Prologue: Invitation

In a certain orphanage in the city, there is a director who loved to read eastern fantasies. It was to the point that he would excitedly gather books that would enhance his knowledge so he could imagine the contents more thoroughly. As such, he collected many books on the 4 arts, Chinese medicine and qigong among other things. His library filled an entire room and maintaining the area slowly became a hassle.

And so our protagonist comes in. Her name is Achuta, an orphan who came in when she was 3 years old. One of the director's old friends brought her in after finding her. She was under a pile of rubble caused by an explosion. One day, she came into the library and began watching the director read.

Director: What's wrong?

He asked. In response, she tilted her head as she pointed to the book.

Director: Oh, this? It's a book. They're filled with anything you can imagine, so long as you can find the right one.

Hearing that, her eyes twinkled with excitement as she grabbed a book and looking at it's contents. However after a while, she looked back at the director with tears in her eyes.

Director: Don't be so impatient, you have to learn to read first or you wont be able to discover it's profound secrets.

He said before he began to teach her. It was then that the director began to teach her how to read. It didn't take long before she was able to read well enough to use a dictionary. By than she was able to read on her own.

Director: Now that you can read, you can use any book you find in the library. Just be sure to clean up when you're done. And be sure to keep the books organized.

Saying that he left Achuta to her own devices. In actual fact, the director was happy to have someone take care of his library. As such, he would even reward Achuta every week for keeping the place maintained.

And so the years passed and Achuta entered middle school. Every day, she would read her books to and from school as she passed by the park. Occasionally, she would go to the library to check out books she couldn't find at home. What she read ranged from educational contents to manga and comics. As long as it interested her, she would read it. And if she isn't reading, she's organizing the knowledge she has gained into a notebook written in a script unknown to anyone.

One day, on her way home, she hears a voice coming from the park.

Spirit: Excuse me.

Achuta: Yes?

Spirit: Can you help me?

Achuta: ?

Spirit: Are you strong?

Achuta: No.

Spirit: If I can make you strong, can you protect me?

Achuta: In return?

Spirit: What do you want?

Achuta: Books.

Spirit: Oh good, I'm a library spirit so leave it to me.

Achuta: OK.

Spirit: All you have to do is protect my library as the guardian.

With those words, Achuta was spirited away.
