she snapped her fingers at Esther's face.

She said to her, "Hey Esther? Modern era to Esther! Hey, Esther are you there?"

"What? What?"

"Did the plan work?"

"Plan?"

"You know, see if he's dense and all?"

"No, I failed. He keeps talking about work too."

"Darn it. Oh well... At least we tried."

But Esther thought, "I never made an attempt, but I can tell that he's either too busy or too dense, and I want him to stay that way. I have a plan in cases like these although this is the first time."

Then they heard the noise of falling books.

"Mercer! Are you alright?" Asher asks.

"Y-Yeah I'm... Alright, it's just books..." Mercer said in a sarcastic and painful tone.

Parker goes to check the noise and asked them, "Hey guys, are you alright?"

Asher replied, "Me yeah, but Mercer... Not so much."

"You think!?" Mercer said.

Later on, they saw Heather beating up an entire motorcycle gang singlehandedly.

Parker said to Mercer, "Your sister is straight-up savage."

"Tell me about it," Mercer replied.

Heather continuously punching all of the gangsters' faces until she's the only one who stood on top. She laughed proudly but didn't know that one of the gangsters is still moving, he picked up the wrench and tried to knock her out. Luckily Esther noticed, and throws a book at the gangster.

"Nice move. I could've been one of the hospital patients like these guys if it weren't for you." Heather complimented her.

Esther replies, "You're not bad yourself, just make sure that all the boys are under your foot."

"Ha! Just like grandma always said! So, is he dense?"

"Who's dense?" Asher asked.

"You two better make sure those people get their books checked out!" Heather points to many people inside the library.

Mercer sighs as they leave, "Fine, let's go, Asher."

"We don't know, every time we make an attempt, he always says work work work," Parker said in exhaustion.

Esther adds, "And it got is confused."

"I see." Heather said, "So I guess we'll never know if he's really dense or not. Maybe it'll show by this school year."

"But you know... It's fine if he is dense, he doesn't have to know everything about love. And if he does who knows, he might use that knowledge to cheat." Esther told them.

Heather replies, "I guess you're right about that."

Parker adds, "Yeah although, the way you say it sounds like you're---"

"I'm helping you and Asher to be together, and that he won't cheat on you for being such a big baby." Esther interrupted her.

"What!? I do not! And I am not a big! Baby!" Parker exclaimed.

Heather giggled, "Are you really that desperate Parker?"

"No! It's not me! We're not that even close!"

"Really? Are you sure?"

"Absolutely!"

"Oh come on, I can help you with dating tips."

"No! No! And no!"

By the time the library was empty, they had a little talk. Suddenly, they heard a sound outside, Heather looks outside the window and she saw a dozen thugs with spraying cans, eggs, shredders, and matches.

"Guys, we got some pranksters out front," Heather told them.

Asher said, "They're going to vandalize the library, we should stop them."

"I have an idea, but it includes a team effort," Esther said.

Meanwhile, the thugs were preparing to turn the library into ruins.

"I can't believe Jennifer paid us to do an easy job."

"Messing up the book place? Totally easy."

"But... Why a library?"

"Who cares? As long as we get paid, we do what they exactly want us to do."

"And that's taking out the trash can itself."

They laughed wickedly until they heard something from the library.

"Who did that?"

"I didn't do anything."

"Did what?"

Then they heard a noise again.

"Did you plant the trap already?"

"I didn't even go inside yet."

"Well someone's making a noise."

The lights of the library turned off, much to their surprise.

"Who turned off the lights!?"

"Shut up! Someone might hear us!"

The thugs were starting to shake when they heard a voice, "Get lost."

"What was that?"

"You said something?"

"No. I thought it was you."

"Shut up! No one talks you got that!?"

Then they heard the voice again, "Get lost."

"I SAID NO ONE--"

And again, "Get lost..."

"Dude, no one said anything."

They heard a whistle from the library rooftop, it was a mysterious figure dressed in a black cloak with a demon mask. It suddenly jumped off the rooftop to the ground, bending its neck and said to them, "Get lost..."

Then all of the thugs only said one word, "Run."

As they flee from it, who was actually Esther.

"I wasn't even staring, and they just ran. What a bunch of cowards." She told to herself.

Parker was worried, "Geez you don't have to jump from the roof! What are you made of?"

"That was awesome! No bones broken?" Mercer asked.

"It was just one floor," Esther said to them.

"Got to admit, that was bold." Heather complimented.

Asher asked, "What part of your plan was actually team effort?"

"The part where you all cheer for me." She replied.

"Do your feet hurt?"

"A bit."

"I knew it!" Parker exclaimed.

"Come on I'll carry you." Asher turns around, kneels down, and offers her his back.

"Fine." She hops on to his back and carried her inside the library.

Mercer told them, "Hey Asher, we'll leave ya behind catch you later."

"Yeah sure." He replied.

When they went inside the library, Esther ordered, "Hey Asher, massage my feet. It's killing me from that fall earlier."

"You're finally being honest."

"I was honest earlier, it was only half the truth"

"And it was also half a lie."

"Doesn't matter, she won't rub it in if she didn't hear it."

He puts her on a chair and removed her shoes.

"The way you're doing it looks indecent," Esther commented.

"I'm just taking off your shoes."

"I know."

"Where does it hurt?"

"My ankle."

"Left or right?"

"Both."

"Just tell me if you want to stop."

He starts massaging her ankles but Esther starts to breathe heavily.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"I'm fine. Keep going."

Asher continues to massage her legs when suddenly she starts to shout in pain.

"K-Keep going..." She told him.

Esther resisted the pain from her legs as Asher massages her.

Parker came back to check if Asher and Esther are still here, she heard a noise that became very suspicious until she saw Esther on a chair shouting in pain.

"Asher... Down there... No, right there..." She said.

Parker was astonished at what was happening in front of her, so she quietly left without saying a word. Her reaction didn't change until she went back home.

After Asher massaged her legs, he put back her shoes and took her hand to see if she can stand.

"Do you feel any better?" He asked.

"Yeah, that was a very weird feeling."

"We should close the library."

"You're right before any people might get the wrong idea."

"We'll deal with them tomorrow if they did."

After they went home, Esther thought, "I hope no one will get the wrong idea."

"Who will get the wrong idea miss?" The maid enters her room.

"I didn't know you had psychic powers just to eavesdrop my own thoughts."

"It was just a hunch miss."

"I'm starting to wonder that myself."

As she sleeps, she began dreaming. She appeared in the glade where she was lying on Asher's lap while hearing his voice.

"That every night I'll kiss you, you'll say in my ear.

Oh, we're in love, aren't we?

Hands in your hair, fingers, and thumbs, baby.

I feel safe when you're holding me near.

Love the way that you conquer your fear.

You know hearts don't break around here.

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah."

"I never knew that you could sing." She said.

"You said that I'll sing it to you." He replied.

"What? When?"

"Soon enough... Someday."

"I never heard of that song."

"You'll find out soon enough but for now, you need to teach me all I know on how to write a story. I need more practice."

"You mean a lot of practice."

"I love you... Esther Violette." He whispered.

"What?" She woke up and tried to remember what was she dreaming but she told herself, "It was just a dream... That wasn't real."

"What wasn't real miss?" The maid suddenly entered her room.

"How long have you been there?"

"I knew that you were waking up, so I came as fast as I could."

"Since when did we have motion sensor devices in this household?"
