149 The Turtle, The Bird, And The... Toban?
Seeing Adam seemed to bring some unpleasant memories in Toban.
"What are you doing here?" [Toban]
"Looking for you." [Adam]
The two people by Toban's side put up their guards and stood in front of him. Adam thought they would be afraid of him due to the warehouse incident, but maybe they just hadn't attended it.
"Who're these guys?" [Adam]
"People." [Toban]
"People?" [Adam]
"People who can kick your ass." [Toban]
Adam looked at the two more closely. They both wore a white mask, each decorated with a different animal.
("A turtle and a… bird…?") [Adam]
The decorations did interest him quite a bit, but their strength was a different matter.
"Were these guys there when I blew open the warehouse?" [Adam]
"Move. I won't say it again." [Toban]
Seeing as Toban ignored his words, Adam opened his hands and shrugged.
"Try me." [Adam]
The next moment Adam found himself about to be struck by two fists. The two masked men had moved and were already in motion.
("Uh oh.") [Adam]
Adam reacted quickly. He leapt back before the attacks connected, all while countering by grabbing their wrists and throwing them back.
"...Toban." [Turtle Masked Man]
"I know." [Toban]
The three shifted positions, making a triangular formation with Toban at the front.
"Oh? You're joining in too?" [Adam]
"You could say that." [Toban]
The three charged forward, causing Adam to ready himself.
("Huh?! What're they doing?") [Adam]
The three shifted positions, trading in an almost unpredictable pattern.
("The hell am I watching?") [Adam]
The switching confused Adam. So much so that he almost didn't see the attack coming.
"Pay attention!" [Krino]
Snapping back to reality, Adam barely managed to avoid a kick by a hair's breadth.
"There's more!" [Krino]

He found himself in a torrent of attacks. In one moment a kick or punch would go his way. In the next, they would switch to attack.
"Bro! Would you guys just… not?!" [Adam]
Many of their attacks went through, but it didn't feel like much.
"Just move and it'll all be over!" [Toban]
The chain of blows continued, causing Adam to become irritated.
"Fine. You want me to move? I'll move!" [Adam]
Adam pushed forward, ignoring the blows hitting him.
"What is he-?!" [Toban]
"Guard!" [Bird Masked Man]
The three put up their arms to block a wide swing of Adam's arm, forcing them back several feet.
"Ugh…!" [Toban]
"This strength…!" [Turtle Masked Man]
Though three of them had stopped the attack, they could barely feel their arms.
"...What should we do?" [Bird Masked Man]
"..." [Turtle Masked Man]
The two masked men looked at Toban, who returned a puzzled look at them.
"What?" [Toban]
"We have to do Plan C." [Turtle Masked Man]
He motioned towards the bird masked man who then nodded and whisked Toban off his feet.
"Eh?" [Adam]
"Huh?! What's happening?!" [Toban]
The two masked men then rushed at Adam, surprising him with the sudden changes.
"Now." [Turtle Masked Man]
He threw all his weight at Adam, attempting to tackle him to the ground.
"Oof!" [Adam]
Then came the bird masked man. Unlike his companion, the bird masked man darted past Adam with Toban and the briefcase they traded earlier.
"What?! You're running?!" [Adam]
He tried to chase after them, but the turtle masked man held him there.
"You're not going anywhere!" [Turtle Masked Man]
"Get off me!" [Adam]
Adam slammed an elbow into the turtle masked man's back, sending him to the ground.
"That's one!" [Adam]
Switching his priorities, he turned to the bird masked man and chased after him.
"He's catching up!" [Toban]
Despite Toban's efforts, his warning came too late. Adam had caught up within an instant, forcing the bird masked man to release Toban and face him.
"Toban, run." [Bird Masked Man]
He lunged at Adam, only to be struck in the stomach before crumpling to the floor.
"That's two." [Adam]
Toban looked at his companions with horror in his eyes. Never had he expected Adam to be so strong.
"You…! What do you want! Why did you do this?!" [Toban]
"I just have a few questions." [Adam]
"A… few questions…? A few questions?! You attacked us because you had a few questions?!" [Toban]
"Technically, you guys attacked first." [Adam]
"You…!" [Toban]
He glared at Adam with anger, but there wasn't anything he could do. If he were to attack, all he would receive would be a loss.
"So, are you going to answer my questions or do this the hard way?" [Adam]
Breathing deeply, Toban calmed himself.
"Fine. I'll answer your questions." [Toban]
