Dangerous

Chapter 5

Felix,

As much as I would love to ignore you, that isn't possible. We have to do this assignment so please write something a bit longer and take this seriously.

Nari

I close the purple notebook and toss it to the side on my desk. Moonbin returned the notebook back to me. He said I had to reply. I didn't think much of it since I just read it. Of course, he would want a respond. I reach in my bag for the yellow notebook and open to a fresh page, My pen starts to glide across the paper.

Moonbin,

I feel like we've gotten close and it's only my third day here. I'm not complaining. You are great company. I should probably start by replying to some questions you wrote in the first entry. Although I am part Korean, I haven't really leaned much about my culture, so I didn't know that my name had such a meaning. Whenever I think of Lily, I think of frogs and how they sit on a lilypad. Silly, right? I uh, don't want to speak about my mental health. I just have a little social anxiety. That's all. I appreciate you sharing yours with me though. Nayeon filled me in on who you were. Or at least the status of your nature. I just want YOU to know that NONE of that means anything to ME. I genuinely like you as a person and I just want to get to know you. You're a wonderful person. I hope you don't change. Don't let people use you and try to smile every day. My hobbies are a bit sparse. I only play video games, watch anime, and listen to music. I listen to a little of everything but probably KPOP the most. It helped improve my shitty Korean a lot. Sometimes I like to read. Some things I like: food, anime, KPOP, some K-dramas, dogs, sleep. Some things I dislike: cats, loud/large crowds, chocolate, winter. NYC is trash. Full of people and a smelly city. There is trash and rats everywhere. One day, I saw a rat as big as a small cat. 1000/10 don't recommend. I always wanted to try a sport but I'm so weak when it comes to things like that and I HATE the gym, so I just admire from the sidelines. Let me know when there is a game, I'll cheer you on the loudest! Thank you for today btw. It was a lot of fun. Let's make more great memories together, just like today.

Happy to have met you,

Lily

I close the notebook and slide it back into my bag. I'm already looking forward to his next entry. I scoot my chair back and stand up. Nayeon has her headphones in. She's reading another manga. This time, one called Persona5. I've played the game but it's a really long storyline, so I didn't finish it all the way through. Maybe I should try again.

It's Sunday and I have to get ready for classes starting tomorrow morning. They delivered my school uniform today. It's cute but I wonder will it look cute on me. What will Moonbin think? Speaking of him, I wonder what he's doing? Just as I pull out my phone, there are three knocks on the door. I slip my phone back in my pocket and walk over to the door. Standing there is Minjun and Chan. Chan waves, pushing past me, Nayeon takes an earbud out smiles. "So glad to see you! I finished my entry earlier this morning. Here you are." She says, grabbing her bag by her bedside. I watch as they exchange their notebook. Minjun chuckles as he walks in. I close the door behind him.

"So, what are up to today, Miss Seo?" He asks, taking a seat on my bed. I shrug my shoulders as I go to my desk and take a seat in my chair.

"I was going to see what Moonbin was up to."

"Why don't you guys date already!" Nayeon shouts. I turn to glare at her. She smirks. "What? It's not like you are exactly hiding your feelings about him." Chan looks at me.

"Oh, you like Moonbin? That funny because -" Minjun starts coughing loudly. Nayeon glances at him.

"You okay?" She asks as he pounds on his chest a couple times.

"Just had something caught in my throat. That's all." He says. His ears are red. I wonder what Chan was going to say. "We are heading to the auditorium. They are showing a play some of the junior students have been working on. We stopped by to see if you guys wanted to come."

"What's the play about?" Nayeon questions.

"About a couple who have to break up because their parents but somehow find each other years later. It's supposed to be a romance." I wonder will Moonbin be there.

"It sounds lame."

"I'll go. I have nothing else to do." I say walking over to the closet to grab my shoes. Chan looks at Nayeon.

"You sure you don't want to come?" She nods.

"I rather stay here and sleep. You guys have fun though." She slips her earbud back in and goes back to her manga. Minjun stands up.

"Shall we get going then?" I tie my last shoe and nod. We all exit out.

"What DO you think about Moonbin?" Chan questions.

"He's cool." I say, causally. Chan squints at me before nodding his head.

"Mhm." He says.

"I'm glad you're adjusting well." Minjun says, quickly changing topics. I nod my head as we I follow him and Chan towards the auditorium. I don't recall Minjun showing me this place before. It's huge and the lights are on, showing all the seats. There are hundreds, no thousands of students in here and it's filled with chatter. My hearts starts to pound in my chest. Too. Many. People. I start taking deep breaths but they are shaky and uneven. My eyes start to water and I quickly wipe at my face. I hate this. Minjun is staring at me. "Hey.." He starts.

"Nari!" Moonbin's voice calls out. I look around to quickly and I don't see him. More tears fill my eyes. "Nari! Over here!" He calls out again. I take another shaky breath and when I do, I finally see him waving a few feet away from us. He has a smile on his face. I wipe at my face again.

"Let's go over there." Chan says, walking pass me and heading towards him. Minjun nudges me.

"C'mon. Breathe. It's going to be okay." He whispers. I nod my head and follow after him.

We finally reach him and I fall into my seat between Moonbin and Minjun. Moonbin leans forward in his chest and watches as I sniffle and wipe at my nose. "Hey. Nari. What's wrong? Why are you crying?" I quickly shake my head.

"I'm fine, I was just experiencing a little anxiety. That's all." I say, taking a deep and clear breath. Moonbin puts a strand of hair behind my ear and my eyes widen.

