19 Chapter 18: If your thirsty, I'm well prepared

"Hey! Leylin!" George's voice rang beside his ears, "You finished your aptitude test too?"

George's voice travelled over.

"Yeah!" Leylin nodded his head and waved the sheepskin paper form in his hands.

"I have completed it too, hehe! I, this young master, am a genius with a fourth-grade aptitude!" George laughed loudly, wearing an excessively smug expression!

"Oh congratulations, George" Seely already told him about the Aptitude Grades and what they meant before they arrived at Death Beach.

"Seems like with middle rank, there should be no academy that will reject me, nor would they regard me as important!" Leylin analysed his current situation.

"How about elemental affinity? What are they? " Leylin asked since Seely didn't really talked much about it.

"Elemental affinity is the future path of a Magus, you know, some Magi can manipulate lightning, some Magi can manipulate fire, and some others can even manipulate frost! These are all paths of choice."

"Although a Magus is able to use any type of elemental spell, in theory, the ones with the highest affinity will not only let the casting speed be faster but also contain more power. If a Fire element Magus wanted to cast a water-based spell, not only would he consume more spiritual energy, but the might of the spell would also weaken greatly. There could be a water-based pool summoning that ends up as only a water ball!"

"All in all, the elemental affinity will determine the path of a Magus, and the aptitude will determine how far a Magus can walk on that path!"

George concluded.

"The last sentence makes perfect sense, but it doesn't seem to be yours!" Leylin repeated the words of the last sentence.

"He he! You found out. These are the words of a travelling Magus! I saw them in my father's study room." George said embarrassedly, as he scratched his head.

"Oh right! I finally managed to inquire as to why the black-robed Knights were so cold and distant!"

George seemed to have remembered something and was itching to share the news.

"The strength of a Magus, even if he is only an acolyte, is not something a Knight can withstand, so don't you think that the black robes' performance when we journeyed was a little strange?"

"There is indeed something strange about it!" Leylin nodded his head and asked with a conjecture, "Could it be that they have some background?"

"No! No! No!" George shook his head, "My dear brother, you are guessing in the completely wrong direction; these black robed Knights are actually one of the experiments of a Magus!"

"An experiment!" Leylin's eyes widened. In his world, conducting a live experiment had always been a taboo for science, and even if there were any, they were done in secrecy. But here, they had actually done it so openly and aboveboard.

"In the process of the experiment, this batch of experiment samples had already sustained an overdose of radiation and would not live more than several years. That was why they were used as disposables, to escort acolytes like us!"

"This was the reason?" Leylin thought of Angelo's pale face and silently nodded his head.

Earlier, the A.I Chip had scanned and detected traces of radiation, but the radiation discovered on the white robe Magi were a hundred times more concentrated, so Leylin naturally thought that there was no effect.

"For us Magi, we will be acolytes at least; which Knight would not want to prostrate themselves and hope that we pick them to serve us in the future. The only ones who will not take us seriously are those who will not live for longer than a few days!"

George said with some regrets. His face was indignant, it seems like, as an heir to a large noble family, he was displeased with the rude manners of the black robes from before.

"I heard that for the guys from the west, not only had they been treated like young masters by the Knights along the journey, they had even slept with some of them!" George's dissatisfaction only lasted a moment, before it turned into a vulgar expression.

"Slept with some of them?" Leylin was a little more awake, "There are also female Knights?"

"Of course, although female Knights are generally quite muscular, a few have practised some unique techniques so they still look pretty good!"

"Also, a female Knight's stamina is rather good and can withstand all kinds of treatment. Especially during intercourse, her pair of toned thighs wrapping around you, that feeling is too wonderful for words!" George's current character was that of a lecherous swine.

Leylin recalled his memories. The brat of the past was also a playboy, but obviously, he could not compete with George who was from such a large noble family, so he had indeed not touched a pretty female Knight before.

There were several female Knights under the Viscount, but they all had bulging muscles, which made Leylin feel revolted.

Shaking his head, he did not wish to discuss the contents of this matter with George.

"I understand now. You should go choose an academy now since we only have this day to choose. My brother is still inside so I'll be waiting for him first."

"This! My father has already chosen for me, I'll be attending the Ennea Ivory Ring Tower. My family has a relationship with one of the senior Magi inside...Why don't you and your brother come with me too!" George gave an invitation.

Leylin was a little tempted, but seeing the ring on his neck, he remembered his brother's necklace and he hesitated.

"Earlier, that Magus never said which academy the ring and necklace could help us go into. What if it turns into a restriction instead?"

