16 Chapter 16: After 10 Days

[Chapter 13 is now Available]

This early in the morning and this is what I see. Still, it had been ten days already since that incident.

The three white magi was really... Really... angry! Let's just add 5 more "really" in there and you got the gist.

The three white magi personally investigated each and every person that was still alive after that.

For the other youths, it was an honor to be near those official magus. For Leylin it was a chance to observe those magus more closely while for me.. Its just bothersome really.

I told Leylin to let me hide the magic crystals. At first he was skeptical since if I hide the magic crystals inside my clothes, they would still be found out but after telling Leylin to try and search the magic crystals he gave me.

He was surprised because he couldn't find out where I hid them when he clearly saw me putting it inside my clothes but boy was he shocked when he used the A. I. Chip to find the magic crystals inside my clothes but couldn't. That was just it though. It wasn't inside my clothes but in my inventory.

Leylin looked at me intensely. His eyes filled with curiosity.

"You have a talking person inside your head that helps you in battling and other stuff but you get surprise by my ability that can hide stuff? Really, brother?"

Now that Leylin thought about it from other's point of view, his A. I. Chip is definitely weirder but still he was amazed to know his brother can hide things in plain sight without being found. Leylin thought that maybe his genius brother was meant to be a godly thief all this time but put the amusing yet absurd idea at the back of his head.

With that, they were able to pass the investigation of the 3 white Magi and after the carriage started moving again. Seely gave back the 3 magic crystals that Leylin owned.

Speaking of inventory, I hadn't checked what's inside that yet. I hope it would be like in the games where I find a processed fur cape of a direwolf, a weapon made from the bones of the direwolf or maybe even a necklace with the tooth of a direwolf with stats and all.

I keep saying I'll check my status but I keep on not having time for it.

After a day of searching with no results and the 3 white magi bickering, we finally continued our travel.

On the 1st day of our continued travel, I finally opened my status. What I saw made me delighted.

[Name: Seely Farlier

Level: 9 (870/1000)

Aptitude: 5

Strength: 6.4

Agility: 6.4

Vitality: 6.4

Spiritual Force: 5

Status: Healthy

Free Stat: 4.5

No wonder I could easily defeat those direwolves. System, based on my level and experience points I got from killing the direwolves, how much direwolves did I kill?

[The user has gained a total amount of 5,350 exp. from killing 107 direwolves.]

107 Direwolves?! *Pui* I think I just imagined myself spitting blood. Did I really kill that much? I remember myself killing them but isn't that too many?

[The user was so focused on killing that he didn't paid attention to how many he killed.]

That makes sense. Leylin did told me to stop doing a killing spree whenever there's a chance but I can't help it okay. As a levelling up system user, I must kill beings to get the experience points to level up.

And that Aptitude? I already have the highest aptitude, I can certainly become a Magus with enough resources in a short time. A person with an aptitude of 5 has a 90% chance to become a Magus. With an aptitude of 4, 50%, 3, 10%, 2, 2-3% while having 1 means having 1%, basically impossible to become a magus. Actually only from the 3rd to 5th aptitude does anyone has a chance of being a Magus.

Hmmm...how about the inventory?

Inventory:

Distance: 9 meters

Available spaces: 6/9

x99 magic crystals

x99 magic crystals

x28 magic crystals

Oh! I'm rich!!! I guess it was the right choice to take the magic crystals of the one's who died there. The academy fee is usually between 10-12 average so most of the youths who is travelling now to be an acolyte at a magus academy needs to have at least 10 but I guess some of the 22 people who died has more than 10 crystals on them.

Although, in my world it is disrespectful to steal from the dead but... The 3 white magi would have also taken them in the original timeline. I just took it faster this time around.

Let me put the crossblade, the dagger and the extra 3 throwing knives I have in here. I gave the crossbow to Leylin since he wanted it. It's only a crossbow though. With my strength and the equipment function to summon back an equipped weapon, having unlimited throwing isn't just a wishful thinking now and could rival the force of a crossbow arrow launched at an enemy. The throwing knives were 5 originally but I equipped the two using the system equipment function.

'Inventory' again.

