1 Chapter 1. South Central Moving Day

It all started in Pomona. CA, 2006, the year my family decided to move to Los Angeles. I don't really remember much of moving day since I was only 6 years old at the time, I only know to what my parents had told me. But before I begin Hi my name is Anette Mendoza I am a Mexican Italian American, now turning 20 soon I was born in June 30th the year of 2000 and this is my story. On how my life all changed when we moved to South Central.

I used to live in Pomona before my parents decided to move to L.A I have a few great memories there with my moms, mom Leticia Lopez my grandma she was the most absolutely sweetest, amazing person you could ever met. She was the light in my moms life but like all good things.... everything must come to an end. My grandma had passed away in September 25th, the year 2005 she had passed away due to Cancer my mom at the time was in her early 20s between 21 or 22.

My grandma passing away is what made us move to L.A since my grandma was the only reason why my mom stayed in Pomona because my grandma used to Live in Chino which wasn't far from where we used to live. We moved a year after my grandma passed away. The day we moved was on a Saturday afternoon and it was a long ride because of traffic and believe me L.A traffic is horrible well sometimes depending.

I didn't really know what to expect once we were on our way but I was kinda excited. Even though we were going to live with my other grandparents my dads parents Ciro & Irma Mendoza. Once we got off the freeway I remember seeing the big buildings we were right next to including on how it was really crowded nothing but the streets surrounded by people. Well it makes sense Downtown L.A is always packed, but where I used to live it was all different.
