10 Chapter 9 - Exploring Elvania...

After teleporting to the edge of the forest, I start to walk up the path to Elvania's gate. As I got closer, I felt something on my body, as if I was walking into a bubble. I couldn't see anything but magic particles (I learn what the particules were called via a book) in the air. I guess I imagined it...

I walked until I was at the gate of the town. There seem to be no guards outside patrolling, but I do sense some above on the wall. Maybe I should knock or say something? Before I could make up my mind, someone shouted at me.

"Halt stranger! Please state your business and explain how to found this place. Answer immediately!"

The voice is a bit imitating, but I answer confidently. "My name is Imai Akuma, and I have come to visit your town. I have seen others enter and leave this place, so I thought I could as well."

"Hmm... Okay, I have a question. Are you a special breed of elf?"

Huh? That's a bit of a weird question. "Um... No, I'm a human."

I could hear the other side gasp after I told them that I was human. Well, I still think I'm human.

The voice stopped talking. I could hear lots of movement from the other side and sense a group of men moving into formation. Then, after a minute passed, the gate swings open, revealing five guards in a two-line formation. The guard in the front, who was leading the formation, starts talking. Base on his voice, he was the person who was talking with me through the wall...

"Lies! A measly human can't enter into our lands. I mean, the barrier is still up and running! Who are you..."

He stops talking midway through a sentence. Not only is he staring at me, but the others are too. They all look at me with a surprised look on their face. I could see some color drain from the leading man's face.

"S-sorry! Please excuse us, Sir! We w-will bring someone to be your guide."

Then, four of the men left, leaving one to look at me. The leftover stared at me with a scared look on his face. I tried to converse with him, but every time I start to speak, he'll bow down and apologized or say, 'Please don't kill me!'.

After a bit of time, the guards return with a familiar face.

"Oh, hey, Ken! How have you been doing?"

"H-hello, Sir! I have been doing good. Now, I heard that you came to visit our little town. How about I give you a tour?"

"Sure, that sounds good."

I smile at Ken. All I wanted to do is visit the town since I was bored, so doing anything is fine with me.

"Oh, but before we go, I don't think I ever gave you my name. My name is Imai Akuma."

He nods and smiles at me. I bowed to the guards and followed Ken, who leads the way into the city.

Once we passed through the gate, I was encountered with a variety of sents and a large number of citizens walking around the town. The majority of people ignored me; however, every person we passed, that person would give us a weird look. Some were even scared, but I ignored most of them.

After walking a bit, Ken stops in front of a massive tree building. He turns to face me and begins to talk like a tour guide. "This is the council's tree. In our town, all decisions are from and voted by the council. There is a sub-council, but they work in a different building. Would you like to go inside?"

Hmm... It's intriguing, but I don't want to meet some high authorities yet. "I'll be good for now. Maybe some other time."

He nods and starts to walk while I follow. He stops at more places, showing me places to eat, sleep, play, and the military base. Then, he takes me far off of the town, directly on the opposite of the gate I came into. After a minute of walking, a vast red-brick building starts to appear.

Ken stops in front of the building and starts to introduce the building.

"This is the Elvania's School of Magic or the E-SOM. This school is open for all types of race, which is why it is not in Elvania directly. The school is the best school in the world to learn and master magic. They teach other things, but it's mostly a magic school.

"The age limit for the school is about 100 years of age for elves, which is equivalent to 20 years for humans. Classes are not judge based on the student age, either. Each class is divided up in letters, S-E. Those in S have incredible power than those in E.

"Typically, those who graduates join the Elvania's military. That's what I did. I graduated from this school and immediately got accepted into the military; however, only elves are allowed to do this... Any questions such far?"

This school sounds very interesting. I would love to attend such a school, though I doubt they would let me in.

"Uh, yes. How does Elvania stay hidden if they school over here?"

"Ah, a good question. Elves are known for they're barrier magic. A barrier is placed around the town. So when a non-elf looks at the town, they only see what is on the other side of the town. If they try to step through, they would be teleported to the other side, but it would be so seamless that you wouldn't notice anything strange."

"I see..."

That magic seems very useful and exciting. I wouldn't mind learning that type of magic, but I'll save that for another time. After this talk, he walked me back to the entrance of the town.

"That's it for the tour, So... How did you like the town?"

"It seems very interesting. I would love to come and visit again."

I smile at Ken, but then I tune my voice into serious mode.

"But I do have one question or rather a favor... Could I join that magic school?"

...

"Huh?!"