Inventory:

Available spaces: 3/9

That's better.

Since I have more than enough magic crystals. Should I level up again using them? Each magic crystals give 100 exp points each. If I use them all up... I could...

System, if I use all my magic crystals, what level can I reach?

[The user can reach Level 23 with 370 experience points left.]

Level 23 huh...hmmm...Fine.

If I could let myself grow stronger first, then when I go to the academy, I could protect Leylin. With Leylins love for the unknown and learning as a past scientist, not mention with the help of A. I. Chip , I could just copy and transfer his knowledge to my own. Even if I become a someone who emits a strong spiritual force, I could just disguise my level of power using 'Secret'.

It's like a classmate who is strong and muscular will protect a smart but frail classmate from bullied and in return that smart classmate will tutor the muscular boy who had focused on strengthening himself to protect the smart boy. I'm obviously the strong boy there... No... I need to be the strong boy there!

With enough resolve, Seely chose for himself what he taught was the most beneficial thing for him to do.

System, use 'Secret' on me and use all the magic crystals to level me to 23.

[Inventory upgraded:

Distance: 23 meters

Available total box space: 23]

Oh... What great feeling. I feel reborn. This unfamiliar power spreading all over my body. All perfectly synchronized with my body and mind. So this is the feeling of levelling up continuously. It truly opened my eyes.

'Status'

[Name: Seely Farlier

Level: 23 (370/2400)

Aptitude: 5

Strength: 22.9

Agility: 22.9

Vitality: 22.9

Spiritual Force: 21.5

Status: Healthy

Free Stat: 21

I still don't know what it means to have this kinds of stats earlier in the story but I can only hope that it will be enough to protect me and my brother from any danger I can't predict using the chapters.

The Lifestyle Class Function is... This is...

THE BEST! ... YEP you heard be the first time.

Lifestyle Classes are for people that will make your life easier before and after a battle.

Chef-Class I can already imagine my cooking skills levelling to its Max. Oh my- the taste of heaven is no longer just a dream!

Your clothes are plain and uncomfortable? No need to endure. The Tailor Class will give you a hand.

Clothes are useless in battle? You need armor? Well the Blacksmith Class got you covered... Literally!

How about you want some medicine when you feel kind of blue and dying? Got poisoned and need some Antidote? Show no fear, Alchemy Class is here!

Oh... Even having a Healer Class may be possible since I don't think the system will provide a Doctor class in a Fantasy World.

Depressed? Being moody and a little down. Needs some music? Bard-Class is there for you!

Don't have a place to sleep and retire? You need something built? The Builder-Class got your back!

Ain't got food? Need to have some raw ingredients to cook something? Where to get food? The Farmer-Class will grow make miracles sprout from the ground!

Out of money? You need gold coins but don't know how to produce it? Fair trade? The Merchant-Class will make sure you only pick us for the partnership.

HURRAY FOR THE POSSIBILITIES AND POTENTIALS!

Now if only those classes actually exist... at least the system should acknowledged them right? What do you say system?

[With enough initial knowledge of the craft and basic practice, there is a chance that most classes the user suggested would become a proper class after the system acknowledged it. ]

How about a Cleaner Class then? the system already provided me with a cleaning function. With a wave of hand, I could just clean anything... right? Can I acquire that?

...

[May the system remind the user that the system still has standards. Although the Cleaner Class could be acknowledged, the user simply doesn't need it after receiving the unique Cleaning Function of the system.]

Oh... That... kinda makes sense I guess.

I don't need that lame class. I'm not degrading all the janitors and cleaners in my past world but in this world even without the cleaning function system, beings here can all clean... I guess the system just made it more convenient for me?... Seems like it.

"The Great Plains of Death is indeed a place no ordinary person can cross!" Leylin suddenly interrupted my thoughts.

"That's true" A great place to hunt experience points when I grow stronger.

Leylin sat in the carriage as his body constantly jolted up and down. The tiny window opened as a golden ray of sunshine peeked in, giving the interior of the carriage a trace of liveliness.

'Oh Leylin, I have something to tell you.'

'It must be important since you used your mind to tell me'

'Yeah its... '

"Oh, Thanks for the info. How did you know?"

