A God Appears

The people who had gathered around the portal were dazed to see me. A man 6 feet tall, with a pouch of gold across his belt with a red armour covering him. A man, with red eyes and long red hair, with a rough beard and an even rougher moustache.

My arms were built in such a way, that each of my arms weighed around 20 kilos. Comparably, I looked more like a monster than a man. I had a sword positioned on the side of my leather belt, sheathed, with a scabbard made of gold.

I used to use weapons to pave way for my incompetence. As a man who's strength was similar to a level 2 hero back in my previous dimension, strength itself wasn't enough to fight against beasts in the portals. I had begun my journey by using a second hand spear, and later decided to use a sword due to my proficiency. Even though I was only regarded near a level 2 hero, I was skilled enough to be regarded as the best swordsman across all portals and dimensions.

Without paying attention to the gathered crowd, I started to prepare for the chaos. Presumably, I was the only one knowledgeable enough about dimensions and portals. The portals served as a medium for heroes to travel through different dimensions. However, at the same time, beings on the other side of the portal could travel though the portals as well. Initially, portals were closed by the assigned heroes to prevent monsters to travel across to our dimension. Over time, this soon changed. After the people of the dimension I had previously been in, (the people I regarded as Beta Humans,) realised, that other dimensions had vast resources, and so, the Beta Humans began to plunder and steal off of these dimensions. This made it easier to keep a steady economy, and led to a new market.

For the humans who were witnessing the sight of portals for the first time, they had no idea what was in store. I used this to my advantage and decided to close all portals within the vicinity. But before doing so, since I now had access to the system, I commanded,

"Status open."

A screen popped up.

The system had used the same name as the one I had identified myself with amongst the Beta Humans. However, that wasn't exactly what was concerning me the most. The fact that the system identified my species to be a Demigod, was surprising. Other than that, my stats were far beyond the norm, even for a level 2 hero. Often times, the Beta Humans used to compare their ranks and stats. Based on what I was told by my peers, the human limitation was a 100 points for all statuses. Meanwhile, for level 3 heroes, the level cap was at 1,000. What didn't make sense however, was the fact that my strength had a level cap of 10,000. Which meant that I could improve my strength till that point.

I had stopped in front of the portal for a while, and during this time, monsters had begun to exit out of portals. People were screaming while running away from the portals. With this, I shrugged off my thoughts and begun my journey by slaughtering the monsters that had escaped out of their dimensions.

The first set of species that came my way were the TR300s, a batch of monsters similar to dinosaurs, about 45 feet tall. The only way this species was any different was the fact that their heads could be easily pierced. Before approaching the TR300s, I examined the other monsters that were going wild in the area. Thankfully, I had enough knowledge about all the species that were roaming around.

I leapt into the sky and slashed one of the TR300's skull in half. Using its half-cut skull as a stepping stone, I jumped a bit further to slay another TR300. I followed this process until I had killed a batch of 30 of them.

While standing on the TR300s, I was able to get a better view of the area. With the death of the last of their species going berserk, I decided to kill an Ogre, which had damaged vehicles and roads near its portal. Ogres were 15 feet tall obese green monsters with the face of a pig. Renowned to have low intelligence, but great strength. An ogre was the equivalent of a level 1 hero, facing one of them was already enough of a problem.

Before it could do any more damage, I threw my sword, pointing to the back of its head. However, instead of dying, doing so made the situation worse. The ogre rushed towards me with a car in his right hand. I stood in my position waiting for the ogre.

As soon as the ogre closed the distance, he swung the car at my face. At this moment, I bent down and punched his leg, causing it to break. The ogre's anger further increased. He tried to punch with his left hand, but before he could do so, I broke his knee with a kick. The ogre's knee bent to the other side and broke. With this, the ogre fell and started toss and turn on the road to express his pain.

As soon as my sword was visible, I pulled it out, killing the ogre in the process. I then proceeded to look at the town. Buildings were burning, beasts from the portals began thrashing through the crowd of people, and blood was spilt all across town. I stood there for a moment and realised what I had led to. I could have saved most of these people if I would have acted faster. Damn it.

Rage filled my mind, and my eyes glowed red.
