35 A TASTE OF IT ALL

The dog (American Pit Bull Terrier), suddenly jumped into the water and struck a rock. Water streamed from its flank, blood bubbled from a slash on its shoulder, but it was alive, the animal went for her face with a flash of fangs, white and deadly.

Screaming, Wong Kar Mun felt the dog batten down, waited in slow - motion dread for the jaws to grind and for her bones to break, or maybe it will go for her throat next, or even push her under the water, hold her there until she drowned.

The dog gripped her arm, looking for a way to attack, without knowing it helped her in getting rid of the rock she was stuck on.She saw it as an opportunity to pull herself up and began to move up and away from the dog and out of the river.

Wong Kar Mun broke from her paralysis. There was blood in her mouth, her head clanged in pain, her left arm dead.

"Call me The Death Man."

Suddenly The Death Man appeared, a small dog ran out, Wong Kar Mun watched in horror as he hooked a hand on either jaw, and tore its jaw apart.

A cold fist of horror where her heart had been, as the man bent over the dazed, bleeding animal, and then wrapped up the dog in a tight hug, literally clasped the dog to his chest and squeezed.

There came a popping, splintering sounds as the dog's ribs broke. Huge bubbles of crimson blood boiled from the dog's mouth.

The Death Man laughed hysterically. The sound was just the same as the character Joker and drove spiders scurrying up and down her back. Still laughing, he reached into the dog's mouth and tore out the animal's tongue.

She stood up with heavy sands bagged on her hand and suddenly blinded his vision with it, before he was through trying to regain sight, she was gone.

Approaching a farm house, her heart escaped out of her ribcage as big black birds wheeled.

The house was dark, the sight set off a fluttery feeling in her chest, and then she got a noseful of rot, vultures quarrelled over the bodies of a pig.

Her thighs were starting to burn, and her head ached.

Her eyes snaggered on something protruding on a stick about ten feet ahead.

When she got closer she saw this something was the remains of a sleeve and the stick was a bone.

She went absolutely still. Her mind blanked. She froze in mid - step, and for a second, she could only stare, waiting for the white grip of stunned horror squeezing her brain to let go.

And maybe one of several, because now her numbed brain registered more colour in the trees to her left, and then farther on to her right again. Each area were marked by wolf carcasses.

Ahead she saw a neat pyramid, she couldn't see it well until she got closer, and behold, they were heads.

The eyes, noses and ears were gone, and the tongues and half - eaten lips clotted with frozen gore.

"Motherfucker." She blurted, referring to The Death Man.

But then, she recognized a face.

Her breath died in her chest. She went completely and utterly still.

Tears welling up in her eyes.

"Prince..." She said, shivering, a bloom of black horror squeezing her lungs and choking off her breath.

She saw Erika's face too and cried. "Erika am sorry we had to leave you back there, now you're dead."

Suddenly the skull broke out into a being and attempted to grab Wong Kar Mun's hair but she resisted.

"You have to join me."

"No... No..." Wong Kar Mun screamed. Her head swirled with panic and pain. Both nearly killed her. As it was, she only just felt the attack coming, before she knew what was happening, she felt a sudden rush of air.

She snatched her head back just in time to catch a blur of white and black.

Wong Kar Mun feared Erika's teeth, her teeth could tear a person's throat out.

Wong Kar Mun plunged across the ground, her left shoulder still singing, her heart banging a wild, frenzied beat.

Erika swept forward with one leg, hooking Wong Kar Mun's ankles, sending her crashing against the pyramid.

Pain rocketed up her spine. Wong Kar Mun suddenly realized that Erika was now with a rifle, she aimed at it on her neck but gravity was on her side as she moved away.

Wong Kar Mun's arm began to shudder as her overstrained muscles weakened.

All at once, Wong Kar Mun's elbow gave up, she had nothing left.

With the last strength in her, Wong Kar Mun dived at her and sank her teeth into Erika's left cheek.

Wong Kar Mun felt the sudden give as Erika's skin tore, and then she was into muscles, leaving Erika on the ground in pain that she could hardly move.

Wong Kar Mun was suddenly dragged by another dead being, a male figure that held her down.

Her eyes flickered to the others.

They were all standing there, mouths open, ready to devour her.

A scream bubbled in her throat, and she felt her breath coming faster and faster.