"No! I wish to walk and look around more!" Leylin declined politely.

"But... I don't know about my brother." Leylin doubted if his brother would like to join the Ennea Ivory Ring Tower instead of joining him inside the academy. He always thought that his brother will follow him and be together supporting each other but he didn't even ask his brother about this because he was too nervous and excited to know about this world and being a magus.

"Alright then. If your brother wants to, I am going to carry out the procedures. You can come to the area for the Ennea Ivory Ring Tower to look for me!" George waved his hands and squeezed into the crowd.

"Where should we go first after my brother comes out? I should ask if he even wants to be in the same academy with me."

"Of course I want too. Stop saying stupid things!"

"Oh you're out.. How did it go?" Leylin was curious about his brother since his aptitude and elemental affinity determines his individual future as well.

'Well... My Aptitude is...'

'Is what?' Why is my brother using his mind to talk? Oh no! Is his aptitude that low, enough to be embarrassed talking about it openly?

'I'm 4th grade hehe' Seely winked at the same time.

'You... Making me worry for nothing! hahaha Congratulations Seely!' (My brother is such a talent.)

"How about you?"

"Oh I'm third grade."

"Really? That's good too! Three times the charm right?"

"Three times the charm? Isn't that... "

Oh sh*t ... I slipped up. That's an expression on Earth. Seely panicked.

'How about your elemental affinities?'

'Oh...Mine from highest to lowest is Darkness and Shadows, Fire and then a negligible amount of Plant. You?'

'Well... It's almost the same as you.'

'Really? How so?'

System? Show me again my elemental affinities.

[Name: Seely Farlier

Elemental Affinities:

Darkness: 90%

Shadows: 90%

Water: 50%

Plant: 3%]

'From highest to lowest is D- ...Plant, Darkness and Shadows, last is Water.' This Plant affinity is just begging to be upgraded. Fine I choose you.

'You're right. It's almost the same except for the water affinity and you having the Plant as the highest affinity.'

'Yeah... you know who'll be washing the dishes and clothes in the future haha. If your thirsty, I'm well prepared hahaha.'

'I can do that myself but I would appreciate that sometimes...the washing parts I mean. It's impossible for an academy to have no drinking water.'

"Well just saying. Let's go brother! We only have a day to find ourselves an academy!" Seely hurriedly said.

"Yes that's right."

Oh I almost forgot. My Brilliant Plan.

Stealing magic crystals and levelling up operation is ready for commencement..

To steal magic crystals from the non-magus who has less than 9 magic crystals on them and steal a maximum of 5 from an official magus using the system scan and inventory I'd the best idea I've ever had on this world yet!

It means for the non-magus or what i think are youths wanting to attend an academy. They already spent some of their magic crystals to get into the academies they wanted.

Since the least amount of fee needed to attend an academy is 10 magic crystal so if they have 9 below magic crystals then they already had paid the academy fee making all those precious crystals they hold just extras.

That's why It shouldn't hurt much to them if I take their extra supply, right?.

System, use 'Secret' on me and keep scanning the area for magic crystals with the format I gave you earlier.

With this, I can collect the magic crystals from acolytes and everybody else.

I set the maximum to 5 magic crystals on Magus because I didn't want a big of a trouble. I can easily choose to take al of their magic crystals but... that would incite trouble to everyone here including me. So I settled with 5 magic crystals per Magus so they won't immediately noticed or if they noticed, the reactions wouldn't be enough to delay the events of this gathering.

Leylin and Seely strolled aimlessly around the camp and saw all sorts of interesting tents with strange shapes and sizes. Some were like a giant mushroom, where a small fan-shaped door opened in the middle, and some might very well have used some sort of strange horned devil skull, where the acolytes can walk into the tent through the devil's ferocious mouth as though they were stepping into a haunted house.

And at the front of all these different buildings were marked with words.

"It is the language of the mainland, that's still fine!"

Leylin took a look, saw some of the academy names, and memorised them, "Ennea Ivory Ring Tower, Mercifura Academy, Wetland Gardens..."

[Chapter 15 is now available]

I would love to review the new updated chapter but notifications of magic crystals gain are too hard to ignore.

