24 Chaos In The City

Hu Wenxi spent several moments trying to regain his bearing. The light unleashed by the fiendish ghost had blinded him in all aspects both physically and spiritually. The sinful Qi permeated his soul and meridians. It felt as if a filter of haze had been placed around him. Once he got his footing back he immediately scanned the entire Thousand Flames upper realm.

The unique aura produced by necroplasm was very difficult to detect without being an expert on necromancy. As such under normal circumstances Hu Wenxi would've experienced great difficulty in finding the fiend even if he was extra thorough.

This however was completely different. Fiends are a natural part of the universe. They represent an aspect of existence that indulge in senseless excess of highly destructive actions. An evil person may slaughter people indiscriminately however a fiend will eat their babies in front of them while raping them and torturing them at the sam time.

A satanic cultivator may use techniques similar to fiends and may sacrifice virgins and infants to bolster their cultivation however a fiend will do so senselessly without purpose because it is fun. In short a fiend is quite simply a being of pure vile intent given form. They do not have a specific cultivation path and simply exist as beings of varying power.

The original fiends were created as a side affect of the constant war of the 3 great powers in the immemorial era. The battle of supremacy between the dragons, vermilion birds, and kirins brought untold destruction upon the young world. This in turn created the fiends from all the pain and suffering experienced by the denizens of the ten thousand races caught in the cross fire.

The ancient fiend Nian arose from the cesspool of negative energy and suppressed all 3 great ancestors of the great powers. It wasn't until the sacrifice of the Dao progenitor that this beast was sealed away. However the damage was done.

The concept of fiends were imprinted in the hearts of all beings and in ages since they will be the causes for many conflicts. All cultivators from Immortals, Gods, Buddhas, Mages, Ghosts, Demons and even satanic/evil cultivators hated the fiends.

These beings indulge in excessive sin, they only bring destruction and nothing else. Their existence are a blight on all living and un-living beings. This is why Hu Wenxi no longer held anything back when confronted with the fiendish ghost.

A fiends birth can be triggered in two ways. They can be a newly birthed organism or a previously established being who went off the rails. Sam was the latter option, he was originally already a monstrous character with many ill actions witnessed by the heavens. His transformation into a ghost and its subsequent fight within its own head wore away at Sam's sanity.

The final nail in the coffin was Sam complete defeats at the hands of Hu Wenxi. All the hatred, lust, self pity, and delusions coupled with Sam's insanity caused his rebirth as a fiend from a ghost. Hu Wenxi is in a way at fault for creating this threat, as such he was desperately searching to kill it.

Luckily for him, once revealed fiends discharge a vast amount of sinful desires. This manifests as ominous aura that permeates the fiend. All beings wether living or dead can sense this somewhat, the stronger the fiend the more easier they could sense it. This aura has the ability to create lesser fiends and even corrupt weak minded individuals.

Hu Wenxi scanned for a few moments before locking on the fiends location. He was horrified but not surprised at the result. The fiend was currently located in his own capital city. He immediately took off, at his speed he could reach his destination in a few seconds, however for beings at his level even 1 second is a very long amount of time during fights.

As he flew Hu Wenxi could see a storm of dark red clouds above the Thousand Flames upper realm. At the same time he could as see lines of sandy lines with blurred images of 12 mighty beasts. The Zodiac format had activated.

With the fiend's arrival at the capital the top experts immediately retaliated. Old grudges and personal gain did not matter as this was the ultimate enemy to all things. The fiend was massive easily distinguishable. It was at least a kilometre tall from head to tail with arms reaching several hundred metres long.

"AIE" it roared and ominous winds followed. Weaker cultivators gripped their heads and screamed in pain. Some even began attacking people nearby,

PAH! "What are you doing?" "I thought you loved me!" "AAAAHHHHH!" "Scream, scream time for you to die!"

The civilians were in chaos, they were driven mad one by one and began rioting in chaos. Friends bit and tore at each other, mothers attacked their sons, lovers strangling each other and not in a sexy way.

Even the Human Immortals could feel this insanity edging away at their psyche. Long Chi Bai opened his mouth and roared, the experts around him could feel the affects of the dark aura leaving. The cry of a dragon possessed magical properties, Long Chi Bai was able to steady the hearts of his contemporaries. Qiang Wang and taoist Infinity Heaven attacked together in an effort to drive the ghost away. Vast emerald tornados and bright beams struck the fiend who was pushed back.

"That fun" the fiend shot out from the emptiness of its eyes, black pillars of sinful light. Both experts dodged and counter attacked again. Their attacks were not as strong as Hu Wenxis hence could not damage the fiend.

"AIE" the fiend slashed down at Qiang Wang causing his body to bleed. This sent him crashing into the rooftops below. "FATHER!" Qiang Mei Hua drew her thin rapier from space and stabbed at the fiend. The blade penetrated the black abyss with radiant light. Seeing this the old dragon Long Chi Bai called out, "Wait you majesty".

Qiang Mei Hua was strong but the fiend was stronger, her light began fading and dark light seeped into her blade. "You majesty" taoist infinity heaven and 2 others charged in to attack. The fiend with its small arm grabbed the empress and with its lager arm slapped taoist Infinity Heaven's group away. Long Chi Bai suddenly came rocketing in for a palm strike, the fiend met it with a claw of its own and the force pushed the dragon away.

Another Human Immortal as well as a large bear Demon Ascendent activated their spells. A hail of crimson spears and demon claws struck the fiend who blocked with its larger arms. "AIE" the fiend slashed out at the two however the bear jumped in front and curled in on itself.

