187 Run It Back!

Expecting his sword to meet Typhon's torso, Adam swung with all his might.

"Burn." [Typhon]

Flames erupted from his body, forcing Adam to retreat.

"Really?! I was so close!" [Adam]

Within those flames, Typhon closed his hands.

"Requesting access to the celestial archive. Burn, and consume with the ferocity of a hungering serpent. Tenefidi." [Typhon]

("Shit.") [Adam]

Summoning his soul weapon, Typhon was now at an advantage.

"You two have lost all your chances." [Typhon]

Unlike all the other times, Typhon targeted Adam first.

"Block!" [Arthur]

Adam took up a defensive stance, allowing him to deflect a few hits and narrowly avoid being slashed.

("He hits hard!") [Adam]

The blows received were starting to take its toll. Small cracks formed on Adam's sword, causing his heart to beat faster in anxiety.

"Los meas gundyr! Mind Arrow!" [Arthur]

Firing a transparent arrow at Typhon, an opening for Adam revealed itself. However, Adam used it to regroup with Arthur.

"Adam? Why didn't you attack?!" [Arthur]

"Uh…" [Adam]

Images of Adam's many deaths flashed through his mind.

"Reasons." [Adam]

"This couldn't get any worse…" [Arthur]

Seeing as Adam and Arthur were now standing side by side, Typhon waited.

"Your companion is far more competent than I have given credit for. You have earned my respect." [Typhon]

"Do I get a prize?" [Adam]

Typhon gave him a strange look.

"Your prize is facing me at my full potential. I will no longer belittle you with these paltry tricks." [Typhon]

"Wut." [Adam]

Flames gushed out of the cracks within Typhon's armor, enveloping him to the point one could barely see his silhouette.

"Soul Aggression." [Typhon]

The spear he wielded suddenly began to change. The handle's material turned into a strange metal Adam had never seen before, and the plainly, large blades turned black with a gold pattern resembling a snake grew onto it.

"Arthur! What's happening?!" [Adam]

"He's advancing his ethereal blade!" [Arthur]

After the blade changed, so did his armor. The weapon's snake-like pattern seemed to stretch and take over the armored plating. Eventually, even the flames that surrounded him began to resemble a serpentine look.

"Arthur? Any ideas?" [Adam]

"Try not to die." [Arthur]

The flames surrounding Typhon died down, only leaving two flaming snakes wrapped around his neck.

"Let's begin." [Typhon]

Starting off, the two snakes opened their mouths and spat balls of fire at Adam and Arthur.

"Dodge it!" [Arthur]

"I have a better idea." [Adam]

Ignoring Arthur's suggestion, Adam sliced the balls of fire in two. However, he found Typhon right behind it.

"Uh oh." [Adam]

Typhon thrusted his spear, slicing a chunk off Adam's side as he tried to evade.

"Agh!" [Adam]

His body tensed up from the pain. Unlike a normal wound, it felt like his side was burning.

"Fuya de medicis! Heal!" [Arthur]

A light appeared by Adam's side, causing the wound to close unnaturally fast.

"Thanks Arth- Woah!" [Adam]

Typhon didn't let up the attack. He continued just as Adam had done to him as well.

("It's so fast! How am I supposed to deal with this?!") [Adam]

Panicking within the midst of combat, his eyes widened in shock as he dodged one of the snake's bite.

("This thing moves?! I thought it only shot fireballs!") [Adam]

Seeing how difficult it was for Adam, Arthur jumped in from behind. Unfortunately, Typhon split his blade apart and parried him.

"Tsk!" [Arthur]

It was two against one. Adam and Arthur went on the offensive, but Typhon managed to deflect or parry all their attacks.

("Is nothing working?!") [Adam]

Within the heat of combat, Adam suddenly had another idea. He took one hand off his magic sword and raised it high.

"Conjuring!" [Adam]

Another magic sword appeared in hand. Adam began to swing at a faster rate, making it more difficult for Typhon to handle Adam with only one arm.

"Interesting." [Typhon]

Changing up his movements, the snakes on Typhon's neck wrapped around his hands and set his weapon's ablaze.

"Stop!" [Arthur]

He tried stopping whatever Typhon was going to do by slashing him, but Typhon ignored him and took the attack to the back.

"Aldea's flame." [Typhon]

Turning both blades at Adam, he thrusted.

("Oh, crap!") [Adam]

Raising both blades he attempted to block the strike. Unfortunately, Adam's swords snapped in half under the pressure. This led to Adam's chest being pierced once again.

"...Fuck!" [Adam]
