20 Chapter 19 - Hibernation...

** Imai Akuma's Point of View **

After teleporting home, I decided to head straight to bed. Today was a somewhat stressful day...

"Yawn!"

I head for bed and fell asleep almost instantly.

Morning came quickly. Still a little sleepy, I decided to train for a bit after rising from bed. School starts in five more hours, so I have plenty of time.

I trained for three hours. I spent the remaining hours reading my books. From my reading, I learned more about the magical particules that make up this world. I also learned about the advantages of multi-circles, which I already read about in a different book.

One useful book gave information about extra-type magic, which I had an affinity for. Two excerpts caught my eye amidst the rest.

'Extra-type magic is a unique type because it has no limits on magic. There are spells of different varieties within the type. Thus, spells within this type have a separate classification than the other types. The classification starts from zero to ten, which is the power the spells are.'

'Level zero spells have little power, whereas level ten spells have huge power. Power, in this case, is a combination of mana requirements and the power the spell holds. Spells that are classified as level zero include [Hide], a spell I used when I sneaked in the school. Spells that are level ten include [Mind Read], a spell that can read the mind of the target. Based on the level, it requires an enormous amount of mana and power. No magicians can use level six+ level spells in this type.'

This is very intriguing. No one can use spells that are level six and up. The next page of the book included many extra-type spells. I memorized them just in case I might need them. Some include: [Transfer LV8], [Fold Sight LV6], and [Imitate LV4].

After reading and getting ready for school, I teleported to the school grounds and made my way to my classroom. As I enter the classroom, I notice something weird. All the students inside look... different. I ignore this fact, however, since I didn't know any of them anyway.

Another weird thing is that my and Tomo's seat is not in the corner anymore. Maybe I went into the wrong room? No... The black stain in the corner of the room looks similar. This is the room I was in yesterday.

I decided to cast magic to remake my seat and place it in the corner of the room. I made one for Tomo, too, since she would most likely want to sit here with me. Wait... Where is Tomo? It's not like her to be late. Well, I have only known her for a couple of days so...

Suddenly the bell ranged, and the teacher enters the room. Unlike yesterday, it is a male teacher. My heart began to shake as I try to think about what is happening.

"Ah, good morning class. Let's begin right away. First attendance... Who are you?"

The teacher looked straight at me. I bow to him and apologizes.

"Sorry, it appears that I have entered the wrong classroom."

I continue to bow, and I made my way out the door. Afterward, I teleported outside the principal office to see where my class has been relocated. I knock on the door. After getting the confirmation, I enter the room. My heart relaxed when I saw the principle.

"Well now... If it isn't Akuma. I thought you left for good."

"Huh, what do you mean? It's only the 2nd day of school... Well, 2nd day since I came here. By the way, where has my class been relocated to? I mean, there was a different class in the classroom I came to yesterday."

"Hmm? I think you are confused. See, every year, students move to a new classroom along with their grade level. Since a year has passed, your class has moved to a 2nd clear classroom. The ones in yours..."

"Hold on! What do you mean they switch to a 2nd-year classroom? It has only been a day since I came here!"

"Ah, here is that confusion. It hasn't been a day. No, Akuma. It has been a year."

"Huh?!"

I look at the principle in disbelief. How?! How I say! I mean, all I did was sleep. I didn't skip school for a year. Wait... No, no!

Please don't say that I have slept for a whole year! No, that can't be possible... I mean, humans can't sleep that long unless they are in a comma. I don't think I went into a coma yesterday... Wait! I'm a monster now, not human.

"Hey... Umm, principle. Are there any monsters who can hibernate or sleep for a long time? Let's say... around a year?"

She cocks her head as I ask the question but soon puts on a wicked grin.

"Ohoho! How funny! Don't tell me that you slept for an entire year!"

"Hey! I didn't say I did. I say, what if a monster... Wait. Does that mean..."

"Oops... Well, I don't think it was a secret anyway. I mean, you haven't tried to hide anyway, or if you have, not very good."

"Huh?! Does that mean others know?"

"Possibly. Ken does. I don't know about any students, though. They must be blind, in my opinion. Who can't tell that you're the Blue Devil?"

Well, I didn't know until I read up on it. Though, I thought my actions didn't give away that I'm the Blue Devil. Well, my hair and clothes might give me away...

"Nevertheless, I still can't believe I slept for an entire year..."

"Yeah, that is quite a shocker. I didn't even think the devil needed sleep."

Well, I don't really. I only sleep so I can dream and come up with ideas. Sleep isn't required since my mana will regenerate me. Same for food and water... Still, a whole year.

I wonder what I missed during that time...