Its fur glistened in steel light blocking the claw which bounced off. "AIE" the feed was not deterred and created black blades of its own. It shot them at its opponents. Taoist Infinity Heaven and Qiang Wang had recovered and along with 6 others released their own spells at the fiend. Long Chi Bai had also sent out a dragon shaped blast.

Above the skies both sides were clashing fiercely. Only 13 of the 18 Human Immortals were here today, this also included Demon Ascendents who were on par with Human Immortals. Even then the fiend held the upper hand still. Its power had already reached the summit of all Human Immortals, it could even challenge weak True Immortals.

"GRRR" Qiang Mei Hua snuggled in the fiend's grip. The monster was strong hence the empress exerted much strength. A bright light of creation illuminated the palm of the field. "AH?" The fiend looked down only tore blinded.

"AIE" it screamed in pain as its palm was destroyed by the empress. "Father lets do this" Qiang Mei Hua stabbed out at the monster while Qiang Wang drew an axe and also attacked. The rest of the experts did not hold back and also attacked with their weapons.

"AIE" The fiend was pushed back slightly but it held strong. "AIE, this is so cool" it raised two large skeletal arms and brought them down, lines of space was cracked and shockwaves traveled in ten directions across the city. Taoist Infinity Heaven immediately went to block the waves however he was struck hard.

"AH" taoist Infinity Heaven was severely injured bleeding across his body. "YAY, the pedophile is down" the fiend danced happily in the air and clapped its hands. Qian Mei Hua felt an ominous feeling.

The fiend's sharp tail was flung into the air and brought down onto the street scapes. Instantly a massive tsunami of debris was sent into the air. As if overturning the earth itself, the city was riddled with untold destruction. Even Qiang Wang and the bear suffered previous injuries.

Qiang Mei Hua brought out a shield which managed to protect her but her contemporaries were not so lucky. The fiend had grasped onto an old man in red robes and crushed him to paste. It had also stabbed another expert with its tail. Just like that two Human Immortals were dead.

The tsunami kept traveling towards the imperial palace at the centre. At this point around ⅜ of the city was rubble along with tens of thousands of casualties. "NO" Qiang Mei Hua was desperate to stop the damage however she was forced to defend herself. She tried to slash at the fiend however it grabbed onto her rapier and started crushing it. Cracks appeared on the metal.

Just then the two high level experts doctor Nan and Chu acted. Previously they stayed behind to protect the people. Doctor Chu's abilities as a ghost granted him many benefits and he immediately placed every affected by the fiend's aura into a coma. Doctor Nan also shielded as many civilians as he could as he specialised in precise movement and defensive techniques.

These two doctors were a pinnacle Human Immortal and a pinnacle Karmic Lord. For them it was easy to save the people while everyone else fought. However seeing as the situation had gone dire, they entrusted Hu Wei with defence and entered the fray themselves. Of the two doctor Chu was much stronger as doctor Nan was a more support fighter.

Doctor Nan was not that strong in a direct 1v1 confrontation. In the past doctor Chu was a terrifying ghost powerhouse. He was a shamed medical practitioner in his previous life who held aspirations to be a cultivator. However he had no talent and was forced to become a doctor instead.

Doctor Chu was a famed figure many centuries ago however he was eventually lambasted for failing to find a cure to a plague. The people needed something to blame hence doctor Chu was punished with execution. His regret, anger, and grudges allowed him to return as a ghost. If Hu Wenxi had not brought him to heel he might've even became a fiend one day.

Doctor Chu shed his human form and took to the skies as a long ethereal skeletal snake with a human skull. He had seaweed like hair as well as two translucent blade arms that resembled scalpels.

Doctor Chu attacked the fiend with powerful slashes while doctor Nan rushed into the city to rescue the people. Occasionally doctor Nan will harass the fiend with light jabs. Qiang Mei Hua was released and retreated to provide ranged support.

Seeing the odds evening out Long Chi Bai released his true form. The titanic white dragon clawed at the fiend with all his might. "AIE" the fiend had its arm torn off by Chu's blades. Long Chi Bai's strikes also heavily injured it.

The fiend transformed into a cloud of black smoke and escaped the two's attacks, it reformed above the imperial palace. Qiang Mei Hua looked up at as the fiend blasted her away. Luckily Long Chi Bai caught her in his claw.

"Nakama, Nakama, Nakama, Nakama!" The fiend paraded like a madman. Below it disturbing things began happening. Yun Xiao Che turned to see the people from the Azure Sky continent began distorting. The fiend had unleashed small smokes that enveloped them. These poor people began transforming into shadowy monsters that began attacking the city.

"Yay, Sam has Nakama again. Nakama help Sam" the fiend seemed even more invigorated, it pooled back its head and head butted Long Chi Bai's dragon skull. "ROAR" the white dragon was thrown back in the impact right into doctor Chu's ghost form. The two were sent tumbling back.

"Empress play too" the fiend grabbed at Qian Mei Hua who gritted her teeth. Under the pressure of the fiend her rapier shattered to pieces. She had no choice but to call upon her husband's ultimate weapon. Above the skies sandy light converged and struck the fiend's hands.

"AIE" the fiend was pushed back by the sandy light. This light radiated around Qian Mei Hua and reinvigorated her. Long Chi Bai, doctor Chu, Qiang Wang had all gotten up.

"AIE" the fiend seemed to smile. Around it an army of black beasts flew into the air. "Lets play some more. Hero Sam to the rescue".