[+3 magic crystals]

[+1 magic crystal]

[+5 magic crystals]

[+2 magic crystals]

[+1 magic crystal]

[+4 magic crystals]

[+1 magic crystal]

[+1 magic crystal

[+1 magic crystal]

Although most of the youths here that came to attend had only 1 extra magic crystal but if you combine them all with the magic crystals from the Magus and the fact that there are hundreds of people in this encampment. I could probably earn thousands. Just thinking of it makes my blood boil. You see unlike the A. I. Chip who gives off traces when it scans something or someone, the system simply doesn't leave traces. No energy waves nor mental traces, no way to know you were scanned by the system. It feels like whenever I scan something using the system, It feels like an all seeing eye opens up. The eye is in front of you looking at you wide open but you can't even see it nor feel it. You are helpless. At least that's what I think. I seem to remember something about an eye like that back on earth. In the 'Lord of the Rings' movie, maybe? In regards to that, no one, not even an official magus can detect the system unless I mixed my intent on them while the system is scanning but why would I do that? haha.

System, turn off the notifications for the magic crystals. Oh.. and if the inventory is already full.. Hmmm... what should I do... Maybe... use it to level me up?

[Noted, user.]

I can't help think the system's speech pattern always changes but not to the extend that I don't understand it. Well... It isn't really a surprise I guess since the system is assimilated with me so yeah.

Under the various academy names, there were details such as specialisation areas, and famous Magi, for the acolytes to consider.

"All these are for us to choose an academy according to our elemental affinities!"

Seely saw an academy that purely specialized in Plant affinity and was tempted to enter...but... he can't. Just from the fact that Leylin won't attend that academy but the next chapters would also be useless if I insist on going there. There's only one academy that we should attend to and it fits our shadow and darkness affinity.

Although I do wonder why we almost have the same affinity. Since Seely didn't exist in this timeline, did the world just copied some of Leylin's affinities to fit mine as his brother or is it because I'm also from another world? Who knows!

Leylin contemplated, "Our elemental affinity with the Shadow and Dark elements is the only affinities that we have in common except for the the Plant element but mine is the most negligible so unless I want to stay as an acolyte my whole life, I wouldn't prioritize an academy with the Plant element as it's focus. Sorry brother. I will understand if you want to part with me here."

"I already told you earlier, we'll attend the same academy so stop wearing that sad look, it doesn't suit you at all."

Leylin smiled but still felt a little guilty.

"And..." Leylin took down the Magus ring that had been hanging around his neck.

"A.I Chip! Scan the patterns on the ring, and compare them with images of the academies we passed by before!"

[Beep! Mission initialising, beginning to scan. Scan complete, comparing with database...] [Comparison completed. Similarity level: Abyssal Bone Forest Academy 67.3%, Mercifura Academy 54.4%, Sage Gotham's Hut 23.1% ...]

"So these three academies have the highest probabilities?"

Leylin stroked his chin, "From the various introductions of the academies, I remember that Mercifura Academy specialises in the Fire and Plant elements, as well as the creation of magic artifacts. Sage Gotham's Hut is not known for famous Shadow and Dark element Magi either."

"It seems like the Abyssal Bone Forest Academy is the best choice? They're famous for their specialisation in the Dark element, and is also a pioneer in the research of souls."

But this Abyssal Bone Forest Academy! Why does the name sound like a cult from the previous world?

"It seems like a Shadow and Dark element affinity user like me can never get close to the light!" After thinking for a while, Leylin still decided to take a look no matter what. At the very least, one cannot hinder their progress based on a name alone.

"I remember the recruiting area for the Abyssal Bone Forest Academy acolytes; it seems to be on the east side of the camp!"

"The off we go. Let's walk till our heart's content." We should walk since the system acts fast and I supposed it already took the magic crystals in this area hehe.

The two of them walked for about 10 minutes and finally reached a tent that was constructed with numerous white bones. The words on top were arranged to form, "The Abyssal Bone Forest Academy welcomes you!" These big words were all written in red and dripping blood, which scared many of the surrounding acolytes away, and seeing this made Leylin rather speechless.

This is creepier than I thought although this would be a wonderful Halloween playground back on earth. Leylin was curious about this Dorothy they were going to meet according to the newly updated chapter.

"Why would they construct such a scary looking scene? To frighten people? They could have at least done it after signing the contract; otherwise, all the acolytes will be scared away!"

"We'll brother, since they are going to an academy specialized in the Darkness element then they should be prepared to face things like this, right?"

Leylin shook his head and walked into the tent of white bones.

As he entered, a cold aura that reeked of blood engulfed Leylin and made his hair stand on ends. Seely already expected this but he was still surprised how creepy the voice was.

"He he he...After waiting for long, finally someone came!"

Leylin was still thinking about where the voice was coming from while Seely ... We'll Seely was thinking of odd thoughts.

I was thinking, If I ever have an ability like Heal, will this Dorothy take damage if I use it on him?

Seely was still as carefree as ever.
