2 MICHELLE DARBY

"The Mother"

Chattering... Chattering...

Clink... Clink... Clank...

"... ichelle... MICHELLE!" I woke up from my trance as I look at my husband's worried face. It was already 9:00 in the evening. And we were in a fine restaurant in Dropswood a couple of miles from Kal'en. It had good scenery and the ambiance suits the interior of a Class A restaurant, that you could see everywhere in the City. It was very popular in both Dropeswood and Kal'en since this is the only eating establishments that you could actually call as a restaurant.

"Are you alright? you seems out of your self this evening" He said before he wipe his mouth with a napkin. I only nod as a reply and smile at him for his comfort, mumbling an apology that he catch up quickly by reading my lips. I don't know what's happening to me tonight. It seems like I'm not in a mood for a romantic date nor a companion this evening. Something that my son also acquire.

"You know Richard... when I was a child. My mother also brought me here in this town just to bought me some ice cream..." I chuckled, no idea why I brought that up. It was so random. And my Husband thinks that I'm in some kind of a trance of some childhood flashbacks, that I never cared to share with anybody else.

"So.. you want some ice cream that's it?" Richard said jumping in the conclusion that I if i wanted some ice cream tonight. With the face he's making it's hard to say no at this moment. He looks at me like I'm the biggest odd ball he had ever seen. And I don't even want to relive that moment. Because it was so random, out of nowhere like it fly right out of me. With no conclusion why I did so. Plus it was out of the topic. We were talking about dinner plates earlier. And now it comes to this.

I chuckled once more "... I don't even know why I said that" to which he chuckled back as he put down the table napkin on the table and look at me right in the eye. The night is beautiful this evening... With the right cold temperature and the ambiance of the restaurant. It makes it more beautiful. Especially with those eyes. Definitely the eyes. It was green in every other way. The same color our son had. The same features he get from his father. From the shape of his face, the color of their skin and the hair. I don't even think that my son got anything from me. Even their personality was so alike. Both calm and charming. And without no qualms or heresy... he suddenly kiss me. God I love this man.

"Do you think that Corran is alright right now?" I said as we walk through the street of Dropeswood. Waiting for a cab to pass by since my husband's car were on repair while I didn't get a chance to buy my own since we were used to sharing our things to each other. We weren't the only ones who are walking since some of the people I know came form the restaurant with their respective partners were also walking to get a cab of their own.

"Yeah. he might still be awake this hour. Watching TV or playing on his console. You know Corran he doesn't sleep early even if you force him to" He replied. Our hands enterwined while we walk slowly along the small crowds. "Hmm I guess so" to which my reply. It wasn't a couple of minutes when our conversation died down when a cab stop next to us. My husband immediately opened the door for me as he ushered me inside to which I oblige. Before we zip away from view I notice something crawling from the trashbin. It was hard to explain. Some kind of a hairless cat of some sort. That drags itself out of view. The thought of it shudders me. Thinking that the pound should be aware of this stray animals. But all of that went away as the car started it's engine.

...

We got out of the cab once it stop on front of our house. The night seems normal as usual. The lights were open from the first floor to the second since