"Ask some knights that I saved ten days ago from the wolfpack" It's a lie though. I wouldn't need to ask since the 13th chapter already informed me. Let's tell him early so he might not go again to drive the carriage. If I only knew about this earlier then he wouldn't assist to drive the carriage all the time.

During these ten days, the travelling party encountered an increasing amount of danger as they ventured deeper into the plains.

Only now did Leylin find out that the plains' direwolves were merely at the bottom of the food chain. There were still many more cunning and vicious predators above them.

Although when Seely heard this, he fell in love with this place more for experience points hunting.

On the way, Leylin and Seely saw several animal colonies whose numbers were not inferior to that of the direwolf pack from before.

Besides the plains' direwolves, there were flocks of huge black birds that were several meters tall and even enormous monsters, dozens of meters long, which looked like sabre-tooth tigers, except their bodies were like tiny mountains. Just their aura alone caused Leylin to feel suffocated.

Seely already wanted to leave the carriage and hunt some but fortunately or for Seely's case unfortunately, the deaths of the apprentices seemed to have reached the limit and the white-robed Magi had started to act. Not only did they set up magical defensive arrays on the carriages, they also directly stepped forward to disperse the animal groups that attacked. Through these measures, a large number of casualties was prevented.

The most dangerous time was when they confronted the monster that was dozens of meters long. Even Seely didn't dare yet to face that kind of opponent.

Thankfully, that small mountain-like monster seemed to possess some intelligence and knew that the white robed Magi were not to be trifled with. It quickly left after a short confrontation and did not unleash any attacks, causing everyone in the travelling party to sigh in relief.

"It's time! I'll get going Seely." Leylin took out his pocket watch and looked at the clock hand. It had already reached the 3 o'clock position.

"Take care, Leylin!" He still went huh. Using my the my new Cleaning Function, I removed the dirt and more importantly the stinky smell of the carriage.

In the original timeline, Leylin was helping drive the carriage so he can get some information from Angelo even though I already told him the answer to his 1st question that he will ask Angelo. The second question was the one I didn't tell him though since it was more of a personal question rather than a general one. Maybe Leylin would ask a different question this time since K already told him the answer to his 1st question in the original timeline? Well if he wanted information, I can't hold back a former scientist from gaining knowledge.

The questions he wanted was:

1. what will there be at our destination? and;

2. In your heart what is a magus?

The 1st question I easily told him earlier. The answer was some temporary tents set up by the various Magus academies. Over there, all of us can freely choose an academy to join based on our interests and also undergo an even more accurate aptitude test. I also told him that there would be hundreds of people there like us planning to attend the academy.

The second question... I didn't know how to answer that really. A person with strong powers?

In the original timeline according the 13th chapter, Angelo said that a Magus control enormous power and pursue the truth, with an equivalent exchange as their doctrine. Brat, don't daydream of obtaining any free benefits from a Magus, or else the flames of desire will gush out from the abyss and punish your soul. It's kinda true though. Human beings here whether they were on earth or here are all greedy creatures. Even I'm greedy for experience points.

Leylin stood up and opened the front door of the carriage. A moist breeze blew towards him, bringing a salty smell with it. It smelt very fresh and clean and Leylin could not help but deeply breath in a few times before seating himself besides Angelo.

"Good afternoon! Sir Angelo!"

"Good afternoon! Such a courteous noble gentleman!" Angelo did not turn as he directly handed over the horsewhip and reins to Leylin, "Good timing, I need to rest for a while!"

Leylin chuckled as he received the horsewhip and skilfully urged on the carriage.

Angelo leaned to one side as he unclasped a bottle at his waist. When he opened it, a strong alcohol smell floated out, and as he lowered his head to take a gulp, his eyes narrowed in joy.

"We are about to reach our destination. Based on the fact that you've helped me drive the carriage for a month, I can answer two of your questions!"

"Oh there's that 2 questions... I don't really care about what Angelo has to say so let's get some sleep first. I need the energy for my next plan of gaining experience points. If the 13th chapter is accurate then I should hit jackpot this time. I can't wait to arrive there. Hahahaha *evil laugh*
