22 Chapter 21 - The Physical Exam...

"Tomo... left the school about a month after you stopped showing up."

"Huh?! Was there a reason?"

"She didn't tell us..."

The principle continues to sweat, almost like she isn't telling me everything. Ignore this fact, however, being more concerned about Tomo. 'I hope she's okay...'

"Okay. That's a little disheartening, but she's already gone."

As soon as I said this, someone knocked on the door. After the principal said, 'Come in!', the teacher swings open, revealing Ken.

"Ah, here is Ken. A-are you ready to start the physical test?"

"Yeah..."

I try to forget what the principal was talking about and focus on the physical exam.

"So, what's is this test anyway?"

Ken steps in. "This test is to gauge your physical and magical ability from the start of school to your last day. We do this to show the student and their parents how much they grew while attending our school."

"Exactly... Here's the test in order. First is a running test. Next is a physical strength test where you'll need to punch through ice. Then you'll do a magical resistance test that tests your mana capacity. Last, you'll do a magical dummy fight."

"Okay, sounds easy.

"Then let's begin."

We left the principal room and went outside to a 10 km track. Ken starts talking about how the track works. "This is a 10 km track. Here, you'll be tested on how fast you can run, physically and magically. For the first 5 km, you have to run without using magic. After reaching the 5 km mark, you can use magic if you please."

I listen to Ken's instructions. After nodding to show my understanding, I do some stretches. When my stretches are finished, I move up to the starting line. "Ready!"

"Okay, Ready... Set... Go!"

As soon as he said, 'Go!' I take off at 170 kilometers per hour. After 100 seconds, I made it to the 5 km mark. As soon as I do, I cast [Acceleration] and [Boast] simultaneously. Now, I'm traveling at 1,000,000 kilometers per hour.

After passing the 5 km mark, an instant went by before I reach the ending line. This caused the two spectators to watch in amazement. "A-Akuma... 101 seconds!"

"Ohoho! I can hardly believe how fast you can run. Plus, when you use magic, your even faster!"

I smile at the principal. "Okay, let's move on."

Next was the physical strength test. I'm not sure what this is going to involve, but it might be fun. "Okay, Akuma. This test is about creating and destroying a glacier. You'll first create a glacier at the highest thickness you believe you can break. We'll judge it, making sure it's not fake or too weak. Then, you'll try to break it. Ready?"

"Okay."

So, all I need to do is to create a thick glacier. This should be reasonably easy. Okay, let's try to create a 0.7 km thick glacier. I don't know if I can break it, but I'll try.

I held out my hands and summoned a water magic cycle. After adjusting the circle, I cast the spell. "[Glacier]!"

An enormous glacier forms in front of us, around 0.7 km in thickness. The principle walks over to it and observes it. "Ohoho! This glacier... It's reinforced with magic particles, just like the wall was. Not only that, but it's about 0.7 km in thickness... Are you sure you want to start with this?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, you may start."

I nod to her and walk up to the glacier. After staring at it for a moment, I swing at full force at it, which shatters the glacier into mini ice sickles. The two spectators watch in disbelief.

"Hmm... I'll retry and create a thicker glacier."

Ken tries to interject, but I cast my magic faster than he could speak. I summoned five glaciers in a line, all at 1.2 km. This causes them to freeze. I waited a minute for the principle to judge it, but she is still frozen.

I continue without her permission. I walk up to the end of the glaciers and swing at full power. My punch impacts the glacier, causing it to shatter; however, the other glaciers also breaks. My punch traveled through the icebergs, affecting all five of them.

Again, they watch in disbelief. After a bit, the principle finally unfreezes and walks up to me.

"G-good work! I think that should be fine showing for now. How about we move on?"

"Sure thing."

I smile at them as we move on to the next test. "This is our magical resistance test. You'll be placing your hands on this magic ball, which will suck some of your mana. This ball is special since it'll stop once it determines your threshold. It is testing what your capacity is..."

"Okay."

I do as instructed and place my hands onto the ball that Ken is holding. 'Okay, so how do I release my mana into it?'

I try with all my might to insert mana into it. After a bit of time, the ball that Ken is holding cracks.

"Ohoho! I thought this would happen! It seems you have too much mana that it broke the magic ball. Fascinating!"

Well... I am the blue devil, so this is all should be standard...

"Okay, to the last test!"

We move to the last testing location. The area is a wide-open space with a dummy in the middle. The spectators stayed a kilometer away, surrounding the area in a magical barrier. As I move towards the dummy, Ken shouts at me. "Try not to destroy the barrier, please!"

"Yeah, yeah."

I move up to the dummy. 'Okay, what spell should I use?'

After taking a minute of thinking, I decided on a spell. I step half a km away from the dummy and put my hands out. "[Black Hole]!"

The spell I decided to use is called blackhole. Just like it sounds like, it creates a black hole in a location where I pleased. The hole, itself, is a little weaker than an actual black hole, as in it won't destroy the planet, but should still destroy a good chunk of land.

After casting the spell, the black hole sucks in everything around it. The land peels from the ground, turning into pebbles that get sucks into the hole.

As soon as 30 seconds pass, I disarm the spell. The spectators look in disbelief.

"Hh-how!? A huge chunk of land is missing!"

"Ohoho! Nice going, Akuma! Very impressive."

"Huh?! Impressive? Didn't I say that an enmorous chunk of land is missing!? I mean, I don't even see any part of that dummy! This spell could destroy the world instantly!"

I just smile while the two go back and forth. After a minute, I reface the hole and cast [Create Earth] to reform the land back to how it once was. Afterward, I walk up to the principal.

"So... How did I do on this physical test?"

"Ohoho! If this were graded, then I would give you an SSS!"

"Is that an actual grade?"

"No, but I would make one just for the occasion!"

The principal starts laughing as Ken disappointingly looks at her.

"Ugh... Akuma, you're free to go. I have to calm this nut job. You did a fine job!"

"Alright, and thanks!"

I bow to them and walk toward my house. After a reasonable distance away, I teleport home.

"What a day! It would have been better if Tomo was here..."

Tomo, huh? I wonder what she's doing...

"Ugh! I can't take this! I have to see what's up to, or I'll never be able to sleep again!"

I sit down on the floor in a meditating pose. After thinking for a moment, I try to cast a spell.

"Work, please! [Boast]! [Expand]!"

I cast two spells. Boast, which amplifies my physical body or another spell, and Expand, which increases my senses. With the spells combined, and after a little tweaking on their magic circles, I can see and hear even farther than before! In reality, I can see and hear up to 1/4th of the world around me.

However, the tweaking of the circles allows me to zoom in on a target. Thus, making the spell a perfect creature detector.

After casting the spell and thinking of Tomo, I start to hear a voice...

"A-Akuma... Please... come... and... help... me."