"Whenever you're having one, just remember to breathe. Call me if you need to." He whispers close in my ear. I nod my head, moving quickly from him.

"Sure, got it." I say quickly. Chan smirks at Minjun who keeps his gaze forward. He pulls out his phone and starts to text away. I lean towards Moonbin. "I actually wrote in the notebook this time." He laughs.

"Let's trade around dinner." He whispers. I smile, nodding my head. The talking starts to die down as the lights dim down. "I heard it's good." I keep my gaze forward.

The play is wonderful, it was really cute and kinda funny. All the actors and actresses hold hands and bow down. Everyone in the crowd stands up, cheering away. The curtains fall and I stay in my seat as everyone starts to slowly exit the auditorium. Once there are a very lingering students, Minjun, Chan, Moonbin, and I stand up. I throw a hand behind my neck and rub it gently. "Guys, I'm sorry. You didn't have to wait for me here." I whisper.

"Oh, it's fine." Minjun says as we stand up. "I didn't mind and I'm sure the others didn't either." Chan slips his phone in his pocket.

"Hey guys, there is a spring dance coming up in May. This year, the guys ask the girls." My ears perk up. A school dance? "Who are you guys going to ask?"

"I'm not going, probably." He says. Minjun shrugs his shoulders.

"I don't know actually." Chan smirks.

"I think I'm going to ask Nayeon." My eyes widen.

"Do you like her or something?" I ask. He turns to smile at me.

"That's a secret." He says with a wink.

We exit out the auditorium and start down the hallways. I never realized how huge this school is. There are just too many places that lie here. "I'm leaving first." Chan says. He walks off, waving his hand towards us. We wave back. It's quiet.

"I have some business in the student council office. So I'll be off." I gasp.

"Oh, that reminds me. I have to talk to you Minjun." I say. He looks at me. I chuckle awkwardly. "Not here there. Let's go talk somewhere private. Like the office." I suggest. He nods.

"Of course." I smile a small smile at Moonbin.

"I'll see you later!" I call as Minjun and I walk away together.

As we walk towards the student council office, Minjun nudges me. "So, what did you need to talk about?" I shake my head.

"Not until we are into the office. This is really private." I whisper. He nods his head.

"Okay." He says. We arrive to the office and he pulls out a key in his pocket.

"You lock the student council office?" I question.

"Of course. There are reasons why. You'll learn when you're put on the team." He says, smiling at me. He opens the door and I push him in, closing the door quickly behind us. I turn the lock on the doorknob. "Nari. Are you alright? What's wrong?" I lean against the door, sighing.

"I can't join the student council club." I say, looking down. Minjun frowns.

"Well, that's unfortunate." I look up at him. "May I ask you why?" I chew on my bottom lip. I told myself that whatever happened back home, would stat ay home. Could I make Minjun an exception? I quickly shake my head. No. I can't tell him. I can't tell anyone.

"It's uh. Not important. I just can't join Student Council sadly. I thought I'd tell you in person before the principal told you." He raises an eyebrow.

"Does the principal know why?"

"I mean, yes but again -"

"So, why can't you tell me?" I sigh loudly.

"It's not any of your damn business okay!" I shout. The room falls quiet. I look at the ground. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to shout." I walk over to the couch, taking a seat. "Something happened at my old school that involved Student Council and because of that incident, there are certain reasons that I can't do certain things anymore."

"Certain things? Certain things such as?"

"Minjun, please. It's something I'm trying to forget about. I cannot and will not tell you anything more." He folds his arms over his chest but doesn't say anything more.

"Fine. I won't pry anymore. I'm sorry." He says quietly. I smile, standing up.

"Thank you." I look at him. "I did, however, get into the writing club. So, I don't have to worry about not being in a club. So, thank you for that." He nods his head.

"Of course." It gets silent. "I have some things to take care of, so I'll see you later?" He offers. I nod my head.

"Oh, of course." I say, heading towards the door. I put a hand on the doorknob. "Oh and Minjun? Please don't say anything to anyone about what I told you. Promise me." He raises his right hand.

"I promise." I unlock the door and walk out into the hallway, closing it behind me. As I walk down the hallway, I hear footsteps behind me. I stop and turn around. Felix stops walking. We stand there, staring at each other.

"Hi there." He says, a slick smile on his face. I narrow my eyes at him.

"When are you going to start taking the assignment seriously?"

"I much rather hear about why you're really here. Murderer." My eyes widen. He smirks. "Oh? What? Are you surprised? You didn't honestly think that you'd interfere with an affair and expect to get away with it. Did you?" My legs feel weak. I can't breathe. "You murdered your sister and your aunt and to keep you from behind bars, your parents sent you here. You're an escaped convict actually." He starts laughing. I fall to the ground and tears start streaming down my face. He walks over to me and kneels down in front of me. "Now, how would everyone like to hear that the new girl is basically all a lie. Nari isn't even your real name. Hyun Mi."

"Nari?" I look up and Minjun is standing behind Felix. His face is blank. Felix sighs and leans close to my right ear.

"If you know what's good for you. You'd never contact me again. Or you'll be ruined, Hyun Mi." He stands up and walks away, leaving Minjun there, looking at me. I can't meet his gaze. He holds out his hand.

"C'mon Nari. If you stay here, people are going to start asking questions." He says. I take his hand and he helps me up. He doesn't let my hand go as he pulls me towards the student council office. He leads me to the couch; where I take a seat. After he closes the door and locks it behind him he comes back and sits next to me. "Do you want to tell me what that was about Hyun Mi?"
